Description

The present invention relates to an item transport device.

For example, when shrink-wrapping multiple stacked cylindrical cans, the cans are laid on their sides so that their sides are in contact with the conveying surface, and the top and bottom plates of the cans are positioned at the front and rear of the conveying direction. The stack is then conveyed in a stacked state with the bottom and top plates of adjacent cans facing each other, and the stack is supplied sequentially to the shrink-wrapping machine body downstream.

The goods transport device that transports and supplies such stacks consists, for example, of a finger conveyor, which pushes the rear surface of the stack in the transport direction with fingers. At this time, in order to prevent the individual cans from rolling and moving laterally in a direction perpendicular to the transport direction, rod-shaped guide members extending along the transport direction are placed at appropriate positions on both the left and right sides above the transport surface, and the sides of the cans are supported at three points by the transport surface and the left and right guide members, suppressing lateral movement while allowing them to move forward with the fingers. An goods transport device with such a configuration is disclosed, for example, in Patent Document 1.

Some cans have barcodes printed on the side. In this case, the barcodes printed on the multiple cans that make up the stack are fed to an item transport/supply device in an aligned state, and the cans are transported in that state, and shrink-packaged with the relative positions of the barcodes and the shrink film with the package design aligned. By aligning the positions in this way, the barcode can be seen, for example, from outside the shrink-packaged product, and can be read, for example, by a POS register. Conversely, some cans have the barcode printed on the can hidden by a design printed on the shrink film, and the barcode for packing printed on the shrink film.

Patent No. 4222794

When cans stacked in a stacking rack are transported in the stacking direction by a finger conveyor, they may rotate around the center of the transport direction during transport due to vibrations of the conveyor or uneven distribution of the contents of the cans. This can cause the barcodes formed on the sides of the multiple items being stacked to move in the circumferential direction, making it impossible to align the barcodes on the multiple cans in the desired position when shrink-wrapped.

If the position of the barcode on the can is misaligned, for example when you want to expose the barcode printed on the can so that it can be read, the barcode may overlap with the design of the shrink film, making it invisible from the outside. This means that the barcode cannot be read by the store's POS register.

In addition, when the barcode printed on the can is hidden by the design part of the shrink film and you want to read the barcode printed on the shrink film, the barcode on the can may be visible on the front. This may cause the product to be read by mistake when the barcode is read at the POS register.

To prevent this from happening, for example, a worker may wait near the discharge side of the item transport device and check the position of the barcode on the stack at a specified time before it is fed into the packaging machine body, and if it has rotated, return it to the correct position. However, if such correction work by a worker is required, it is difficult to respond at high speed. Furthermore, if there are a large number of cans that have rotated and the barcode has become misaligned, they cannot be processed even at high speed.

The above-mentioned problems are described as being independent of each other, and the present invention does not necessarily have to solve all of the problems described, but it is sufficient if it can solve at least one of the problems. In addition, we intend to obtain rights to the configuration for solving this problem separately through divisional applications, amendments, etc.

In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, the item transport device of the present invention is (1) an item transport device that transports a stack of multiple circular cans stacked front to back with their top and bottom plates positioned front to back in the transport direction, and includes a transport means that moves the multiple cans that make up the stack forward with their sides in contact with a transport surface, product guides that are located on the left and right above the transport surface, contact the sides of the cans and restrict movement in a direction perpendicular to the transport direction, and a magnetic force generating means that is located below the product guides, and the cans are attracted by magnetic force generated by the magnetic force generating means, so that the frictional resistance generated between the sides of the cans and the transport surface is increased beyond that generated by the weight of the cans themselves, the transport means is a finger conveyor, the transport surface includes members that move together with the finger portions that constitute the finger conveyor with the cans placed on them, and the magnetic force generating means is provided between the product guides and the members that move together with the finger portions .

In this way, the cans are magnetically attracted by the magnetic force of the magnetic force generating means, increasing the frictional resistance generated between the cans and the conveying surface, so that even if the cans try to rotate in the circumferential direction of their sides due to, for example, eccentricity of the center of gravity inside the can or vibrations received from the device, the frictional resistance prevents the cans from rotating, and they move forward along the conveying direction without rotating. Therefore, for example, if barcodes are printed on the sides of the cans, and the cans are supplied to the item conveying device with the barcodes of each can that makes up the stack attached, they can be conveyed and taken out in their aligned state.

The conveying means is a finger conveyor, and the conveying surface is equipped with a member that moves together with the finger portion that constitutes the finger conveyor with the cans placed on it, and the magnetic force generating means is provided between the product guide and the member that moves together with the finger portion, so that the stack is pushed by the finger portion and the sides of each can are supported by the member that moves together with the fingers, thereby applying a conveying force to the entire stack and enabling stable conveyance.

(2) The magnetic force generating means may be a plurality of permanent magnets arranged in the conveying direction without contacting the cans, which is a simple and compact structure and can generate magnetic force throughout the entire conveying area.

(3) The distance between adjacent permanent magnets in the forward and backward directions along the conveying direction may be set to be equal to or less than the length in the conveying direction of the cans constituting the stack. In this way, the cans constituting the stack always face at least one permanent magnet and are attracted by its magnetic force, so that rotation can be prevented throughout the entire conveying section.

(4) It is preferable that all or some of the permanent magnets arranged along the conveying direction are attached to a support member, and that a mechanism is provided for moving the support member toward and away from the conveying surface. In this way, the magnitude of the magnetic force applied to the cans can be adjusted, and such adjustment can be performed collectively for the multiple permanent magnets.

According to the present invention, when circular cans are transported in a stacked state with the top and bottom plates positioned at the front and rear of the transport direction, the cans can be prevented from rotating around the sides during transport, and can be transported in the orientation and position in which they were supplied.

As shown in FIG. FIG. 3 is a perspective view (part 1) showing a state of use. FIG. 4 is a perspective view (part 2) showing the usage state.

The following describes in detail a preferred embodiment of the present invention with reference to the drawings. Note that the present invention is not to be interpreted as being limited to this embodiment, and various changes, modifications, and improvements may be made based on the knowledge of those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the present invention.

The article conveying device 10 of this embodiment is arranged, for example, upstream of the packaging machine body in a shrink packaging machine, and conveys the stack 2 consisting of multiple cans 1 stacked in front and behind in a standing position at regular intervals and supplies it to the packaging machine body. The cans 1 to be conveyed by the article conveying device 10 of this embodiment are low-height, flat, cylindrical shapes. The cans 1 are turned sideways to form a standing position, with the cylindrical side 1a in contact with the conveying surface, and the top plate 1b and bottom plate 1c on which the lids of the cans 1 are provided are located at the front and rear of the conveying direction. In this embodiment, the cans are conveyed in a position in which the top plate 1b is located at the rear of the traveling direction. The stack 2 is then formed with the top plate 1b and bottom plate 1c of adjacent cans 1 facing each other at the front and rear of the conveying direction. In addition, a barcode 3 is printed on the side 1a of the can 1, and the barcodes 3 printed on the multiple cans 1 constituting the stack 2 are arranged by an upstream device so as to be aligned along the conveying direction.

The article conveying device 10 comprises fingers 13 attached at regular intervals to an endless chain 12 that rotates and moves within a vertical plane. The fingers 13 comprise a base portion 13a attached so as to straddle the upper surface side of the endless chain 12 that moves through the conveying section of the stack 2, a rod-shaped finger portion 13b that protrudes upward from the front end side of the base portion 13a in the traveling direction, and rollers 13c attached to the outside of both the left and right side surfaces of the base portion 13a. The rollers 13c are mounted on the outside of the side surface of the base portion 13a so as to be rotatable about a rotation axis that extends in a direction perpendicular to the conveying direction.

Furthermore, the finger 13 is connected to the endless chain 12 so that it can rotate forward and backward within a predetermined angle range in a vertical plane. In the conveying section of the stack 2, the finger portion 13b maintains an upright position as shown in the figure, and when it moves to the discharge end, the entire finger 13 rotates around the connection point to the endless chain 12 so that the finger portion 13b falls backward. This allows the discharge end position of the endless chain 12 to be closer to the entrance of the packaging machine body. In order to perform this operation, a wide, band-shaped guide plate portion 16 is arranged in the lower area of the endless chain 12 that moves along the conveying direction of the stack 2. The width of this guide plate portion 16 is made sufficiently wider than the width of the endless chain 12, and is configured to receive the lower end surfaces of both left and right side walls of the base portion 13a of the finger 13 arranged to straddle the endless chain 12. As a result, in the section where the guide plate portion 16 is arranged, the base portion 13a is supported, so that the finger portion 13b moves in an upright position. When the guide plate portion 16 is no longer present near the discharge end, the support of the base portion 13a is lost, and as described above, the rear end side of the base portion 13a in the travel direction moves downward, causing the entire finger 13 to rotate and the finger portion 13b to fall backward. The finger 13 then moves with the rotation of the endless chain 12 in a position rotated by a predetermined angle to the upstream side. When the finger 13 approaches the conveying section, the roller 13c moves while being guided by a guide (not shown), and the finger 13 rotates in the opposite direction to the above, causing the finger portion 13b to take an upright position, and the lower surface of the base portion 13a reaches a position supported by the guide plate portion 16, and moves forward while maintaining the upright position.

In addition, a guide rail portion 15 extending along the conveying direction is provided in the central portion of the width direction of the upper surface of the guide plate portion 16. The portion of the endless chain 12 that moves along the conveying surface is guided in contact with the guide rail portion 15 and moves horizontally along the conveying direction.

Furthermore, a plurality of receiving members 14 are provided at appropriate positions on the endless chain 12. The appropriate position for attaching the receiving members 14 may be the entire section between the front and rear fingers 13, but in this embodiment, it is a certain section on the front side of the traveling direction of each finger 13 where the cans 1 are supplied and placed. The receiving members 14 are rectangular block-shaped and have a flat upper surface. The upper surface of the receiving members 14 becomes the conveying surface, and the side surface 1a of the cans 1 is supported by the receiving members 14. This article conveying device 10 is a dual-purpose type that conveys two types of cans: a stack 2 in which four cans 1 are stacked in a front-to-back manner as shown in the figure, and a stack in which three of the same cans are lined up front and back.

On the other hand, in the conveying section that conveys the stack 2, a product guide 17 is provided above the endless chain 12 at a predetermined position on both the left and right sides, extending along the conveying direction. This product guide 17 comprises a round bar-shaped main body 17a and a cover member 17b that covers the outer periphery of the main body 17a. It is also preferable that the cover member 17b be made of resin.

The stack 2, whose barcodes 3 are aligned, is sequentially supplied between the fingers 13 by a device installed upstream of the item conveying device 10 having the basic configuration described above. As described above, the cans 1 constituting this stack 2 are in contact with each other from the front to the back, with their side surfaces 1a resting on the receiving member 14 and with predetermined positions of the side surfaces 1a in contact with the pair of left and right product guides 17. As a result, the side surfaces 1a of the cans 1 are supported at three points by the receiving member 14 and the left and right product guides 17. Therefore, even if a force acts on the cans 1 on the flat upper surface of the receiving member 14 to roll in the circumferential direction of the side surfaces 1a, i.e., in the left and right direction relative to the conveying direction of the stack 2, this force is suppressed.

Furthermore, the finger portion 13b comes into contact with the rear end surface of the stack 2, i.e., the top plate portion 1b of the rearmost can 1 in the traveling direction. Then, as the endless chain 12 rotates, the finger portion 13b and the receiving member 14 also move forward together. As a result, the stack 2 is pushed forward by the finger portion 13b. The receiving member 14, which constitutes the conveying surface, also moves forward, assisting the forward movement of the stack 2 which is pushed forward by the finger portion 13b.

Although the can 1 is prevented from rolling sideways relative to the direction of travel as described above, for example, if the center of gravity of the contents filled in the can 1 is offset from the center, a force acts in the direction of rotation about the center of the can 1, which is aligned with the conveying direction, rather than moving in a direction perpendicular to the conveying direction. In response to this force, a force to prevent rotation is generated, for example, by contact resistance generated between the can 1 and the receiving member 14 due to the weight of the can 1. However, there remains a risk of rotation, for example, if a gap occurs between the side surface 1a and the receiving member 14, which does not generate sufficient contact resistance, or if the weight of the can 1 and the rotational force generated due to the eccentricity of the center of gravity are not balanced.

In this embodiment, therefore, a magnetic force generating means is placed over the entire conveying section, and the magnetic force generated by the magnetic force generating means is used to attract the cans 1 downward, and the magnetic force presses the cans 1 against the conveying surface, bringing them into even stronger contact with the receiving member 14, thereby increasing the contact resistance and preventing rotation.

In this embodiment, the magnetic force generating means uses a permanent magnet 20. Specifically, multiple permanent magnets 20 are attached at equal pitch to the surface of an elongated block-shaped support member 21. The support member 21 has a mounting surface 21a with one corner of a rectangular body chamfered, and a plate-shaped permanent magnet 20 is fixed to the mounting surface 21a. When the permanent magnet 20 is installed at a specified position below the conveying surface, the permanent magnet 20 is configured so that it does not come into contact with the can 1 and the magnetic force it generates attracts the can 1, and it is preferable to place the permanent magnet 20 over almost the entire conveying section.

The support members 21 are arranged on both the left and right sides of the conveying surface so as to extend horizontally along the conveying direction, and the mounting surfaces 21a are inclined at a predetermined angle with respect to the horizontal direction. The corner where the mounting surface 21a is provided is located on the inside in the width direction perpendicular to the conveying direction of the upper surface when the support members 21 are installed, that is, on the center side of the conveying surface. Therefore, the upper surface of the plate-shaped permanent magnet 20 is parallel to the mounting surface 21a, and the permanent magnets 20 arranged on the left and right each face diagonally upward toward the center. It is preferable that they face the side surface 1a of the can 1 directly or at an angle close to that. In this way, the can 1 is attracted from below on both the left and right sides toward the diagonally downward and outward, and the desired contact resistance is generated between the lower end portion of the side surface 1a in the conveying position and the receiving member 14, and between the left and right predetermined portions below the side surface 1a and the left and right product guides 17, and rotation is suppressed. In this state, the stack 2 is pushed forward by the finger portion 13b, and moves forward while rotation is suppressed.

The permanent magnet 20 is in the form of a circular ring, and is fixed to the support member 21 by inserting a fastener such as a bolt or a screw (here, the screw 22) into the central hole and tightening the screw 22. By making the outer shape of the permanent magnet 20 circular, even if the permanent magnet 20 rotates around the part where the screw 22 is attached and fixed, the position of the outer edge of the permanent magnet 20 does not change, and it does not come into contact with the surroundings or change the magnetic field generated around it, which is good. In contrast, if a rectangular permanent magnet such as a square is used and its center is fixed with a screw or the like, when the rectangular permanent magnet rotates around the part where it is fixed, there is a risk that each vertex of the rectangle will collide with surrounding members or the like because the distance from the center is long, or the generated magnetic field will vary and the magnetic force will not be properly applied to the can 1, but by making it circular, this risk is eliminated. In addition, when a rectangular permanent magnet is used, it is preferable to fix it so that it does not rotate. However, by making it a round ring shape as in this embodiment, it is good because it can be easily attached, for example, by fixing it at one point in the center.

The magnetic force generated by the magnetic force generating means should be constantly applied to each can 1 during transportation. In this embodiment, the diameter of one permanent magnet 20 is smaller than the height of the can 1, i.e., the length in the transport direction, and the arrangement pitch of the permanent magnets 20 should be less than the height of the can 1, i.e., the length in the transport direction of the can 1 in the transport position. For example, if the arrangement interval between adjacent permanent magnets 20 is longer than the length of the can 1 in the transport direction, some cans will be located in the section between the adjacent permanent magnets and will not face the permanent magnets. There, the attractive force to the can will weaken temporarily, and the contact resistance will decrease, and there will be a risk of the can 1 rotating. However, by making the arrangement pitch of the permanent magnets 20 shorter than the length (height) of the can in the arrangement direction, the cans will continuously face one of the permanent magnets and will be attracted by that permanent magnet. Therefore, the rotation of the cans can be suppressed as much as possible throughout the entire transport section.

The outer side surface 21b of the support member 21 is connected to a mounting bracket (not shown). The mounting bracket provided on the machine frame side of the device has a long hole extending, for example, in the vertical direction at a location facing the screw hole 21c provided on the side surface 21b of the support member 21. Then, the support member 21 is raised and lowered along the long hole with a fixing screw (not shown) attached to the screw hole 21c through the long hole loosened, and the fixing screw is tightened and fixed at an appropriate position. In this way, the multiple permanent magnets 20 attached to the support member 21 can be raised and lowered collectively, moved toward and away from the can 1 being transported, and fixed at an appropriate position. In this way, the attractive force based on the magnetic force applied to the can 1 can be adjusted, and the contact resistance between the can 1 and the receiving member 14, etc. can be adjusted to a size that is just right for preventing rotation. In this example, the screw holes 21c on the side surface 21b of the support member 21 are used to attach the screws to the mounting bracket, but a specific connecting member may be attached to the side surface 21b of the support member 21 and the support member 21 may be connected to the mounting bracket via the connecting member. The movement direction of the support member 21 is not limited to the vertical up-down direction, and various mechanisms are possible, such as horizontal movement or a combination of these to raise and lower the support member 21 in an oblique direction.

For example, if the permanent magnet 20 is brought close to the can 1, shortening the distance between them and making the magnetic force too strong, the receiving member 14 moving along the conveying path may be strongly urged downward, and this urging force may be applied to the endless chain 12, causing the chain to stretch or increasing the contact pressure between the endless chain 12 and the guide rail portion 15 and the contact pressure between the fingers 13 and the guide plate portion 16, which may increase the load during conveying. To prevent such a situation from occurring, it is advisable to prevent the can from rotating while avoiding applying excessive magnetic force.

In addition, by fixing with screws as in this embodiment, the permanent magnets 20 will not loosen over long periods of use, and the distance between the permanent magnets 20 and the can 1 can be maintained at the appropriate position that was initially set. Furthermore, in this embodiment, the position is adjusted using the support member 21 to which multiple permanent magnets 20 are attached, so the position adjustment of the multiple permanent magnets 20 can be performed all at once, and the relative positions of the permanent magnets 20 do not change, and all of the permanent magnets 20 can be fixed in appropriate positions. In addition, the support member 21 can be divided into two or three pieces on one side along the conveying direction, for example, and in this way the positions of all the permanent magnets can be adjusted with just a few position adjustments.

The magnetic force generating means is not limited to permanent magnets, and for example, electromagnets and various other types can be used. However, permanent magnets are particularly advantageous because they can be installed in a small size with a simple configuration.

In addition, in this embodiment, the same cans are transported as a single stack of three or four cans lined up in a row. Even if the number of cans changes, the cans remain the same, so the height of the cans, i.e. the pitch in the front-to-back direction of the transport direction, does not change, and the arrangement of the permanent magnets does not need to be changed. If the device is to be used as a transport device for cans of different heights, it is advisable to attach a permanent magnet with a different arrangement pitch accordingly, or to set the permanent magnet pitch to match the smallest size.

In addition, in the above-described embodiment, the endless chain 12 is provided with a support member 14 that supports the side surface 1a of the can 1, but the support member 14 does not necessarily have to be provided. In this case, it is preferable to make the product guide 17 a roller-equipped guide with a number of rollers (with rotation axes that run vertically or inclined vertically) arranged along the conveying direction.
