- Developing Agents For Electrophotography (AREA)
Description
本発明は、電子写真法および静電記録法に用いられるトナー及びトナーの製造方法に関する。 The present invention relates to a toner used in electrophotography and electrostatic recording, and a method for producing the toner.
In recent years, laser beam printers (LBPs) have been required to have a longer service life than ever before, and the environments in which they are used are becoming more diverse. In order to meet these demands, further quality stability, that is, improvement in long-term durability is required under harsh environments.
Specifically, it is necessary to be able to print on more paper with one cartridge, and to maintain high image quality throughout durability. To this end, the toner is required to have no change in the surface of the toner throughout its life, and no change in the fluidity of the toner even at the end of its life. Furthermore, the cartridge is required to eliminate toner contamination and toner scratches on various members such as a charging roller and a photoreceptor drum.
Patent Document 1 discloses a toner that can suppress scratches on a photoreceptor drum by using hydrophobized amorphous silicone resin particles.
Patent Document 2 discloses that a polymethylsilsesquioxane fine particle containing an amorphous resin and a crystalline resin is used for the purpose of suppressing detachment of polymethylsilsesquioxane fine particles from toner base particles and improving image defects and contamination in an image forming apparatus. A toner is disclosed that includes toner base particles and an external additive containing polyorganosilsesquioxane fine particles having a number average particle diameter of 10 nm or more and less than 100 nm.
In the conventional techniques as described above, since the hardness of the silicone resin particles is not high, it is difficult to uniformly fix them to the toner base particles by dry mixing. Therefore, organosilicon polymer particles may be detached from the toner due to durability under harsh environments. As a result, the charging roller may be contaminated at the end of its life, causing charging problems, or the fluidity may be insufficient, resulting in insufficient frictional charging of the toner, resulting in fogging.
In other words, an object of the present invention is to provide a toner and a method for producing the toner that can exhibit stable developability without any adverse effects on images and maintain high image quality.

本発明によれば、トナー母粒子と有機ケイ素重合体粒子を混合し、熱風により表面処理を行うことで、有機ケイ素重合体粒子をトナーに均一固着するが可能である。その結果、長期の耐久期間においても有機ケイ素重合体粒子をトナー母粒子表面に維持することが可能となる。つまり、画像弊害なく安定した現像性を発揮し高画質を維持することが可能なトナーの製造方法を提供することにある。 According to the present invention, it is possible to uniformly adhere the organosilicon polymer particles to the toner by mixing toner base particles and organosilicon polymer particles and performing surface treatment with hot air. As a result, it becomes possible to maintain the organosilicon polymer particles on the surface of the toner base particles even during a long durability period. In other words, it is an object of the present invention to provide a method for producing a toner that can exhibit stable developability and maintain high image quality without any adverse effects on images.
本発明を実施するための形態について説明する。 A mode for carrying out the present invention will be described.
The present inventors have provided a method for producing a toner comprising toner particles having toner base particles containing a binder resin, wax, and a colorant, and organosilicon polymer particles, the method comprising: the organic silicon polymer particles have an intention hardness of 0.10 GPa or more and 1.50 GPa or less at a load of 2 μN. have found a method for producing a toner, characterized in that the number average diameter of primary particles is 35 nm or more and 300 nm or less, and the dielectric constant εra measured at 10 Hz is 3.5 or less.
本発明者らの検討によれば、本発明の有機ケイ素重合体粒子とトナーの製造方法により、有機ケイ素重合体粒子をトナー母粒子表面に均一固着することが可能である。その結果、画像弊害なく安定した現像性を発揮し高画質を維持することが可能なる。以下にその詳細を説明する。 According to studies by the present inventors, the organosilicon polymer particles and toner manufacturing method of the present invention make it possible to uniformly adhere the organosilicon polymer particles to the surface of the toner base particles. As a result, it is possible to exhibit stable developability without image defects and maintain high image quality. The details will be explained below.
上述の通り有機ケイ素重合体粒子をトナー母粒子表面に均一固着することが困難である。固着が不十分な場合、耐久を通して有機ケイ素重合体粒子が、トナー粒子から脱離したり、微粒子の偏析による弊害が起きてしまう。そのため抜本的な対策とはなっていなかった。 As mentioned above, it is difficult to uniformly adhere organosilicon polymer particles to the surface of toner base particles. If the adhesion is insufficient, the organosilicon polymer particles may be detached from the toner particles during durability, or problems may occur due to segregation of fine particles. Therefore, it was not a drastic measure.
そこで本発明者らは、誘電率が低く静電凝集を起こし難い有機ケイ素重合体粒子を添加することで、有機ケイ素重合体粒子同士の静電凝集を抑制し、さらに、熱風による表面処理工程の前に混合することで有機ケイ素重合体粒子を物理的にトナー母粒子上に分散することで、より均一に固着させる手法を考案した。 Therefore, the present inventors suppressed electrostatic aggregation between organosilicon polymer particles by adding organosilicon polymer particles that have a low dielectric constant and do not easily cause electrostatic aggregation. We devised a method to physically disperse the organosilicon polymer particles onto the toner base particles by mixing them beforehand, thereby making them more uniformly adhered to the toner base particles.
すなわち、本発明者らは、まず静電凝集のメカニズムに着目した。 That is, the present inventors first focused on the mechanism of electrostatic aggregation.
一般に紛体粒子の静電凝集は、異なる帯電特性を持つ粒子がそれぞれ正と負に帯電し、クーロン力により引き合い凝集すると考えられる。しかし組成的に同質・一様である微粒子中に正帯電・負帯電を起こす粒子が別個に存在するとは考え難い。 In general, electrostatic aggregation of powder particles is thought to involve particles with different charging characteristics being charged positively and negatively, respectively, and attracted and agglomerated by Coulomb force. However, it is difficult to imagine that positively charged and negatively charged particles exist separately among fine particles that are compositionally homogeneous and uniform.
そのため本発明者らは、有機ケイ素重合体粒子の静電凝集は正帯電・負帯電粒子の存在によるものではなく、より微視的なレベルでの静電相互作用によるものであると推察した。具体的には分子レベルでの永久双極子や励起双極子による静電的な凝集力、いわゆるvan der Waals力によるものであると考えた。有機ケイ素重合体粒子同士の場合、粒子表面のvan der Waals力は作用するため、凝集塊を形成してしまったと考えられる。 Therefore, the present inventors surmised that the electrostatic aggregation of organosilicon polymer particles is not due to the presence of positively or negatively charged particles, but is due to electrostatic interactions at a more microscopic level. Specifically, it was thought that this is due to the so-called van der Waals force, which is an electrostatic cohesive force due to permanent dipoles and excited dipoles at the molecular level. In the case of organosilicon polymer particles, the van der Waals force on the surface of the particles acts, which is thought to have caused the formation of agglomerates.
そこで本発明者らは、有機ケイ素重合体粒子の電気的特性を制御することを考えた。具体的には永久双極子・励起双極子の分極度合が小さければ静電凝集も起き難いため、有機ケイ素重合体粒子同士の静電凝集塊が形成し難くなると考えた。 Therefore, the present inventors considered controlling the electrical properties of organosilicon polymer particles. Specifically, it was thought that if the polarization level of the permanent dipole/excited dipole is small, electrostatic aggregation is less likely to occur, and therefore electrostatic agglomerates of organosilicon polymer particles are less likely to form.
有機ケイ素重合体粒子の電気的特性の指標として、本発明者らは比誘電率に着目した。有機ケイ素重合体粒子表面の分子の永久双極子・励起双極子によるvan der waals力を直接測定することは困難であるが、電場中での分子の分極し易さを示す比誘電率であれば簡便に測定が可能である。 The present inventors focused on the dielectric constant as an index of the electrical properties of organosilicon polymer particles. Although it is difficult to directly measure the van der Waals force due to permanent dipoles and excited dipoles of molecules on the surface of organosilicon polymer particles, it is difficult to directly measure the van der Waals force due to permanent dipoles and excited dipoles of molecules on the surface of organosilicon polymer particles. It can be easily measured.
また実際の耐久現像時にトナーが最も撹拌・摺擦されトナー粒子表面のシリコーンが移動するトナー担持体周辺では、現像バイアス等の電場がかかるため、静電凝集の指標として電場中の分子の分極度合、つまりは比誘電率が適当であると考えた。比誘電率が小さい値であれば、所望の効果を発揮し、高画質化が達成されると考えられる。 In addition, during actual durable development, an electric field such as a developing bias is applied around the toner carrier where the toner is most agitated and rubbed and the silicone on the toner particle surface moves, so the degree of polarization of molecules in the electric field is used as an indicator of electrostatic aggregation. In other words, the relative dielectric constant was considered to be appropriate. It is thought that if the relative permittivity is a small value, the desired effect will be exhibited and high image quality will be achieved.
次に、本発明についてさらに詳細に説明する。 Next, the present invention will be explained in more detail.
When the intention hardness of the organosilicon polymer particles at a load of 2 μN is 0.10 GPa or more and 1.50 GPa or less, stable fluidity can be maintained throughout durability while suppressing scratches on the drum. When the intention hardness is less than 0.10 GPa, the organosilicon polymer particles are soft and deform due to durability, so fluidity tends to deteriorate. On the other hand, if the intention hardness is higher than 1.50 GPa, the drum may be damaged in long-term durable image output.
有機ケイ素重合体粒子の個数平均粒径は35nm以上300nm以下であると、耐久現像時にトナーが摺擦されたときに、トナー劣化が抑制できるため好ましい。具体的には、トナーがストレスを受けた時に有機ケイ素重合体粒子が脱離したり、埋め込まれたりされにくいため好ましい。より好ましくは、40nm以上250nm以下である。 It is preferable that the number average particle diameter of the organosilicon polymer particles is 35 nm or more and 300 nm or less because toner deterioration can be suppressed when the toner is rubbed during durable development. Specifically, it is preferable because the organosilicon polymer particles are less likely to be detached or embedded when the toner is subjected to stress. More preferably, it is 40 nm or more and 250 nm or less.
If it is smaller than 35 nm, fine particles will be embedded when the toner is rubbed, resulting in poor fluidity and insufficient frictional charging between the developing roller and the developing blade. As a result, fog occurs where the toner is developed in areas other than the image forming area, and transfer residual ghosts also occur. On the other hand, if it is larger than 300 nm, the organosilicon polymer particles cannot be stably fixed to the surface of the toner base particles even if surface treatment is performed using hot air. As a result, this is not preferable because it causes contamination of the developing roller.
有機ケイ素重合体粒子の10Hzで測定される比誘電率εraは3.5以下であると、それ自体が電場中で静電凝集を起こし難いため好ましい。3.5より大きいと電場中での永久双極子・励起双極子によるvan der waals力が過大となり、有機ケイ素重合体粒子同士で凝集してしまい所望の解砕効果を発揮できないため好ましくない。 It is preferable that the relative permittivity ε ra of the organosilicon polymer particles measured at 10 Hz is 3.5 or less because the particles themselves are unlikely to cause electrostatic aggregation in an electric field. If it is larger than 3.5, the van der Waals force due to permanent dipoles and excited dipoles in the electric field becomes excessive, and the organosilicon polymer particles aggregate with each other, making it impossible to exhibit the desired crushing effect, which is not preferable.
The organosilicon polymer particles are preferably blended in an amount of 0.5 parts by mass or more and 6.0 parts by mass or less with respect to 100 parts by mass of the toner base particles in order to obtain the effects of the present invention. When the amount is less than 0.5 part by mass, it becomes difficult to exhibit stable developability and maintain high image quality. When the amount is more than 6.0 parts by mass, particles that cannot be fixed are likely to be generated, making it difficult to obtain the effects of the present invention. 有機ケイ素重合体粒子の形状係数SF-1は114以下であると、耐久現像時のトナーの流動性が維持できるため好ましい。形状係数SF-1は粒子の丸さの度合いを表す指標であり、値が100であると真円となり、数値が大きくなるほど円から遠ざかり不定形になることを示す。 It is preferable that the shape factor SF-1 of the organosilicon polymer particles is 114 or less because the fluidity of the toner during durable development can be maintained. The shape factor SF-1 is an index representing the degree of roundness of a particle, and a value of 100 indicates a perfect circle, and a larger value indicates that the particle becomes farther from a circle and has an amorphous shape.

Since the body-blocking layer has a more uniform composition, good cleaning performance is achieved.
ここで、上記構造において、Siに4つの酸素原子が結合している構造を4官能性、Siに3つの酸素原子が結合している構造を3官能性、Siに2つの酸素原子が結合している構造を2官能性、Siに1つの酸素原子が結合している構造を1官能性と呼ぶ。 Here, in the above structure, a structure in which four oxygen atoms are bonded to Si is tetrafunctional, a structure in which three oxygen atoms are bonded to Si is trifunctional, and a structure in which two oxygen atoms are bonded to Si is trifunctional. 有機ケイ素重合体微粒子は、ケイ素原子と酸素原子が交互に結合した構造を有し、前記ケイ素原子の一部が、RaSiO3/2で表されるT単位構造を有していることが好ましい。なお、前記Raは炭化水素基であることが好ましく、炭素数1以上6以下のアルキル基又はフェニル基であることがより好ましい。 The organosilicon polymer fine particles have a structure in which silicon atoms and oxygen atoms are alternately bonded, and some of the silicon atoms may have a T unit structure represented by R a SiO 3/2 . preferable. 本発明のトナー母粒子において、荷電制御剤を添加して使用することも可能である。負帯電用の荷電制御剤としては、例えば、有機金属錯体、キレート化合物が有効で、その例としては、モノアゾ金属錯体;アセチルアセトン金属錯体;芳香族ハイドロキシカルボン酸または芳香族ダイカルボン酸の金属錯体およびその金属塩、無水物、エステル類やビスフェノールなどのフェノール誘導体類が挙げられる。 It is also possible to add a charge control agent to the toner base particles of the present invention. On the other hand, as charge control agents for positive charging, modified products such as nigrosine and fatty acid metal salts; quaternary ammonium salts such as tributylbenzylammonium-1-hydroxy-4-naphthosulfonate and tetrabutylammonium tetrafluoroborate; and their analogues, onium salts such as phosphonium salts, and lake pigments thereof; triphenylmethane dyes and lake pigments thereof (lake-forming agents include phosphotungstic acid, phosphomolybdic acid, phosphotungstomolybdic acid, tannins); metal salts of higher fatty acids; diorganotin oxides such as dibutyltin oxide, dioctyltin oxide, dicyclohexyltin oxide; dibutyltin borate, dioctyltin borate, dicyclohexyltin Examples include organotinborates such as borate.
これらの荷電制御剤は、単独でも或いは2種以上組み合わせて用いることが可能である。これらの荷電制御剤の使用量は、結着樹脂100質量部あたり0.1質量部以上5.0質量部以下が好ましい。 These charge control agents can be used alone or in combination of two or more. The amount of these charge control agents used is preferably 0.1 parts by mass or more and 5.0 parts by mass or less per 100 parts by mass of the binder resin.
本発明のトナーは、結着樹脂、着色剤及びワックスを少なくとも含有するトナー粒子に、前記有機ケイ素重合体粒子を含有しているが、さらに流動性向上のため、外添剤として無機微粉体を添加してもよい。 The toner of the present invention contains the organosilicon polymer particles in toner particles containing at least a binder resin, a colorant, and a wax, and further contains inorganic fine powder as an external additive to improve fluidity. May be added.
外添剤としては、シリカ、酸化アルミニウムの如き無機微粉体が好ましい。前記無機微粉体は、シラン化合物、シリコーンオイル又はそれらの混合物の如き疎水化剤で疎水化されていることが好ましい。 As the external additive, inorganic fine powder such as silica and aluminum oxide is preferred. Preferably, the inorganic fine powder is hydrophobized with a hydrophobizing agent such as a silane compound, silicone oil, or a mixture thereof.
本発明のトナーの製造方法については、ワックスおよび着色剤を含有するトナー母粒子を作製後に、有機ケイ素重合体粒子と混合し、その後、熱風により前記トナー母粒子の表面処理を行う工程を有する以外は、特に限定されず、従来公知の混練粉砕法、懸濁重合法、溶解懸濁法、乳化重合凝集法、乳化凝集法などの製造方法を用いることができる。 The method for producing the toner of the present invention includes the step of preparing toner base particles containing wax and a colorant, mixing them with organosilicon polymer particles, and then subjecting the toner base particles to surface treatment with hot air. is not particularly limited, and conventionally known manufacturing methods such as kneading and pulverization methods, suspension polymerization methods, dissolution suspension methods, emulsion polymerization aggregation methods, and emulsion aggregation methods can be used.
ここでは、粉砕法を用いたトナーの製造手順について説明する。 Here, a procedure for producing toner using a pulverization method will be described.
原料混合工程では、トナー粒子を構成する材料として、結着樹脂、着色剤、およびワックス、ならびに必要に応じて、荷電制御剤などの他の成分を所定量秤量して配合し、混合する。混合装置の一例としては、ダブルコン・ミキサー、V型ミキサー、ドラム型ミキサー、スーパーミキサー、ヘンシェルミキサー、ナウターミキサー、メカノハイブリッド(日本コークス工業(株)製)が挙げられる。 In the raw material mixing step, predetermined amounts of a binder resin, a colorant, a wax, and, if necessary, other components such as a charge control agent are weighed out, blended, and mixed as materials constituting the toner particles. Examples of the mixing device include a double con mixer, a V-type mixer, a drum-type mixer, a super mixer, a Henschel mixer, a Nauta mixer, and a mechano hybrid (manufactured by Nippon Coke Industry Co., Ltd.).
Next, the mixed materials are melted and kneaded to disperse wax and the like in the binder resin. In the melt-kneading step, a batch-type kneader such as a pressure kneader or a Banbury mixer, or a continuous-type kneader can be used. Single-screw or twin-screw extruders are the mainstream because of their advantage in continuous production. For example, KTK type twin screw extruder (manufactured by Kobe Steel, Ltd.), TEM type twin screw extruder (manufactured by Toshiba Machinery Co., Ltd.), PCM kneader (manufactured by Ikegai Tekko Co., Ltd.), twin screw extruder (manufactured by Ikegai Iron Works Co., Ltd.), (manufactured by K.C.K. Co., Ltd.), Co-kneader (manufactured by Busu Co., Ltd.), and Kneedex (manufactured by Nippon Coke Industry Co., Ltd.).
さらに、溶融混練することによって得られる樹脂組成物は、2本ロールなどで圧延され、冷却工程で水などによって冷却してもよい。 Furthermore, the resin composition obtained by melt-kneading may be rolled with two rolls or the like, and may be cooled with water or the like in a cooling step.
ついで、樹脂組成物の冷却物は、粉砕工程で所望の粒径にまで粉砕される。粉砕工程では、クラッシャー、ハンマーミル、フェザーミルなどの粉砕機で粗粉砕した後、さらに、クリプトロンシステム(川崎重工業(株)製)、スーパーローター(日清エンジニアリング(株)製)、ターボ・ミル(ターボ工業製)やエアージェット方式による微粉砕機で微粉砕する。 Next, the cooled resin composition is pulverized to a desired particle size in a pulverization step. In the pulverization process, after coarse pulverization is performed using pulverizers such as crushers, hammer mills, and feather mills, Kryptron System (manufactured by Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd.), Super Rotor (manufactured by Nissin Engineering Co., Ltd.), Turbo Mill, etc. (manufactured by Turbo Kogyo) or an air jet type pulverizer.
その後、必要に応じて慣性分級方式のエルボジェット(日鉄鉱業(株)製)、遠心力分級方式のターボプレックス(ホソカワミクロン(株)製)、TSPセパレータ(ホソカワミクロン(株)製)、ファカルティ(ホソカワミクロン(株)製)などの分級機や篩分機を用いて分級し、トナー母粒子を得る。 After that, if necessary, use an inertial classification type elbow jet (manufactured by Nippon Steel Mining Co., Ltd.), a centrifugal force classification type Turboplex (manufactured by Hosokawa Micron Co., Ltd.), a TSP separator (manufactured by Hosokawa Micron Co., Ltd.), a faculty (manufactured by Hosokawa Micron Co., Ltd.), The toner base particles are obtained by classification using a classifier or sieve machine (manufactured by Co., Ltd.).
このようにして得られた、トナー母粒子の表面に有機ケイ素重合体粒子を付着させる混合工程を経た後、熱風による表面処理を施し、必要に応じて分級機や篩分機を用いて分級し、トナー粒子を得ることができる。 After going through a mixing step in which organosilicon polymer particles are attached to the surface of the toner base particles obtained in this way, the surface is treated with hot air, and if necessary, it is classified using a classifier or sieve machine. Toner particles can be obtained.
付着工程においてトナー母粒子の表面に有機ケイ素重合体粒子を付着させる方法は特に制限されるものではなく、トナー母粒子と有機ケイ素重合体粒子とを所定量秤量して配合して混合する。 The method of attaching the organosilicon polymer particles to the surface of the toner base particles in the attachment step is not particularly limited, and a predetermined amount of toner base particles and organosilicon polymer particles are weighed, blended, and mixed.
また本発明の効果を損なわない範囲で、他の無機微粒子や荷電制御剤、流動性付与剤などを同時に配合することもできる。 Further, other inorganic fine particles, a charge control agent, a fluidity imparting agent, etc. may be added at the same time as long as the effects of the present invention are not impaired.
混合装置の一例としては、ダブルコン・ミキサー、V型ミキサー、ドラム型ミキサー、スーパーミキサー、ヘンシェルミキサー、ナウターミキサーがあり、それぞれ好ましく用いられる。 Examples of the mixing device include a double con mixer, a V-type mixer, a drum-type mixer, a super mixer, a Henschel mixer, and a Nauta mixer, each of which is preferably used.
トナー母粒子の表面に有機ケイ素重合体粒子をより均一に付着させることができる点で、混合装置としてヘンシェルミキサーを用いることがより好ましい。 It is more preferable to use a Henschel mixer as the mixing device since the organosilicon polymer particles can be more uniformly adhered to the surface of the toner base particles.
混合条件としては、混合羽根の回転速度が高いほど、混合時間が長いほど、トナー母粒子の表面に均一に窒化ホウ素粒子を付着させやすくなるため好ましい。 As for the mixing conditions, the higher the rotational speed of the mixing blade and the longer the mixing time, the more preferable it is because it becomes easier to uniformly adhere the boron nitride particles to the surface of the toner base particles.
ただし、混合羽根の回転数が高すぎたり、混合時間が長すぎたりすると、トナーと混合羽根との摩擦熱が高くなり、トナーが昇温して融着してしまうことがある。 However, if the rotational speed of the mixing blade is too high or the mixing time is too long, the frictional heat between the toner and the mixing blade increases, and the temperature of the toner may rise and fuse.
よって、混合羽根や、混合機に水冷ジャケットを設けるなどして、混合機を積極的に冷却することが好ましい。 Therefore, it is preferable to actively cool the mixer by providing a mixing blade or a water cooling jacket to the mixer.
混合羽根の回転数や、混合時間は、混合機内の温度が45℃以下となる範囲に調整することが好ましい。具体的には、混合羽根の最大周速は10.0m/秒以上150.0m/秒以下であることが好ましく、混合時間は0.5分以上60分以下の範囲で調整することが好ましい。 It is preferable to adjust the rotation speed of the mixing blade and the mixing time to a range where the temperature inside the mixer is 45° C. or less. Specifically, the maximum circumferential speed of the mixing blade is preferably 10.0 m/sec or more and 150.0 m/sec or less, and the mixing time is preferably adjusted within the range of 0.5 minutes or more and 60 minutes or less.
また、付着工程は、1段階で行っても、2段階以上の多段階で行ってもよく、それぞれの段階で用いる混合装置、混合条件およびトナー母粒子の配合などは、同一であっても異なっていても良い。 Further, the adhesion process may be performed in one step or in multiple steps of two or more, and the mixing device, mixing conditions, and toner base particle formulation used in each step may be the same or different. You can leave it there.
次に、トナー母粒子の表面処理に使用される装置としては、熱風を用いて処理前のトナー粒子の表面を溶融状態にする手段を有し、かつ、熱風を用いて処理されたトナー粒子を冷風で冷却できる手段を有したものであれば、どのようなものでもかまわない。 Next, the apparatus used for surface treatment of toner base particles has a means for melting the surface of toner particles before treatment using hot air, and has a means for melting the surface of toner particles before treatment using hot air. Any type of device may be used as long as it has a means for cooling with cold air.
そのような装置としては、例えば、メテオレインボー MR Type(日本ニューマチック工業(株)製)などが例示できる。 An example of such a device is Meteor Rainbow MR Type (manufactured by Nippon Pneumatic Kogyo Co., Ltd.).
熱風を用いた表面処理の方法の一態様を、図1を用いて説明するがこれに限定されない。 One embodiment of the surface treatment method using hot air will be described with reference to FIG. 1, but the present invention is not limited thereto.
図1は、本発明で用いた表面処理装置の断面図の一例である。表面処理の方法としては、具体的には、あらかじめトナー母粒子の表面に有機ケイ素重合体粒子を付着させたものを原料とし、前記原料を前記表面処理装置に供給する。 FIG. 1 is an example of a cross-sectional view of a surface treatment apparatus used in the present invention. Specifically, in the surface treatment method, organic silicon polymer particles are attached to the surface of toner base particles in advance as a raw material, and the raw material is supplied to the surface treatment apparatus.
そして、トナー粒子供給口100から供給されたトナー粒子114は、高圧エア供給ノズル115から噴射されるインジェクションエアにより加速され、その下方にある気流噴射部材102へ向かう。
The
気流噴射部材102からは拡散エアが噴射され、この拡散エアによりトナー粒子114が外側方向へ拡散する。このとき、インジェクションエアの流量と拡散エアの流量とを調節することにより、トナー粒子の拡散状態をコントロールすることができる。
Diffusion air is ejected from the
また、トナー粒子の融着防止を目的として、トナー粒子供給口100の外周、表面処理装置の外周および移送配管116の外周には冷却ジャケット106が設けられている。
Furthermore, cooling
なお、前記冷却ジャケットには冷却水(好ましくはエチレングリコールなどの不凍液)を通水することが好ましい。 Note that it is preferable that cooling water (preferably an antifreeze solution such as ethylene glycol) be passed through the cooling jacket.
一方、拡散エアにより拡散したトナー粒子は、熱風供給口101から供給された熱風により、トナー粒子の表面が処理される。
On the other hand, the surface of the toner particles diffused by the diffusion air is treated by the hot air supplied from the hot
このとき、熱風の吐出温度はトナーの軟化点以上であり、130℃以上300℃以下であることが好ましく、150℃以上250℃以下であることがより好ましい。 At this time, the hot air discharge temperature is higher than the softening point of the toner, preferably 130° C. or higher and 300° C. or lower, and more preferably 150° C. or higher and 250° C. or lower.
熱風の温度がトナーの軟化点以上であることで、結着樹脂が溶解し、その結果、有機ケイ素重合体粒子がトナー母粒子に固着される。 When the temperature of the hot air is equal to or higher than the softening point of the toner, the binder resin is dissolved, and as a result, the organosilicon polymer particles are fixed to the toner base particles.
熱風の吐出温度が300℃を超える場合にはトナー粒子の溶融状態が進みすぎてしまい、製造工程においてトナー粒子同士の合一が起こりやすくなり、トナー粒子が粗大化したり、装置内壁面へのトナー粒子の融着が酷くなったりする場合がある。 If the hot air discharge temperature exceeds 300°C, the melting state of the toner particles will progress too much, and toner particles will tend to coalesce with each other during the manufacturing process, causing the toner particles to become coarse and causing the toner to adhere to the inner wall surface of the device. Particle fusion may become severe.
The toner particles whose surfaces have been treated with hot air are cooled by cold air supplied from a cold
このとき、架橋反応時間を長く取れるように、熱風風量および冷風の風量を少なめに調整することが好ましい。 At this time, it is preferable to adjust the amount of hot air and cold air to a small value so that the crosslinking reaction time can be extended.
また、上記冷風は除湿空気であることが、架橋反応時に生成される水分子を系外に排出できるため好ましい。具体的には、冷風中の絶対水分量が5g/m3以下であることが好ましい。さらに好ましくは、3g/m3以下である。 Further, it is preferable that the cold air is dehumidified air because water molecules generated during the crosslinking reaction can be discharged out of the system. Specifically, it is preferable that the absolute moisture content in the cold air is 5 g/m 3 or less. More preferably, it is 3 g/m 3 or less.
その後、冷却されたトナー粒子は、ブロワーで吸引され、移送配管116を通じて、サイクロンなどで回収される。
Thereafter, the cooled toner particles are sucked by a blower, passed through a

<有機ケイ素重合体粒子の同定方法>
トナー中に含まれる有機ケイ素重合体粒子の同定方法はSEMによる形状観察およびEDSによる元素分析を組み合わせて行うことができる。
<Identification method of organosilicon polymer particles>
The organosilicon polymer particles contained in the toner can be identified by a combination of shape observation using SEM and elemental analysis using EDS.
走査型電子顕微鏡「S-4800」(商品名;日立製作所製)を用いて、最大5万倍に拡大した視野において、トナーを観察する。トナー粒子表面にピントを合わせて、外添剤を観察する。外添剤の各粒子に対してEDS分析を行い、Si元素ピークの有無から、分析した粒子が有機ケイ素重合体粒子であるか否かを判断する。 Using a scanning electron microscope "S-4800" (trade name; manufactured by Hitachi, Ltd.), the toner is observed in a field of view magnified up to 50,000 times. Focus on the toner particle surface and observe the external additive. EDS analysis is performed on each particle of the external additive, and it is determined from the presence or absence of a Si element peak whether the analyzed particle is an organosilicon polymer particle.
If the toner contains both organosilicon polymer particles and silica fine particles, the ratio of Si and O element contents (atomic%) (Si/O ratio) can be compared with the standard product. Identification of organosilicon polymers. Samples of organosilicon polymer particles and fine silica particles are subjected to EDS analysis under the same conditions to obtain the elemental contents (atomic %) of Si and O. Let A be the Si/O ratio of the organosilicon polymer particles, and B be the Si/O ratio of the silica fine particles. Select measurement conditions under which A is significantly larger than B. Specifically, the standard specimen is measured 10 times under the same conditions, and the arithmetic average values of each of A and B are obtained. Measurement conditions are selected such that the obtained average value is A/B>1.1.
判別対象の微粒子のSi/O比が[(A+B)/2]よりもA側にある場合に当前記微粒子を有機ケイ素重合体粒子と判断する。 When the Si/O ratio of the fine particles to be determined is on the A side rather than [(A+B)/2], the fine particles are determined to be organosilicon polymer particles.
有機ケイ素重合体粒子の標品として、トスパール120(モメンティブ・パフォーマンス・マテリアルズ・ジャパン合同会社)を、シリカ微粒子の標品として、HDK V15(旭化成)を用いる。 Tospearl 120 (Momentive Performance Materials Japan LLC) is used as a sample of organosilicon polymer particles, and HDK V15 (Asahi Kasei) is used as a sample of silica fine particles.

分散液をスイングローター用ガラスチューブ(50mL)に入れ替えて、遠心分離機(H-9R;株式会社コクサン社製)にて、58.33s-1、30分間の条件で遠心分離を行う。遠心分離後のガラスチューブ内においては、下層に比重の重いシリカ微粒子が含まれる。上層の有機ケイ素重合体を含むクロロホルム溶液を採取して、クロロホルムを真空乾燥(40℃/24時間)にて除去しサンプルを作製する。 The dispersion liquid is transferred to a swing rotor glass tube (50 mL), and centrifuged at 58.33 s -1 for 30 minutes using a centrifuge (H-9R; manufactured by Kokusan Co., Ltd.). In the glass tube after centrifugation, the lower layer contains fine silica particles with a heavy specific gravity. A chloroform solution containing the organosilicon polymer in the upper layer is collected, and the chloroform is removed by vacuum drying (40° C./24 hours) to prepare a sample.
上記サンプルまたは有機ケイ素重合体を用いて、有機ケイ素重合体の構成化合物の存在量比及び、有機ケイ素重合体中のT単位構造の割合を、固体29Si-NMRで測定・算出する。 Using the above sample or organosilicon polymer, the abundance ratio of the constituent compounds of the organosilicon polymer and the ratio of T unit structure in the organosilicon polymer are measured and calculated by solid state 29 Si-NMR.
固体29Si-NMRでは、有機ケイ素重合体を構成するSiに結合する官能基数によって、異なるシフト領域にピークが検出される。 In solid state 29 Si-NMR, peaks are detected in different shift regions depending on the number of functional groups bonded to Si constituting the organosilicon polymer.
各ピークの官能基数は標準サンプルを用いて特定することができる。また得られたピーク面積から各構成化合物の存在量比を算出することができる。全ピーク面積に対してT単位構造のピーク面積の割合を計算によって求めることができる。 The number of functional groups in each peak can be determined using standard samples. Furthermore, the abundance ratio of each constituent compound can be calculated from the obtained peak area. <トナーの平均円形度の算出方法>
トナーの平均円形度は、フロー式粒子像分析装置「FPIA-3000」(シスメックス(株)製)によって、校正作業時の測定および解析条件で測定する。
<How to calculate average circularity of toner>
The average circularity of the toner is measured using a flow type particle image analyzer "FPIA-3000" (manufactured by Sysmex Corporation) under measurement and analysis conditions during calibration work.
フロー式粒子像分析装置「FPIA-3000」(シスメックス(株)製)の測定原理は、流れている粒子を静止画像として撮像し、画像解析を行うというものである。試料チャンバーへ加えられた試料は、試料吸引シリンジによって、フラットシースフローセルに送り込まれる。フラットシースフローに送り込まれた試料は、シース液に挟まれて扁平な流れを形成する。 The measurement principle of the flow type particle image analyzer "FPIA-3000" (manufactured by Sysmex Corporation) is to capture a still image of flowing particles and perform image analysis. A sample added to the sample chamber is delivered to a flat sheath flow cell by a sample suction syringe. The sample sent into the flat sheath flow is sandwiched between the sheath liquid and forms a flat flow.
フラットシースフローセル内を通過する試料に対しては、1/60秒間隔でストロボ光が照射されており、流れている粒子を静止画像として撮影することが可能である。また、扁平な流れであるため、焦点の合った状態で撮像される。粒子像はCCDカメラで撮像され、撮像された画像は512×512画素の画像処理解像度(一画素あたり0.37×0.37μm)で画像処理され、各粒子像の輪郭抽出を行い、粒子像の投影面積Sや周囲長Lなどが計測される。 The sample passing through the flat sheath flow cell is irradiated with strobe light at 1/60 second intervals, making it possible to capture still images of flowing particles. Furthermore, since the flow is flat, the image is captured in a focused state. Particle images are captured by a CCD camera, and the captured images are processed at an image processing resolution of 512 x 512 pixels (0.37 x 0.37 μm per pixel) to extract the outline of each particle image and create a particle image. The projected area S, perimeter L, etc. of are measured.
次に、上記面積Sと周囲長Lを用いて円相当径と円形度を求める。円相当径とは、粒子像の投影面積と同じ面積を持つ円の直径のことであり、円形度Cは、円相当径から求めた円の周囲長を粒子投影像の周囲長で割った値として定義され、次式で算出される。
円形度C=2×(π×S)1/2/L
Next, the equivalent circle diameter and circularity are determined using the area S and the perimeter L. The equivalent circle diameter is the diameter of a circle that has the same area as the projected area of the particle image, and the circularity C is the value obtained by dividing the circumference of the circle obtained from the equivalent circle diameter by the circumference of the particle projection image. It is defined as and calculated using the following formula.
Circularity C=2×(π×S) 1/2 /L
粒子像が円形の時に円形度は1.000になり、粒子像外周の凹凸の程度が大きくなればなるほど円形度は小さい値になる。各粒子の円形度を算出後、円形度0.200~1.000の範囲を800分割し、得られた円形度の相加平均値を算出し、その値を平均円形度とする。 When the particle image is circular, the circularity is 1.000, and the greater the degree of unevenness on the outer periphery of the particle image, the smaller the circularity becomes. After calculating the circularity of each particle, the range of circularity from 0.200 to 1.000 is divided into 800 parts, the arithmetic mean value of the obtained circularity is calculated, and this value is taken as the average circularity.
具体的な測定方法は、以下のとおりである。まず、ガラス製の容器中にあらかじめ不純固形物などを除去したイオン交換水20mLを入れる。この中に分散剤として「コンタミノンN」(非イオン界面活性剤、陰イオン界面活性剤、有機ビルダーからなるpH7の精密測定器洗浄用中性洗剤の10質量%水溶液、和光純薬工業(株)製)をイオン交換水で3質量倍に希釈した希釈液を0.2mL加える。 The specific measurement method is as follows. First, 20 mL of ion-exchanged water from which impure solid matter has been removed is placed in a glass container. This contains "Contaminon N" as a dispersant (a 10% by mass aqueous solution of a pH 7 neutral detergent for cleaning precision measuring instruments consisting of a nonionic surfactant, an anionic surfactant, and an organic builder, Wako Pure Chemical Industries, Ltd. Add 0.2 mL of a diluted solution prepared by diluting (manufactured by )) with ion-exchanged water to 3 times the mass.
さらに測定試料を0.02g加え、超音波分散器を用いて2分間分散処理を行い、測定用の分散液とする。その際、分散液の温度が10℃以上40℃以下となる様に適宜冷却する。超音波分散器としては、発振周波数50kHz、電気的出力150Wの卓上型の超音波洗浄器分散器(例えば「VS-150」((株)ヴェルヴォクリーア製))を用いる。水槽内には所定量のイオン交換水を入れ、この水槽中に前記コンタミノンNを2mL添加する。 Furthermore, 0.02 g of the measurement sample is added, and a dispersion process is performed for 2 minutes using an ultrasonic disperser to obtain a dispersion liquid for measurement. At that time, the temperature of the dispersion liquid is appropriately cooled to a temperature of 10° C. or higher and 40° C. or lower. As the ultrasonic disperser, a table-top ultrasonic cleaner disperser (for example, "VS-150" (manufactured by Vervo Crea Co., Ltd.)) with an oscillation frequency of 50 kHz and an electrical output of 150 W is used. A predetermined amount of ion-exchanged water is placed in the water tank, and 2 mL of the contaminon N is added to the water tank.
For the measurement, the aforementioned flow type particle image analyzer equipped with a standard objective lens (10x magnification) is used, and a particle sheath "PSE-900A" (manufactured by Sysmex Corporation) is used as the sheath liquid. The dispersion prepared according to the above procedure is introduced into the flow type particle image analyzer, and 3000 toner particles are measured in HPF measurement mode and total count mode. Then, the binarization threshold at the time of particle analysis is set to 85%, the analyzed particle diameter is limited to an equivalent circle diameter of 1.985 μm or more and less than 39.69 μm, and the average circularity of the toner particles is determined.
測定にあたっては、測定開始前に標準ラテックス粒子を用いて自動焦点調整を行う。例えば、Duke Scientific社製の「RESEARCH AND TEST PARTICLES Latex Microsphere Suspensions 5200A」をイオン交換水で希釈して用いる。その後、測定開始から2時間毎に焦点調整を実施することが好ましい。 Before starting the measurement, automatic focus adjustment is performed using standard latex particles. For example, "RESEARCH AND TEST PARTICLES Latex Microsphere Suspensions 5200A" manufactured by Duke Scientific is used after being diluted with ion exchange water. Thereafter, it is preferable to perform focus adjustment every two hours from the start of the measurement.
なお、本願実施例では、シスメックス(株)による校正作業が行われた、シスメックス(株)が発行する校正証明書の発行を受けたフロー式粒子像分析装置を使用する。解析粒子径を円相当径1.985μm以上39.69μm未満に限定した以外は、校正証明を受けた時の測定および解析条件で測定を行う。 In the embodiment of the present application, a flow type particle image analyzer that has been calibrated by Sysmex Corporation and has a calibration certificate issued by Sysmex Corporation is used. The measurement is carried out under the measurement and analysis conditions under which the calibration certificate was received, except that the particle diameter for analysis was limited to a circle equivalent diameter of 1.985 μm or more and less than 39.69 μm.

[Evaluation (2): Charging roller contamination evaluation (durability evaluation)]
In an environment of 30° C./80% RH, the staining property of the charging roller (“roller-shaped charging member”) was evaluated when 24,000 sheets were output in the above-mentioned durable development evaluation. Measure the charging AC current value of the charging roller by applying a constant AC voltage before and after durability (if the charging roller is contaminated, the resistance will increase and the charging current will decrease), and the amount of decrease in current is considered as contamination and is determined as follows. It was evaluated based on the criteria.
Amount of current decrease (mA) = (Initial current value) - (Current value after durability)
(評価基準)
A:電流の低下量が0.10mA未満
B:電流の低下量が0.10mA以上0.30mA未満
C:電流の低下量が0.30mA以上0.50mA未満
D:電流の低下量が0.50mA以上(実用不可レベル)
(Evaluation criteria)
A: The amount of decrease in current is less than 0.10 mA B: The amount of decrease in current is 0.10 mA or more and less than 0.30 mA C: The amount of decrease in current is 0.30 mA or more and less than 0.50 mA D: The amount of decrease in current is 0.10 mA or more and less than 0.50 mA. 50mA or more (unpractical level)
評価結果を表4に示す。 The evaluation results are shown in Table 4.
[評価(3):カブリ]
15℃/10%RHの環境下、初期および24000枚出力時のカブリ濃度を、非画像部の反射率(%)を「REFLECTOMETER MODEL TC-6DS」(東京電色社製)で測定した。得られた反射率を、同様にして測定した未使用のプリントアウト用紙(標準紙)の反射率(%)から差し引いた数値(%)を用いて評価した。数値が小さい程、画像カブリが抑制されていることになる。
[Evaluation (3): Fog]
In an environment of 15° C./10% RH, the fog density at the initial stage and after 24,000 sheets were output, and the reflectance (%) of the non-image area were measured using “REFLECTOMETER MODEL TC-6DS” (manufactured by Tokyo Denshoku Co., Ltd.). The obtained reflectance was evaluated using the numerical value (%) subtracted from the reflectance (%) of unused printout paper (standard paper) measured in the same manner. The smaller the value, the more suppressed image fogging is.
(評価基準)
A:1.0%未満
B:1.0%以上2.0%未満
C:2.0%以上5.0%未満
D:5.0%以上(実用上許容し難い水準)
(Evaluation criteria)
A: Less than 1.0% B: 1.0% or more and less than 2.0% C: 2.0% or more and less than 5.0% D: 5.0% or more (practically unacceptable level)
