Description
The present invention relates to techniques for an X-ray measurement device, an X-ray measurement system, and an X-ray measurement method.
Methods for measuring radioactivity include methods described in
Here, the techniques described in
The technique described in
The technique described in
The present invention was made in view of this background, and an object of the present invention is to improve the accuracy of radiation measurement.
In order to solve the above-described problems, the present invention provides a detection section extending at least in the direction of the incident axis of X-rays, a first region that is a pile-up region, and a first region in the detection section that extends in the direction of the incident axis of X-rays; an X-ray photon number counting unit that counts the number of X-ray photons in the second region, and a second region that is a region of , an X-ray photon number estimation unit that estimates the number of X-ray photons in the first region; the number of X-ray photons detected in the second region; and the estimated number of X-ray photons in the first region; and a total X-ray photon number calculation unit that totals the total number of X-ray photons.
Other solutions will be described as appropriate in the embodiments.
According to the present invention, the accuracy of radiation measurement can be improved.
Next, modes for carrying out the present invention (referred to as "embodiments") will be described in detail with reference to the drawings as appropriate. Furthermore, in this embodiment, radiation includes X-rays R1 (see FIG. 1) and γ-rays R2 (see FIG. 1).

(Channel configuration)
FIG. 4 is a diagram showing the overall configuration of the
Note that in FIG. 4, the vertical direction (z-axis direction) is opposite to that in FIG. 3. As described above, in one channel, a plurality of radiation detection elements 304 are arranged in one row in the axial direction (x-axis direction) of the radiation incident direction D. That is, in one channel, the radiation detection element (detection section) 304 extends at least in the direction of the X-ray incident axis.
In this way, one channel has a multistage structure in which a plurality of radiation detection elements 304 of the same size are arranged in a direction parallel to the radiation incident direction D. Note that the number of radiation detection elements 304 does not matter. Further, the scintillator element 301 may be made of any material such as NaI, CsI, CeBr3, etc. Furthermore, as the scintillator element 301, semiconductors such as CZT, CdTe, and Ge can also be used as long as they have a positional resolution equivalent to that of NaI, CsI, and CeBr3. Furthermore, if neutrons can be generated from the sample, a phoswitch detection method that uses a neutron detection scintillator or the like can be employed. With such a configuration, it becomes possible to separate neutrons and other radiation. It is assumed that the

FIG. 7 is a flowchart showing the procedure of the X-ray measurement process performed by the X-ray measurement system Z.

Then, the
Next, the pile-up
Here, the processing in steps S3 and S4 will be explained in detail with reference to FIGS. 5 to 6B.
First, the
If the rising time Δt of the output signal from the
That is, if Δt shown in the waveform 512a of FIG. 6B is less than or equal to a predetermined time, the
Note that if the lowest threshold value 511a is set to a level greater than the γ-ray R2 or noise, the process of step S3 can be omitted.
When Δt (see FIG. 6B) satisfies the condition within a certain period of time (Δt min <Δt<Δt max ), the pile-up
In addition, from the relationship between the energy corresponding to the maximum threshold of the
Subsequently, the pile-up
Furthermore, the pile-up
The pile-up
The pile-up
The pile-up
Here, among the radiation detection elements 304 in which a pile-up event has occurred in the channel, the position of the radiation detection element 304 that is farthest from the incident side of the X-ray R1 is defined as the X-ray R1 pile-up detection position. Furthermore, among the radiation detection elements 304 that are not piled up, the position of the radiation detection element 304 closest to the incident side of the X-ray R1 is defined as a non-pileup detection position. In this way, the pile-up position detection in step S4 in FIG. 7 is performed. The range of the radiation detection element 304 where pile-up occurs is defined as a pile-up region 341 (see FIG. 3). Furthermore, the range of the radiation detection element 304 in which no pile-up occurs is defined as a non-pile-up region 342 (see FIG. 3).
Generally, the closer the radiation detection element 304 is to the incident side of the X-rays R1, the more X-rays R1 are incident thereon. As a result, the radiation detection element 304 closer to the incident side of the X-ray R1 has a higher probability of pile-up. Furthermore, the farther the radiation detection element 304 is from the incident side of the X-ray R1, the lower the probability of pile-up. The pile-up detection position changes depending on the irradiation intensity of X-ray R1, the distance between the X-ray source (radioactive waste) and the

Next, the X-ray photon
Then, the X-ray photon
I1(Ek)=ΣI2(n,Ek)+ΣI1(n,Ek)
=ΣI2(0,Ek)(1-exp(-μ1(Ek)Δt))*(exp(-μ1(Ek)t)+ΣI1(n,Ek)
(1)
I1 (Ek) = ΣI2 (n, Ek) + ΣI1 (n, Ek)
=ΣI2(0,Ek)(1-exp(-μ1(Ek)Δt))*(exp(-μ1(Ek)t)+ΣI1(n,Ek)
(1)
Here, I2 is the estimated number of X-ray photons in the pile-up region, and I1 is the number of X-ray photons in the non-pile-up region. Note that in the first and second lines of equation (1), the first term is the sum of the number of X-ray photons in the pile-up region 341 (0<n<n pile ), and the second term is the sum of the number of X-ray photons in the non-pile-up region 342 (n pile It shows the sum of the number of X-ray photons at <n<n max ). Here, n pile is the radiation detection element number at the pile-up position.
Furthermore, n is a radiation detection element number. Since the materials of the scintillator element 301 and the
Then, the X-ray photon
Here, details of the processing in steps S11 to S13 will be explained with reference to FIG.
FIG. 8 shows the processing results of steps S11 to S13 displayed on the
Here, the processing screen 600 shown in FIG. 8 has a channel designation window 601, an energy designation window 602, and a photon number display area 610. In the energy specification window 602, the energy (maximum detection threshold) for which the number of X-ray photons is to be calculated is specified. For example, in the example of FIG. 8, an event having a maximum detection threshold corresponding to energy "100" is specified as a processing target.
The photon number display area 610 displays a graph having the X-ray photon detection position on the horizontal axis and the X-ray photon count rate (cps) on the vertical axis. The X-ray photon position corresponds to the number (element number) of the radiation detection element 304 that detected the X-ray. In this graph, the distribution of the number of detected X-ray photons by energy acquired in step S11 is plotted (numeral 611). That is, the distribution of the number of X-ray photon detections by energy acquired in step S11 corresponds to the plot indicated by reference numeral 611.
Then, the X-ray photon
Here, a solid line 612 indicates a fitting curve in the non-pileup region 342. Further, a broken line 613 indicates a fitting curve in the pile-up region 341. Thereby, the number of detected X-ray photons (in the example of FIG. 8, the counting rate) in the pile-up region 341 can be estimated. Calculation of the fitting curve shown by the solid line 612 and the broken line 613 corresponds to step S12 (estimation of the number of detected X-ray photons).
Then, the X-ray photon
In the example of FIG. 8, the vertical axis is the count rate, but it may also be the count per measurement.

(Image reconstruction processing)
Here, image reconstruction processing will be explained.
When performing image reconstruction, the
μ(Ek) = ln(I0(Ek)/ I(Ek))・・・(4) μ(Ek) = ln(I 0 (Ek)/I(Ek))...(4)
At this time, since the substance of each pixel in the reconstructed image is unknown, the linear attenuation coefficient is unknown. Note that an appropriate image filter is applied to the reconstructed image. Thereby, linear attenuation coefficients for each energy can be obtained for the measurement target.
The linear attenuation coefficient depends on the energy of the irradiated X-ray R1, the density of the substance, and the atomic number. Therefore, in conventional X-ray CT, a linear attenuation coefficient integrated up to the maximum energy of the irradiated X-ray R1 is obtained, but in this embodiment, a linear attenuation coefficient for each energy is obtained.

Here, the radiation absorption coefficient Rij is calculated by the following equation (12).
Rij=1-exp(-ΣΣμ(Ek)xL) ・・・ (12) Rij=1-exp(-ΣΣμ(Ek)xL)... (12)
Here, ΣΣ is the sum of the energy Ek and the path length xL that the γ-ray R2 passes. In this embodiment, it is possible to obtain the sum ΣRij of the radiation absorption coefficients Rij for each energy in a short time. This allows radioactivity to be determined with high accuracy. Although this embodiment can be applied regardless of the energy of the generated X-ray R1, for example, there is a possibility that various types of Co-60, Cs-137, etc. may enter the

FIG. 10 is a diagram showing the configuration of an X-ray measurement system Za in the second embodiment. Further, FIG. 11 is a diagram showing the configuration of the data processing device 115a in the second embodiment.
In FIGS. 10 and 11, the same components as those in FIGS. 1 and 2A are denoted by the same reference numerals, and the description thereof will be omitted. Furthermore, since the hardware configuration of the data processing device 150a is the same as that shown in FIG. 3, illustration and description thereof will be omitted here.
10 and 11 differ from FIGS. 1 and 2A in the following points.
(A1) As shown in FIG. 10, instead of the

<Flowchart>
FIG. 12 is a flowchart showing the procedure of X-ray measurement processing in the second embodiment.
In FIG. 12, the same steps as those in FIG. 7 are given the same step numbers, and the description thereof will be omitted.
The flowchart shown in FIG. 12 differs from the flowchart shown in FIG. 7 in the following points.
(B1) Step S3 of removing the γ-ray R2 and the noise level event in FIG. 7 is omitted.
(B2) Step S24 of converting the radiation absorption coefficient and Step S25 of converting the radioactivity from the radiation absorption coefficient constitute a substance identification process (S31) for identifying the substance of the non-destructive inspection measurement target.
The other processing is the same as that in FIG.
In the substance identification process in step S31, the linear attenuation coefficient μ(Ek) for each energy determined by equation (1) has a value that differs for each substance more than the linear attenuation coefficient for the total energy. Therefore, the second embodiment not only simply improves material identification compared to previous techniques, but also obtains the linear attenuation coefficient for each interaction of X-ray R1 by inverse analysis, which improves the The accuracy can be improved.
[Third embodiment]
Next, the configuration of the
In FIGS. 13 and 14, as in FIGS. 3 and 4, it is assumed that the X-ray R1 is incident from the left side of the page.
First, similar to FIGS. 3 and 4, the vertical direction (z-axis direction) in FIGS. 13 and 14 is opposite to each other.
The
According to the third embodiment, energy loss between scintillator elements 301 can be reduced.
[Fourth embodiment]
FIG. 15 is a diagram showing the configuration of a
The
X-rays R1 incident from the radiation incident direction D react with the
According to the
As shown in FIGS. 3, 4, and 13 to 15, if the structure is such that the position (coordinates) where an X-ray photon is detected within one channel can be specified, ~A structure other than the structure shown in FIG. 15 may be used.
Furthermore, by expanding the
Further, this structure can also be used by rotating it by 90 degrees with respect to the X-ray irradiation direction, or by rotating it by 90 degrees and arranging a plurality of them in a direction parallel to the X-ray irradiation direction.
Further, the analog-to-digital converter in the
