Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent sticking of water drops to transfer paper by introducing the water drops stuck to the cooling member to a receiving part with the rear face of the cooling member as a guide surface. CONSTITUTION:The cooling member 11 consisting of a metallic plate is provided above a transfer paper guide 10 so as to face the guide. This member 11 is gently inclined, is turned perpendicular above a press roller 2 and is fixed to a shaft 10B. An inclined plate 12 is provided below the perpendicular bottom end of the member 11 and is guided to the receiving member 13. Natural convection of air arises according to the revolutions of a fixing roller 1 and the press roller 2 of the heat fixing device constituted in such a manner and steam is sucked through a vent hole 10a and is brought into contact with the member 11, by which the steam is aggregated and condensed to generate the water drops. However, these water drops H are guided by the rear face of the member 11 and is introduced into the receiving member 13 which exerts no adverse influence at all on the transfer paper S.

However, in such thermal fixing devices, the water contained in the transfer paper evaporates due to the heat applied during fixing, and condenses and condenses again, adhering to the transfer paper and causing various problems such as deforming the paper. .

For example, in the configuration shown in FIG. 4, a pressure roller 2 is opposed to and pressed against a fixing roller 1 having a heat source inside, forming a pair of heating rollers, which hold the transfer paper S from below and feed it upward. The unfixed toner is heat-fixed.

In this configuration, the moisture evaporated from the transfer paper S condenses when it comes into contact with an object that is lower in temperature than the evaporation point that is in contact with the fixing roller 1, for example, if the guide Fi3 is cold while copying is stopped. Condensation occurs.

The condensed water droplets 11 adhere to the transfer paper when the transfer paper S passes through the guide plate 3, deforming the transfer paper and reducing the quality of the copy, and also when being retransferred during double-sided copying or composite copying. This may cause white spots or conveyance defects such as so-called jams.

In order to solve the above problems, 1. For example, instead of the guide plate 3, a guide member is constructed of a wire as shown by the reference numeral 7 in FIG. , proposals have also been made to minimize the occurrence of condensation.

(Table-1) As can be seen from this (Table-1), a large amount of water is lost from the transfer paper S during fixing, and this becomes water droplets that fall onto the transfer paper and cause white spots and jams. However, according to each of the above-mentioned methods, the water droplets are quickly guided to the receiving member via the cooling member and are appropriately treated, so the above-mentioned problems associated with falling water droplets have been solved.
