Description
The present invention relates to a method for producing printed matter and a printing machine.
Lithographic printing is a printing method that is widely used as a system for producing printed materials at high speed, in large quantities, and at low cost. In recent years, the use of active energy ray-curable inks, which cure instantly when exposed to active energy rays from sources such as mercury lamps, metal halide lamps, light-emitting diodes, and electron beams, has spread to many fields due to their advantages in terms of equipment, safety, the environment, and productivity.
Traditionally, lithographic printing methods have often used paper as a substrate, but printing on plastic films and other materials is becoming more common as substrates become more diverse. In particular, in recent years, studies have begun on the application of this method to printing on flexible packaging used for everyday items, food, medicines, etc., which uses thin plastic film as a substrate.
When using a substrate such as plastic film, unlike paper, the ink does not penetrate the substrate, making it difficult to transfer the ink from the blanket to the substrate.
Therefore, in order to improve ink transferability, it has been proposed to use a blanket with high rubber hardness and to increase the pressure when pressing the blanket against the plate (for example,
In the methods described in
In lithographic printing, when the pressure when the blanket is pressed against the lithographic plate (hereinafter referred to as plate pressure) is high, good ink transfer is obtained and the density of the printed matter can be increased with a small amount of ink supplied, improving smear resistance, but the surface of the lithographic plate is easily scratched by the blanket, reducing printing durability. On the other hand, when the pressure when the blanket is pressed against the substrate (hereinafter referred to as printing pressure) is high, good ink transfer is obtained and the density of the printed matter can be increased with a small amount of ink supplied, improving smear resistance. In conventional lithographic printing methods, the amount of pressure between the blanket and the lithographic plate and the amount of pressure between the blanket and the substrate are both set to the same value in order to improve smear resistance, so the plate pressure and printing pressure are both high to the same extent, making it difficult to reduce the burden on the printing press and substrate, and to achieve both printing durability and smear resistance.
The problem that the present invention aims to solve is to provide a method for producing printed matter that reduces the burden on the printing press and substrate, and achieves both improved printing durability and good resistance to scumming.

The arithmetic mean roughness (Ra) of the surface of the transfer layer is preferably 0.4 μm or more, since this increases the amount of ink held by the blanket, improves ink transfer from the plate to the blanket and from the blanket to the substrate, and provides excellent smear resistance. More preferably, it is 0.8 μm or more, and even more preferably, it is 1.2 μm or more. Ra is preferably 2.2 μm or less, since this reduces the unevenness of the ink film surface transferred to the substrate, suppresses diffuse reflection of light, and enables high density to be expressed with a small amount of ink, providing excellent smear resistance. More preferably, it is 2.0 μm or less, and even more preferably, it is 1.8 μm or less.
The base fabric layer has the role of imparting hardness and durability to the blanket, and is formed under the transfer layer. The base fabric layer is composed of at least one woven fabric having warp fibers and weft fibers formed of natural or synthetic materials. The fiber materials are not particularly limited, but cotton, polyester, nylon, and rayon can be used as appropriate. In terms of improving durability, it is preferable that the warp fibers are made of natural materials such as cotton, and the weft fibers are made of synthetic fiber materials (e.g., polyester). The thickness of one base fabric layer is not particularly limited, but is preferably 50 μm or more in order to improve durability. It is more preferably 75 μm or more, and even more preferably 100 μm or more. It is preferably 500 μm or less in order to reduce the hardness of the blanket and improve printing durability, more preferably 400 μm or less, and even more preferably 300 μm or less.
The compression layer is preferably configured as a layer below the transfer layer in order to help achieve the correlation between the amount of blanket pressing and the pressure (hereinafter referred to as the "blanket compression characteristics") as shown in FIG. 1, for example. The stacking order is not particularly limited, but may be transfer layer/compression layer/base fabric layer, or transfer layer/compression layer/base fabric layer/adhesive layer. When there are two or more compression layers and base fabric layers, they may be configured as transfer layer/first compression layer/second compression layer/first base fabric layer/second base fabric layer/third base fabric layer/fourth base fabric layer/adhesive layer. In this case, the layers below the transfer layer may be stacked in any order.
The material of the compression layer is not particularly limited, but may be any of the following: polyimide resin, polyamideimide resin, polyamide resin, polyethylene terephthalate resin, polyethylene naphthalate resin, polycarbonate resin, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) resin, poly(methyl (meth)acrylate resin, polyvinylidene fluoride resin, polyvinyl chloride resin, polyvinylidene chloride resin, polyvinyl alcohol resin, polyethylene resin, polypropylene resin, polyurethane resin, and other resins; and rubbers such as ethylene-propylene rubber (EPM), ethylene-propylene-diene rubber (EPDM), acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBR), carboxylated acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (XNBR), acrylic rubber (ACM), chloroprene rubber (CR), epoxidized natural rubber (ENR), hydrogenated acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (HNBR), and urethane rubber; sponges made from the above-mentioned resins and rubbers; and polymer matrices in which small space-forming materials or microspheres are uniformly dispersed in the above-mentioned resins and rubbers. Since it is desirable for deformation in the in-plane direction to be small in order to prevent a decrease in printing position accuracy, it is preferable for it to be composed of a sponge made by foaming the various resins mentioned above, and a polymer matrix in which small space forming materials or microspheres are uniformly dispersed in the various resins mentioned above.
The thickness of one compressed layer is not particularly limited, but is preferably 50 μm or more, since it is desirable to have small deformation in the in-plane direction in order to prevent a decrease in printing position accuracy. More preferably, it is 100 μm or more, and even more preferably, it is 150 μm or more. In order to increase the pressure when the blanket is pressed in, thereby improving ink transferability and background smear resistance, it is preferable that the thickness is 600 μm or less, more preferably 500 μm or less, and even more preferably 400 μm or less.
The material for the adhesive layer is not particularly limited, but thermoplastic resin, thermosetting resin, synthetic rubber, natural rubber, etc. can be used as appropriate. In terms of improving the adhesive strength with adjacent layers, it is preferable to use polyurethane, acrylic resin, polysulfide, polyvinyl chloride, modified polyolefin, polyurea, butadiene rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber, chloroprene rubber, and silicone rubber.
To place the blanket on the blanket cylinder, an adhesive layer may be provided on the surface opposite the transfer layer. The material of the adhesive layer is not particularly limited, but thermoplastic resin, thermosetting resin, synthetic rubber, and natural rubber can be used as appropriate. In terms of improving the adhesive strength with adjacent layers and the blanket cylinder, it is preferable to use polyurethane, acrylic resin, polysulfide, polyvinyl chloride, modified polyolefin, polyurea, butadiene rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber, chloroprene rubber, and silicone rubber.
In the method for producing a printed matter according to the present invention, it is preferable that the blanket has two or more compressed layers with different porosities. The compressed layers may be adjacent to each other, or a layer other than the compressed layer may be located between them. In addition, two or more blankets with different porosities of the compressed layers may be stacked and used. For example, as shown in FIG. 2, it is preferable to have compressed
It is preferable that the porosity of at least one compressed layer is 45% by volume or more and 65% by volume or less, since this increases cushioning properties and allows the blanket pressure to be kept appropriately low in areas where the blanket indentation amount is small. By using such a blanket and adjusting the blanket/planographic indentation amount to 0.05 mm or more and 0.20 mm or less, it is possible to reduce damage caused by the blanket to the planographic plate surface while ensuring ink transferability, and thus improve printing durability, which is preferable. It is more preferable that the porosity is 46% by volume or more and 60% by volume or less, and even more preferable that it is 47% by volume or more and 55% by volume or less.
It is also preferable that the porosity of at least one other compressed layer is 20% by volume or more and 40% by volume or less, since the blanket pressure can be kept appropriately high in the region where the blanket pressure is high. By using such a blanket and adjusting the blanket/substrate pressure to 0.20 mm or more and 0.40 mm or less, the ink transferability from the blanket to the substrate is improved and the background smear resistance is excellent, which is preferable. It is more preferable that the porosity is 25% by volume or more and 38% by volume or less, and even more preferable that it is 30% by volume or more and 36% by volume or less.
In the method for producing printed matter according to the present invention, it is preferable that the blanket has a compressed layer in which there are two or more regions with different porosity. This means that the blanket has one or more compressed layers in which the porosity changes continuously or stepwise in the thickness direction. Here, the thickness direction refers to the direction along the perpendicular line at the surface of any compressed layer. By having such a compressed layer, it is possible to control the pressure so that a small amount of pressing indicates a low pressure and a large amount of pressing indicates a high pressure, as shown in FIG. 1, for example, thereby improving printing durability and scumming resistance.
<平版>
<Lithographic>
Lithographic printing is preferably used because it allows for high-speed, low-cost mass printing with lithographic printing ink. Lithographic printing includes a method using a waterless lithographic printing plate and a method using a water-based lithographic printing plate.
The lithographic plate used in the present invention preferably contains a substrate and at least a silicone rubber layer and a heat-sensitive layer provided on the substrate. Either the heat-sensitive layer or the silicone rubber layer may be located near the substrate, but the substrate, heat-sensitive layer, and silicone rubber layer are preferably located in this order. An example of such a lithographic plate is a waterless lithographic printing plate.
The substrate is not particularly limited, and any known dimensionally stable paper, metal, glass, film, etc. that have been used as substrates for conventional printing plates can be used. Of these substrates, aluminum plate is particularly preferred because it is dimensionally stable and inexpensive. Also, polyethylene terephthalate film is particularly preferred as a flexible substrate for light printing.
The heat-sensitive layer of a waterless lithographic printing plate preferably has the function of efficiently absorbing infrared or other laser light used to write an image and converting it into heat (light-to-heat conversion), and the heat decomposes at least the surface of the heat-sensitive layer, or increases its solubility in the developer, or reduces its adhesive strength with the silicone rubber layer. Such a heat-sensitive layer can contain, for example, a polymer having active hydrogen, an organic complex compound, and a composition containing a light-to-heat conversion substance.
It is desirable for the silicone rubber layer to be hydrophobic so as to repel ink and prevent it from adhering to the silicone rubber layer. Hydrophobicity here means that the contact angle with water is 60° or more. For this reason, it is preferable for the silicone rubber layer to contain a hydrophobic substance. Specific examples include silicone rubber, fluororesin, polyester resin, styrene butadiene rubber, nylon resin, nitrile rubber, polyvinyl acetate, urethane resin, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, polybutadiene, polyisoprene, polypropylene, polyethylene, etc. Among these, it is particularly preferable to use silicone rubber.
In the method for producing printed matter according to the present invention, the thickness of the surface silicone rubber layer of the waterless lithographic plate is preferably 2.5 μm or more in order to improve printing durability. More preferably, it is 3.0 μm or more, even more preferably, it is 3.5 μm or more, and even more preferably, it is 4.0 μm or more. On the other hand, in order to improve exposure and developability and improve the definition of the image area, it is preferably 5.0 μm or less. More preferably, it is 4.8 μm or less, and even more preferably, it is 4.6 μm or less.
A water-based lithographic printing plate includes a substrate, a photosensitive layer provided on the substrate, and a hydrophilic layer that may be optionally provided between the substrate and the photosensitive layer.
The substrate is not particularly limited, and any dimensionally stable hydrophilic substrate can be used. Of these substrates, an aluminum plate is particularly preferred because it is dimensionally stable and inexpensive. It is preferable to subject the aluminum plate to a surface treatment such as roughening or anodizing. Methods for roughening the surface of the aluminum plate include known methods such as mechanical, electrochemical, and chemical roughening.
The method for producing printed matter according to the present invention can use, for example, a printing method having an impression cylinder for each printing unit, or a printing method having a common impression cylinder for each printing unit (center impression printing method). In particular, the center impression printing method is a wet-on-wet printing method in which the ink is cured after printing in all colors. The ink film previously transferred to the substrate is pressed by the blanket of the rear cylinder while it is still uncured, which reduces the unevenness of the ink film surface and suppresses diffuse reflection of light, making it possible to express high density with a small amount of ink, and has excellent resistance to background smearing. In addition, the substrate is stable during printing, and good registration accuracy can be maintained, so that the diameter of the impression cylinder in the center impression printing method is preferably 2.0 m or more, more preferably 2.3 m or more, and even more preferably 2.6 m or more, in order to enable printing of a larger size image in the printing direction. For example, if the blanket/pressure cylinder push-in amount is 0.30 mm, a smaller diameter impression cylinder can reduce the contact area between the blanket and impression cylinder, reducing the burden on the machine, heat generated by the blanket, and uneven density of the ink transferred to the substrate. Therefore, the diameter of the impression cylinder is preferably 4.0 m or less, more preferably 3.7 m or less, and even more preferably 3.3 m or less.
Another embodiment of the method for producing a printed matter according to the present invention is to use a waterless lithographic printing ink, a waterless lithographic plate having a silicone rubber layer thickness of 3.0 μm to 5.0 μm, and a blanket in which the pressure required for a push-in amount of 0.15 mm is 50 N/cm 2 to 105 N/cm 2 and the pressure required for a push-in amount of 0.30 mm is 200 N/cm 2 to 800 N/cm 2 , and the arithmetic mean roughness (Ra) of the transfer layer of the blanket is 0.4 μm to 2.2 μm, and then an ink pattern formed on the surface of the lithographic plate is transferred to the blanket and then retransferred to the surface of a substrate. By using such a blanket and waterless lithographic plate, printing can be easily performed under general printing conditions within the scope of the invention according to

When a printed matter is produced using such a printing press, it is preferable because it is possible to obtain a printed matter having improved printing durability and good scumming resistance.

<Evaluation method>
(1) Blanket pressure (relationship between the amount of pressure and the pressure required)
A blanket measuring 30 mm x 30 mm was prepared and attached to the compression plate of a universal material testing machine (AG-50kNXplus, manufactured by Shimadzu Corporation). (For a blanket without adhesive treatment, a double-sided adhesive tape (ST-416P, tape thickness 0.125 mm (manufactured by Sumitomo 3M Limited)) was applied and attached to the compression plate.) FIT FORM UV was attached on top of the Airtack M attached to the compression plate, and evaluated as a double blanket structure.
The measurement terminals used were a compression pressure plate (upper) (dimensions:
The load value was divided by the blanket area and converted into pressure units. The above measurement was repeated three times, and the average value was calculated to obtain the relationship between the indentation amount and the pressure. Tables 1 and 2 show the pressure (N/ cm2 ) for each indentation amount at 0.05 mm intervals in the indentation amount range of 0.10 mm to 0.35 mm.
(2) Void ratio in blanket compressed layer For FIT FORM UV and Airtac M, the cross section of the blanket was observed using an optical microscope (ECLIPSE L200N, manufactured by Nikon Corporation) at a magnification of 20 times (TU Plan Fluor BD 20x, manufactured by Nikon Corporation). The void ratio in the compressed layer was calculated in percentage units by dividing the area of the voids in the compressed layer by the area of the entire compressed layer and multiplying by 100. Measurements were performed at any three points in the blanket compressed layer, and the average value obtained was taken as the void ratio in the blanket compressed layer.
(3) Measurement of arithmetic mean roughness (Ra) of blanket surface The blanket surface was measured using a surface roughness measuring instrument (SURFCOM1400D, Tokyo Seimitsu Co., Ltd.) based on the method described in JIS B 0601:2013. A portion 5 cm or more inside from the edge of the blanket was measured for 5 mm in the direction corresponding to the printing direction at a speed of 0.1 mm/sec, and the average of the results of measuring five different measurement points was taken as the measured value. An arbitrary area on the blanket was selected as the measurement point.

(6) Smearing Resistance The temperature on the printing plate during printing was controlled to 29.5 to 30.5°C, and the ink supply rate was gradually increased to increase the solid indigo density of the printed matter. Printing was started from a solid ink density of 1.00, and the solid ink density was increased by 0.05 increments for evaluation. The density was evaluated using a spectrophotometer (X-Rite eXact, manufactured by xRite) under the following settings: illumination condition: M0, density status: ISO status E, density white standard: paper. Smearing resistance was judged to be poor when it was less than 1.45, somewhat good when it was 1.45 or more, good when it was 1.55 or more, and extremely good when it was 1.65 or more.
