Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a pattern having good design, sharpness and heat resistance by embossing the surface of a thermoplastic resin sheet having metallic gloss to form an uneven part of specific depth, and filling and curing transparent solventless curable resin in the recesses. CONSTITUTION:Protrusions and recesses of 0.1-20mum of depth are formed on the surface of a thermoplastic resin sheet 1 having metallic gloss. The uneven surface is covered with curable resin 3, and the resin 3 is filled in the recesses. The resin 3 must be transparent and solventless type. Thus, a visual pattern is formed of difference of gloss or light and darkness to obtain an interesting pattern. Since the curable resin is of the solventless type, the protrusions and the recesses are not vanished, the surface is prevented from contaminating, and its heat resistance, weather resistance, etc., are excellent.

There are three methods for forming such shallow irregularities. Method (2) is a method in which fine raised printing is performed using ink with a metallic luster on a printing plate having a fine embossed shape, and method (2) is a method in which the surface of the sheet is embossed using a fine embossing plate. Method (2) is a method of embossing the sheet surface using a laser.

Since the convex shape was not sharp, the design effect was insufficient. In method (2), there were almost no overcoated surfaces, and the sharpness of the embossment was lost due to the solvent of the coating resin and the heat during drying. Even though the embossed shape was the sharpest in method (2), the productivity was poor and it was not suitable for mass production. Furthermore, when heat processing was performed in post-processing, most of the embossments disappeared.

Further, examples of the thermoplastic resin sheet (1) having metallic luster include those printed with ink containing powder having metallic luster on the surface of the thermoplastic resin sheet, and those having metal vapor-deposited on the surface of the thermoplastic resin sheet. The thermoplastic resin and powder with metallic luster used in such cases may be the same as those mentioned above. Examples of the deposited metal include aluminum, copper, and tin.

The unevenness (2) can be formed by heating and softening the surface of the thermoplastic resin sheet having metallic luster and pressing it with an embossing plate. This unevenness (2) is to untroll the direction of light reflection and form a visual pattern.

The physical pattern of unevenness (2) is a combination of multiple parallel striped patterns, and the adjacent striped patterns are combined in different directions. It is desirable that there be. (Fig. 2), the interference of reflected light from the parallel striped patterns brings out the difference in gloss or brightness, creating an interesting visual pattern.

The curable resin (3) needs to be transparent. This is because the visual pattern is composed of light reflected from the metallic shiny surface. It does not have to be colorless and transparent, and may be colored and transparent or translucent.

Further, the curable resin (3) requires a solvent-free type. In the case of solvent-based curable resins, the solvent damages the thermoplastic resin, and the unevenness disappears due to the heat during drying or curing, and the curable resin film becomes uneven due to volatilization of the solvent, which disrupts light reflection. It is from.

Examples of such curable resins (3) include two-component curable resins, and acrylic, urethane, epoxy, and polyester curable resins that are cured by radiation such as electron beams and ultraviolet rays. Among these, resins that are cured by radiation are desirable. This is because it hardens quickly without heating.
