When a motorcycle is braked while it is running, the rider's weight is added to the handlebars due to inertia, causing the inner cylinder of the front fork to sink into the outer cylinder, impairing steering stability. For this reason, various front forks have been developed that are equipped with a sinking prevention mechanism, that is, an anti-nose dive mechanism.

In this type of product, an attached case is attached to the side of the outer cylinder, and an oil passage is bored inside the case to connect the inner and outer oil chambers of the sheet pipe installed at the bottom of the outer cylinder. Some motorcycles are equipped with an on-off valve that closes when the motorcycle is braked and opens when the oil pressure in the oil chamber outside the seat pipe increases. Since the attached case is manufactured separately and attached to the side of the outer cylinder, it is undesirable to increase its size. On the other hand, an oil lock piece is fitted externally to the base end of the seat pipe, and when the front fork is fully compressed, the hydraulic oil in the seat pipe's outer oil chamber flows into the seat pipe's inner oil chamber through the oil passage in the attached case. The oil passage is blocked at an arbitrary position, and the hydraulic oil sealed in the oil chamber on the outside of the seat pipe is compressed at the tip of the inner cylinder, acting as if it were a rigid body, preventing the inner cylinder from descending any further and closing the inner cylinder. It is equipped with an oil lock mechanism that prevents the outer cylinder from colliding with the cylinder. In order to secure this oil lock space, the higher the position of the oil hole in the outer cylinder which communicates the seat pipe outer oil chamber and the oil passage inlet of the attached case, the better. This is because the on-off valve installed in the oil passage in the attached case opens when the oil pressure rises, allowing high-pressure oil to escape, so if the oil hole is at a low position, the oil lock will only occur below that position. This is because there is a problem that it is not effective and it is difficult to secure oil lock space. However, on the other hand, if the oil hole is drilled at a high position, the entrance of the oil passage in the attached case will also be high and the distance from the outlet will become longer, resulting in a problem that the attached case will become larger.

Further, a bearing member 19 is fitted into the upper part of the attached case 17, and a piston 20 is slidably fitted into the bearing member 19, and its lower end is connected to the oil passage 18.
It's coming inside. An on-off valve 21 that slides in the oil passage 20 is slidably fitted on the lower part of the piston 20, and the on-off valve 21 has a relief spring whose upper end is supported by a spring receiver 22 fixed to the outer periphery of the upper part of the piston 20. 23 is installed inside the piston 20 and is urged downward, and its downward movement is restricted by a stopper ring 24 provided on the outer periphery of the lower part of the piston 20. Also, the same oil road 1
A cylindrical valve seat 25 is fitted and fixed under the on-off valve 21 of No. 8, facing the on-off valve 21, and a spring is fixed to the lower end of the piston 20 and the inner bottom of the attached case 17 through the inside of the valve seat 25. In the front fork with the above configuration,
Since the braking oil pressure in the oil conduit 32 is normally low, the piston 20 is
is urged upward, and an on-off valve 21 fitted externally with its downward movement restricted by the piston 20 is separated from the valve seat 25 and opens the oil passage 18. Therefore, during the compression stroke, the check valve 7 rises, and the hydraulic oil in the lower part of the inner cylinder 1 moves to the upper part through the radial groove formed on the upper surface of the valve 7, and the oil in the outer oil chamber of the seat pipe 3 moves to the upper part. Hydraulic oil is in oil hole 2a, oil path 18, oil hole 2b, 14, 13
The oil flows into the inner oil chamber of the pipe 3 sequentially, and generates a relatively small damping force. Furthermore, when braking is applied while driving, the hydraulic pressure of the braking mechanism increases, and this hydraulic pressure is transmitted to the oil chamber 31 via the oil conduit 32, and the plunger 28 moves downward with the hydraulic pressure, pushing the piston 20 downward. to compress the return spring 27. However, the piston 20 descends,
The on-off valve 21 is pressed against the valve seat 25 to close the oil passage 18. Therefore, when the inner cylinder 1 enters the outer cylinder 2 due to the load applied to the handle due to the inertia of the passenger, the oil in the lower part of the inner cylinder 1 moves to the upper part of the check valve 7 through the groove on the upper surface of the check valve 7. At the same time, the oil equivalent to the charge volume of the inner cylinder 1 that has entered the hydraulic oil is ejected from the orifice 8 into the interior of the sheet pipe 3. That is, since an extremely large damping force is generated, intrusion of the inner cylinder 1 is prevented, the handlebar is prevented from sinking, and stable maneuverability can be maintained. In addition, when an impact is received from the road surface in this state, further load is applied to the inner cylinder 1, and the oil pressure inside the outer oil chamber of the seat pipe 3 at the lower part of the inner cylinder 1 increases significantly, causing the diameter-reducing step 36 on the outer periphery of the lower part of the on-off valve 21 to increase.
receives the hydraulic pressure, and the return spring 2
By compressing the relief spring 23 whose spring stress is set larger than that of 7, the on-off valve 21 moves upward and is separated from the valve seat 25 to open the oil passage 18.
Therefore, the high-pressure oil in the outer oil chamber of the seat pipe 3 passes through the oil hole 2a, the oil passage 18, the oil holes 2b, 14, and 13 in order, moves into the inner oil chamber of the seat pipe 3, and is transferred to the inner cylinder 1.
enters into the outer cylinder 2 relatively easily and absorbs this impact. Furthermore, when the front fork is fully compressed,
Since the side of the oil hole 2a drilled in the side of the outer cylinder 2 that is connected to the outer oil chamber of the seat pipe 3 is set at a high position, the inside and outside of the seat pipe are communicated when the tip of the inner cylinder 1 enters that position. The oil passage is blocked and the oil lock space is sufficiently secured for good operation.

According to this invention, as described above, despite the addition of simple structural improvements, sufficient oil lock space can be secured and the attached case can be made smaller. It also prevents the steering wheel from sinking during braking, maintains a cushioning effect even when the vehicle receives an impact from the road, and has excellent maneuverability and responsiveness.
