(Prior art) Pads made of sintered alloy are made by laminating a brake lining made of a sintered alloy that has been press-formed in advance on the back metal of the pad, and heating these at a temperature of usually 500°C or higher. Manufactured by sintering the metal backing.

The pad thus obtained has good thermal conductivity between the pad back metal and the brake lining.
The frictional heat between the pads and the brake disc that is generated during braking is transferred to the brake fluid via the piston and housing claws that are in contact with the pad backing metal, thus increasing the temperature of the brake fluid. In the worst case, there was a problem of paper locking.

That is, as shown in FIG. 1, a heat insulating material c is attached to a pad back metal b sintered on the back surface of a brake lining a, and a reinforcing plate d that holds the pad back metal b with elastic force is used to insulate the pad back metal b. crimped onto the padded back metal b, or as shown in Figure 2,
There is one in which a heat insulating material c and a reinforcing plate d are superimposed on a pad back metal b, and a pin e is press-fitted into these b, c, and d to hold the insulating material c.

However, in the former proposed example shown in FIG. 1, the reinforcing plate d can be easily removed with a simple tool, etc.
In the latter case, the pad back metal b, pin e, etc. will thermally expand due to the frictional heat generated during braking, but since these have different coefficients of thermal expansion, the difference in thermal expansion will cause the pin to expand. There are drawbacks such as the possibility that e may come loose.

(Structure of the invention) In order to achieve the above object, the present invention includes a brake lining made of a sintered alloy whose surface is pressed against the brake disc, a pad back metal attached to the back surface of the brake lining, and a head part of the brake lining made of a sintered alloy. A rivet that is held between the brake lining and the pad back metal and is integrated with the brake lining and the pad back metal by sintering, and whose shaft portion projects from the pad back metal; Since the brake lining is equipped with a heat insulating material attached to the brake lining, the backing metal and heat insulating material can be installed without making a through hole in the brake lining, and there is no need to insert the rivet into these when caulking the rivet. There is no reduction in the area of the lining, and the accuracy of the rivet position is improved.

(Example) The present invention will be described below with reference to an example shown in the drawings. As shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, a pad back metal 1 has a plurality of rivet holes 2 formed therein. These rivet holes 2 consist of a large diameter part 2a and a small diameter part 2b, and the rivet 3 has a head part 3.
They are inserted so that a is located in the large diameter portion 2a, and the shaft portion 3b is located in the small diameter portion 2b, with the tip of the shaft portion 3b protruding from the rivet hole 2. The number of rivet holes 2 is preferably two or more in order to ensure the attachment of the heat insulating material 5, reinforcing plate 6, etc. to the brake lining 4, as will be described later.

After the pad back metal 1 is superimposed on the brake lining 4 as described above, they are heated to 500° C. or higher to sinter the pad back metal 1 to the brake lining 4. At this time, rivet 3 and back money 1
Therefore, water will not enter through these gaps, and rust will be prevented, improving the reliability of the bond between the pad back metal 1 and the brake lining 4. do.

When the sintering is completed in this way, as shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, the shaft portion 3b of the rivet 3 is inserted into the heat insulating material 5 in which the mounting hole 5a is formed, and the heat insulating material 5 is attached.
is attached to the pad back metal 1, and the reinforcing plate 6 is attached to the heat insulating material 5 by inserting the shaft portion 3b into the attachment hole 6a of the reinforcing plate 6. And finally the shaft part 3
After attaching the washer 7 to b, the tip of the shaft portion 3b is riveted and caulked.

Note that the reinforcing plate 6 is not particularly required if the material of the heat insulating material 5 has sufficient strength and durability. Further, the washer 7 is used to prevent warping of the heat insulating material 5 and the reinforcing plate 6 when the rivet 3 is caulked, but it is not necessary if the outer diameter of the caulked portion 8 of the rivet 3 can be set large.

Incidentally, since a piston (not shown) and housing mounting claws are attached to the reinforcing plate 6 side of the pad according to the above structure, it is necessary to select a location for the rivet 3 so that it does not interfere with these.

In addition, the padded back metal 1 is stainless steel plated with copper, and the rivet 3 is
The brake lining 4 is preferably made of copper or plated with copper, the brake lining 4 is preferably a sintered alloy of copper strips, and the heat insulating material 5 is preferably made of a material with low thermal conductivity, such as ceramic, asbestos, or a heat-resistant resin such as glass fiber.

(Effect) As is clear from the above, the present invention has
Rivet 3 is attached to padded back metal 1 before it is installed.
Since the rivet 3 is sintered and positioned, the position of the rivet 3 will not shift during caulking, and therefore the positional accuracy of the rivet 3 is high.

Furthermore, even if each member 1, 3, 4, 5 expands due to the frictional heat generated during braking, since the rivet 3 is strongly fixed to the pad back metal 1 by sintering as described above, the rivet 3 will not be affected by the frictional heat. It doesn't twist or loosen.

Further, when fixing the heat insulating material 5, no pins or the like are required, and the heat insulating material 5 is fixed simply by caulking the rivets 3, thus reducing the number of parts.
Furthermore, since there is no need to provide through holes for rivets in the brake lining, its surface area does not decrease, and therefore the service life remains the same as before. Moreover, since the force is evenly distributed over the entire surface of the brake lining when the rivet is caulked, stability during caulking is good.
