Description
図1に示す液体吐出装置11は、用紙等の媒体にインク等の液体を吐出することによって、文字、写真等の画像を印刷するインクジェット式のプリンターである。液体吐出装置11は、筐体12と、筐体12を支持する基台13とを備える。筐体12は、開閉可能なカバー(図示略)を含む液体吐出装置11の外装である。なお、図1等では、液体吐出装置11が水平面上に置かれているものとして、互いに直交する3つの仮想軸を、X軸、Y軸及びZ軸とする。X軸は後述する吐出部28の走査方向と平行な仮想軸であり、Y軸は印刷領域における媒体99の搬送方向と平行な仮想軸である。また、Z軸は鉛直方向と平行な仮想軸である。
(1)湿度検出部53が下限値A(第一所定値の一例)未満の湿度を検出した場合に、搬送部14による搬送中または吐出部28による吐出中に、加湿器54又は加湿モードの乾燥装置40(加湿部の一例)によって筐体12の内部を加湿する。よって、筐体12内が加湿されることで、湿度が下限値A未満と低い場合に浮遊し易い埃や毛羽等の異物による吐出部28のノズル当たりを抑制することができる。したがって、湿度が好適な範囲から低い側に外れても、生産物である印刷物を不良にする不良原因である吐出部28のノズル詰まりの発生を抑制できる。特許文献1では、ノズル詰まりの発生のし易さを低めるものではなく、吐出保全動作の実施頻度を高めることでノズル詰まりを予防する。このため、無駄なインクの消費が増えるうえ吐出保全動作が増えることで生産性が低下する。これに対して、本実施形態では、吐出保全動作の実施頻度が高まる訳ではないので、インクの消費がほとんど増えることなく、生産性も低下しない。
・湿度検出部53が上限値Bを超える絶対湿度AHを検出した場合、制御部70は、ギャップ調整機構29を制御し、吐出部28と支持面22Aとのギャップを大きく変更してもよい。制御部70は、ギャップ調整機構29を制御し、絶対湿度AHが印刷環境好適領域HAにある通常時よりもギャップを大きな値に変更する。例えば、指定の印刷解像度が高精細印刷時の第1解像度よりも低い通常印刷時の第2解像度であれば、ギャップをデフォルトの第1ギャップよりも大きな第2ギャップに変更する。これにより、仮に媒体99に皺99Sが発生しても、大きなギャップにより皺99Sが吐出部28のノズル開口面28Bに接触することを防止し、擦れによるインク汚れ等の印刷不良を防止できる。なお、高精細印刷時は、印刷精度の観点から、ギャップを大きく変更することはしない方が好ましい。
・媒体99は、用紙に限定されず、合成樹脂製のフィルムやシート、布、不織布、ラミネートシートなどでもよい。
以下、前記実施形態及び変更例から把握される技術思想を効果と共に記載する。
Claims (4)
- 媒体を搬送する搬送部と、
前記媒体に液体を吐出する吐出部と、
前記吐出部を内部に有する筐体と、
前記筐体の内部を加湿する加湿部と、
湿度を検出する湿度検出部と、
を備え、
前記湿度検出部が第一所定値未満の湿度を検出した場合に、前記搬送部による搬送中または前記吐出部による吐出中に、前記加湿部によって前記筐体の内部を加湿し、
前記湿度検出部が前記第一所定値未満の湿度を検出してから前記吐出部および前記搬送部が実行するジョブが完了するまでに、前記搬送部が搬送する前記媒体の搬送量が第二所定値以上である場合は、前記加湿部によって前記筐体の内部を加湿し、前記搬送量が前記第二所定値未満である場合は、加湿しないことを特徴とする液体吐出装置。 - 前記湿度検出部が前記第一所定値未満の湿度を検出してから前記ジョブが完了するまでに、前記搬送部が搬送する前記媒体の搬送量が前記第二所定値未満である場合は、前記吐出部の吐出保全動作を行う時期を、前記ジョブの開始前又は終了後に変更することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液体吐出装置。
- 前記湿度検出部が前記第一所定値未満の湿度を検出したとき、前記媒体に前記吐出部が吐出する液体の単位面積当たりの液体量が第三所定値未満である場合は、前記加湿部によって前記筐体の内部を加湿し、前記単位面積当たりの液体量が前記第三所定値以上である場合は、加湿しないことを特徴とする請求項1または請求項2に記載の液体吐出装置。
- 媒体を搬送する搬送部と、前記媒体に液体を吐出する吐出部と、前記吐出部を内部に有する筐体と、前記筐体の内部を加湿する加湿部と、湿度を検出する湿度検出部と、を備えた液体吐出装置の制御方法であって、
湿度を検出する湿度検出ステップと、
前記湿度検出部が第一所定値未満の湿度を検出した場合に、前記搬送部による搬送中または前記吐出部による吐出中に、前記加湿部によって前記筐体の内部を加湿する加湿ステップと、
前記湿度検出部が前記第一所定値未満の湿度を検出してから前記吐出部および前記搬送部が実行するジョブが完了するまでに、前記搬送部が搬送する前記媒体の搬送量が第二所定値以上である場合は、前記加湿部によって前記筐体の内部を加湿し、前記搬送量が前記第二所定値未満である場合は、加湿しない湿度調整ステップと、
を備えることを特徴とする液体吐出装置の制御方法。
