Description

The present invention relates to decorative items in which various decorative materials are fixed onto a base.

As ornaments for displaying various decorative materials such as artificial flowers, pressed flowers, and jewelry, ornaments have been known in which the decorative materials are placed on a base such as a metal plate or acrylic plate, and resin is poured onto the decorative materials to embed the decorative materials in the resin (see, for example, Patent Document 1). Ornaments have also been proposed in which various decorative materials are attached to the surface of a base via an adhesive, so that the decorative materials are fixed so as to protrude from the surface of the base (see, for example, Patent Document 2). Ornaments have also been proposed in which a thermosetting resin is coated on the surface of a base to form an adhesive layer, a mixture of decorative materials such as glass beads and granular resin is sprinkled on the adhesive layer, the excess mixture is brushed off, and the mixture is heated to integrate the adhesive layer and the mixture, thereby fixing the decorative materials to the base (see, for example, Patent Document 3).

特開昭57-110500号公報Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 57-110500 特開2003-182293号公報JP 2003-182293 A 特開平5-201199号公報Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 5-201199

If the decorative material is embedded in resin as in the method disclosed in Patent Document 1, the three-dimensional effect and texture of the decorative material may be lost. If the decorative material is fixed by interposing individual adhesive layers between the decorative material and the base as in the method disclosed in Patent Document 2, the three-dimensional effect of the decorative material may be utilized, but it is necessary to glue many materials individually, and the production requires a considerable amount of work. If more than the appropriate amount of adhesive is applied, there is a risk of the adhesive overflowing from the decorative material, which may impair the aesthetic appearance of the decorative item. The method disclosed in Patent Document 3 is based on the premise of using a mixture of the decorative material and granular resin, and is limited in the decorative materials that can be applied.

The present invention aims to provide decorative items that can enhance the aesthetic sense by utilizing the three-dimensional effect and texture of various decorative materials, and that can reduce the workload required for their creation.

The decorative article (1) according to one aspect of the present invention includes a base (2), a decorative material (3) placed on the surface (2a) of the base, and a resin layer (4) provided on the surface of the base to fix the decorative material to the base. The decorative material is provided as a decorative object (3A, 3B, 3C, 3G, 3H) that is partially embedded in the resin layer and the remainder is exposed outside the resin layer, and the resin layer is provided so as to extend beyond the fixed position of the decorative material.

According to the decorative article of the above aspect, by providing the decorative object so that it is exposed from the resin layer, the three-dimensional effect and texture of the decorative object can be utilized. By providing the resin layer not only at the fixed position of the decorative material but also so that it extends beyond that fixed position, the texture such as the glossiness of the resin layer can be used as a means to enhance the decorativeness or design. The synergistic effect of these two can enhance the aesthetics of the decorative article. By using the resin layer as a means to enhance the decorativeness and design of the decorative article, the time-consuming task of applying an appropriate amount of resin to match the decorative material is eliminated, and it is also possible to reduce the workload required to create the decorative article.

In the decorative article of the above aspect, a decorative object (3D, 3E, 3F) that is entirely embedded in the resin layer may be further provided as the decorative material. In this way, the aesthetic appeal of the decorative article can be further enhanced by appropriately interweaving and arranging the decorative object exposed from the resin layer and the decorative object entirely embedded in the resin layer.

The resin layer may be provided so as to extend to the outer edge (2b) of the surface of the base. In this way, by spreading the resin layer over the entire surface of the base, the work of selectively forming a resin layer on the surface of the base is unnecessary, and it is possible to efficiently create an ornament with fewer steps.

The base and the resin layer may each be transparent to visible light. This allows the decorative item to have an appearance that makes it appear as if the decorative material is floating.

A method for producing an ornament (1) according to one aspect of the present invention includes the steps of surrounding a base (2) with a shield (10), placing a decorative material (3) on the surface of the base, pouring a resin (12) into the surface of the base surrounded by the shield and on which the decorative material is placed to form a resin layer (4), and removing the shield after the resin layer has hardened. In the step of forming the resin layer, the pouring amount of the resin is set so that the decorative material is an exposed-type ornament (3A, 3B, 3C, 3G, 3H) that is partially embedded in the resin layer and the remaining portion is exposed outside the resin layer, and the range of the resin layer is set so that the resin layer extends beyond the fixed position of the decorative material.

According to the above-mentioned embodiment of the manufacturing method, the decorative item of the above-mentioned embodiment can be manufactured by carrying out each step. Since the decorative material is fixed by forming a resin layer by pouring resin onto the surface of the base, the resin layer can be formed more easily and efficiently than when an appropriate amount of resin is applied to the fixing position of the decorative material. This makes it possible to reduce the effort required to manufacture the decorative item.

In the above-described method, the step of forming the resin layer may set the range of the resin layer so that the resin layer extends to the outer edge (2b) of the surface of the base. This allows the resin layer to be formed by pouring the resin over almost the entire surface of the base. This eliminates the need to selectively form a resin layer on the surface of the base, making it possible to efficiently create decorative items with fewer steps.

In the step of forming the resin layer, resin may be applied to the boundary area between the outer edge of the surface of the base and the obstruction prior to pouring the resin. This allows the resin to be allowed to soak into the outer edge of the base and the obstruction surrounding it before pouring in the resin to form the resin layer. This prevents unintended variations in thickness, etc. of the resin layer near the outer edge of the base, and helps maintain and improve the aesthetic appeal of the decorative item.

After removing the obstruction, a further step may be performed of polishing the area from the outer edge of the base to the side surface (2d) connected to the outer edge. Even if the resin layer forms a relatively sharp corner near the boundary with the obstruction, or if the resin leaks onto the side surface of the base and hardens, polishing these areas will improve the appearance of the resin layer near the outer edge of the base, further enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the decorative item.

As the decorative material, a plurality of decorative objects (3A-3H) including the exposed type decorative object may be prepared, and in the step of forming the resin layer, the resin may be poured in a plurality of times, and in the step of placing the decorative material, the decorative objects may be placed in a plurality of times with at least one pour of resin sandwiched between them. This allows the decorative object placed first to be sufficiently and securely embedded in the resin layer to prevent misalignment, while the decorative object placed later can be appropriately fixed to the resin layer 4 while a portion of it can be reliably exposed outside the resin layer. By placing the decorative objects in a separated manner with a pour of resin sandwiched between them, it is possible to create height differences in the decorative objects within the resin layer, thereby enhancing the sense of depth of the decorative material within the resin layer and further improving the aesthetics of the decorative object.

One embodiment of the present invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, a decorative item 1 according to one embodiment includes a base 2, a plurality of decorative objects 3A, 3B, ... 3H as decorative material 3 arranged on a surface 2a of the base 2 (see Fig. 2), and a resin layer 4 provided on the surface 2a of the base 2 to fix the decorative material 3 to the base 2.

The base 2 is a member that fixes the decorative material 3 and serves as the basic structure of the decorative item 1. As an example, a transparent acrylic plate that transmits visible light is used as the base 2. The base 2 is not limited to being flat, and may be formed into a block, rod, or other various shapes as long as it has a surface sufficient to fix the decorative material 3. The material of the base 2 is also not limited to being acrylic, and various materials such as glass, wood, stone, and the like may be selected. The material of the base 2 is not limited to being transparent. Even if the base 2 is made of a transparent material, the transparency may be selected as appropriate. The base 2 may be made of a colored transparent material.

The decorative material 3 is used as a material that gives decorativeness or design to the decorative item 1. As the decorative material 3, various items may be appropriately selected, such as artificial flowers such as art flowers, crafts made from materials such as glass or metal, artificially made items such as jewelry, items made by processing natural materials such as preserved flowers or dried flowers, or natural materials themselves such as shells.

As described above, the resin layer 4 functions as a means for fixing the decorative material 3 to the base 2, and is provided so as to function as a means for enhancing the decorativeness or design of the decorative item 1. With regard to the fixing of the decorative material 3, the thickness of the resin layer 4 is set so that embedded-type decorative objects, which are entirely embedded in the resin layer 4, and exposed-type decorative objects, which are partially embedded in the resin layer 4 and the remaining part exposed from the resin layer 4, are generated. In the illustrated example, the decorative objects 3D, 3E, and 3F correspond to embedded-type decorative objects, and the decorative objects 3A, 3B, 3C, 3G, and 3H correspond to exposed-type decorative objects. However, it is not necessarily necessary that two types of decorative objects, embedded and exposed, are provided as the decorative material 3. In order to achieve the object of the present invention, it is sufficient that at least exposed-type decorative objects are provided. By providing exposed-type decorative objects, for example, it is possible to obtain a decorative item 1 that fully utilizes its three-dimensionality and material feel by fixing three-dimensional artificial flowers in the resin layer 4 while protruding the main parts from the resin layer 4. For example, decoration 3A imitates the leaves of a plant, decoration 3B imitates the flowers of a plant, and decoration 3C imitates the branches of a plant. By embedding parts of them, such as the bases and stems, in the resin layer 4 while exposing the leaves, flowers, branches, and other externally distinctive parts, it is possible to fully utilize the three-dimensional effect and texture of the decorative material to enhance the aesthetic appeal of decorative item 1.

The resin layer 4 is provided so as to cover the surface 2a of the base 2 not only at the fixed position of the decorative material 3 but also in the area where the decorative material 3 is not present. As an example, the resin layer 4 is provided so as to cover the entire surface 2a of the base 2, in other words, to extend to the outer edge 2b of the surface 2a of the base 2. However, the resin layer 4 does not necessarily have to be provided so as to cover the entire surface 2a of the base 2. As long as the resin layer 4 extends beyond the fixed position of the decorative material 3, there may be an area on a part of the surface 2a of the base 2 that is not covered by the resin layer 4. In other words, the surface 2a of the base 2 may be partially exposed. In FIG. 2, the surface 4a of the resin layer 4 is drawn flat, but at least a part of the surface 4a of the resin layer 4 may be uneven. By extending the resin layer 4 beyond the fixed position of the decorative material 3, the resin layer 4 itself can be used as a means for enhancing the decorativeness or design of the decorative item 1. For example, the texture of the resin layer 4, such as the glossiness, can be used as a means for enhancing the decorativeness and design. There is no need to take the time to glue each of the decorative objects 3A-3H together individually with resin, and there is also no need to take the time to manage the amount of resin used so that the resin layer 4 is hidden behind the decorative material 3. This reduces the workload required to create the decorative item 1.

The resin layer 4 is transparent to visible light, just like the base 2. In other words, the resin layer 4 is formed of a resin material that maintains its transparency to visible light even after it hardens. By imparting transparency to the resin layer 4, the texture of the surface of the decorative item 1 can be changed from the texture of the surface 2a of the base 2 by the resin layer 4 without impairing the transparency of the base 2, and the texture of the resin material, such as gloss and transparency, can be added to the decorative item 1 to enhance its decorativeness and design. However, the resin layer 4 is not limited to being transparent. The resin layer 4 may be opaque. Even when the resin layer 4 is made transparent, its transparency may be selected appropriately. A transparent resin with a color may be used for the resin layer 4.

Next, an example of a method for creating the decorative item 1 will be described with reference to Figures 3 to 7. First, in preparation for creation, the base 2, decorative material 3, and resin material for forming the resin layer 4 are prepared. If the resin material requires a hardener, the hardener must be mixed in advance in an appropriate ratio. The time required for the resin material to harden can be set appropriately so long as the hardening is not complete before all of the decorative objects 3A to 3H have been placed and an appropriate amount of resin has been poured. As an example, the hardening time can be set so that hardening is complete within half a day to several days.

When preparations are complete, the base 2 is turned over as shown in FIG. 3, and masking tape 10, an example of a shielding material, is applied to the entire outer periphery of the back surface 2c of the base 2. Next, as shown in FIG. 4, the base 2 is turned over and the previously applied masking tape 10 is folded back to surround the periphery of the base 2 with the masking tape 10. In other words, a surrounding wall 10a made of the masking tape 10 is formed on the outside of the front surface 2a of the base 2. Note that if a protective sheet 11 is applied to the front surface 2a and back surface 2c of the base 2, the protective sheet 11 on the back surface 2c is peeled off when the masking tape 10 is applied (FIG. 3), and the protective sheet 11 on the front surface 2a is peeled off when the masking tape 10 is folded back.

Next, as shown in FIG. 5, resin 12 is applied to the boundary area between the outer edge 2b of the surface 2a of the base 2 and the surrounding wall 10a of the masking tape 10, i.e., the entire outer periphery of the surface 2a, and a wait is performed until the applied resin 12 is adequately blended with the surface 2a of the base 2. The waiting time may be used to consider the placement of the decorative material 3. The applied resin 12 forms part of the resin layer 4. By applying the resin 12 to the outer periphery of the surface 2a in advance, it is possible to prevent unintended variations in thickness, etc. of the resin layer 4 near the outer edge 2b of the base 2, and to maintain and improve the aesthetics of the decorative item 1.

After the waiting is completed, as shown in FIG. 6, a part of the decorative material 3, that is, a part of the decoration, is placed on the surface 2a of the base 2. At least embedded decorations 3D, 3E, and 3F, which should be entirely embedded in the resin layer 4, are selected as the decorative material to be placed at this stage. In addition, even if it is an exposed decoration, decoration 3C, most of which should be embedded in the resin layer 4, may also be placed at this stage. After the placement of the part of the decorative material 3 is completed, resin 12 is poured onto the surface 2a of the base 2. The amount of resin at this time is limited to a part of the amount necessary to form the resin layer 4. However, it is not necessary to pour an amount of resin 12 that completely buries the embedded decorations 3D, 3E, and 3F that have already been placed in the resin 12. At this stage, parts of decorations 3D, 3E, and 3F may be exposed from the resin 12.

After some of the resin 12 has been poured, the remainder of the decorative material 3, as shown in FIG. 7, in the illustrated example, the decorations 3A, 3B, 3G, and 3H are placed on top of the resin 12 poured into the base 2. The remaining resin 12 is then poured onto the surface 2a of the base 2. The amount of resin at this time is adjusted so that the entire embedded decorations 3D, 3E, and 3F are buried in the resin 12, and the exposed decorations 3A, 3B, 3G, and 3H are partially exposed outside the resin 12. This allows the formation of a resin layer 4 having the thickness described above.

After the resin 12 has been poured, the resin 12 is allowed to harden, and the masking tape 10 is removed after the resin 12 has hardened. At this point, the resin layer 4 may have relatively sharp corners at the outer edge 2b of the surface 2a of the base 2, or some of the resin 12 may have leaked and hardened on the side surface 2d of the base 2. Therefore, after removing the masking tape 10, the area from the outer edge 2b of the base 2 to the side surface 2d (see FIG. 1) connected to the outer edge 2b is polished with an abrasive such as a compound. This improves the appearance of the area near the outer edge 2b of the base 2, thereby further enhancing the beauty of the decorative item 1. In the illustrated example, the masking tape 10 is used as a shield, but the shield may be changed as appropriate as long as it can prevent the resin from leaking from the surface 2a of the base 2 to the side surface 2d. For example, a rigid body such as a formwork, an elastic body such as a rubber plate, etc. may be used as the shield.

According to the above-mentioned manufacturing method, the decorative item 1 shown in FIG. 1 can be manufactured with a relatively small number of steps. That is, the periphery of the base 2 is surrounded by masking tape 10, resin 12 is applied to the outer periphery of the surface 2a, and the decorative material 3 is arranged and the resin 12 is poured in twice. After that, the decorative item 1 can be completed by simply removing the masking tape 10 and polishing it. The resin layer 4 is not only used as a means for fixing the decorative material 3, but also as a means for covering the surface 2a of the base 2 outside the fixing position of the decorative material 3 to give the decorative item 1 a glossy texture, so there is no need for the time-consuming task of applying the resin 12 while aligning it with each of the decorative objects 3A to 3H, and there is no need to proceed with the work while paying attention to the resin 12 protruding from the decorative material 3.

In the above-mentioned manufacturing method, the arrangement of the decorative material 3 and the pouring of the resin 12 are performed in two separate steps. For example, the decorative material 3 placed first can be sufficiently and reliably embedded in the resin layer 4 to prevent misalignment, while the decorative material 3 placed later can be appropriately fixed in the resin layer 4 while a part of it can be reliably exposed outside the resin layer 4. Moreover, it is possible to create height differences among the various decorative materials 3 in the resin layer 4. This also provides an effect of enhancing the sense of depth of the decorative material 3 in the resin layer 4. When the arrangement of the decorative material 3 and the pouring of the resin 12 are performed in multiple separate steps, the number of times they are performed is not limited to two, and they may be performed three or more times. When the resin 12 is poured in multiple separate steps, it is sufficient to arrange the decorative object in multiple separate steps with at least one pouring of the resin 12 sandwiched between them. On the other hand, the arrangement of the decorative material 3 and the pouring of the resin 12 may each be performed once to create the decorative item 1. In this case, the decorative item 1 can be created with the least number of steps.

The ornament 1 created as described above can be used for decorative purposes, for example, by hanging it on a wall or by propping it up on a suitable base.
