Description
The present disclosure, which is the invention disclosed in the present specification, relates to a secondary battery.
Conventionally, as a secondary battery of this type, a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate have an internal electrode body wound or laminated via a separator, and the total cross-sectional area of the current collecting tab is set to a certain area or more during charging and discharging. Those that do not melt have been proposed (see, for example, Patent Document 1). In this secondary battery, it is said that safety will be improved by configuring a current collecting tab so that it will blow off against the hair current and using it as a current fuse. Further, as a secondary battery, a battery in which a thermal fuse that cuts off electrical conduction below the softening temperature of the separator is connected to a cylindrical internal space at the center of the wound electrode plate group has been proposed ( For example, see Patent Document 2). It is said that this secondary battery can provide a safety mechanism that does not cause deterioration of battery performance and does not take up space.
By the way, in recent years, secondary batteries are required to have higher safety, higher capacity, and higher energy density per unit volume. For example, in order to increase the battery capacity of a secondary battery in which electrodes are laminated, it is necessary to increase the thickness of the active material layer, but if the electrodes are made thicker in this way, the thickness direction of the electrolytic solution The flow path of the battery becomes longer, and it becomes difficult to relax the concentration gradient of ions in the thickness direction. In the secondary batteries of Patent Documents 1 and 2 described above, safety is taken into consideration, but increasing the energy density has not been sufficiently studied, and the energy density can be increased and the safety can be further enhanced. There was a need for a new secondary battery.
The present disclosure has been made in view of such a problem, and an object of the present disclosure is to provide a novel secondary battery capable of increasing the energy density and the safety.
As a result of diligent research to achieve the above-mentioned object, the present inventors have made a structure in which a plurality of electrodes formed in columns are bundled and connected to a current collector, and the connecting portion is used for a fuse mechanism. As a result, they have found that the energy density can be increased and the safety can be further enhanced, and the invention disclosed in the present specification has been completed.

The present disclosure can provide a secondary battery having higher energy density and higher safety. Further, by using the connection portion that electrically connects the electrode of this bound structure to the current collector portion for the fuse mechanism, the safety can be further enhanced.

As shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the

In the

(Second Embodiment)
Next, the
The
The
The
The

It goes without saying that the present disclosure is not limited to the above-described embodiment, and can be implemented in various embodiments as long as it belongs to the technical scope of the present disclosure.

In the above-mentioned
Hereinafter, an example in which the above-mentioned secondary battery is specifically manufactured will be described as an example.

FIG. 11 shows the length of one side of the electrode in the
FIG. 12 is a relationship diagram obtained by calculation of the volume fraction of the positive and negative electrode mixture in the bundled structure of the columnar body and the laminated structure of the electrode foil, the area facing the positive and negative electrodes, and the distance between the positive and negative electrodes at 80% by volume of the electrodes. .. Examples 2 to 4 were calculated using the lengths of the sides of the positive electrode and the negative electrode shown in FIG. 12, the thickness of the separation film, the diameter of the collecting wire, and the like. In addition, Comparative Example 1 was a conventional electrode having a laminated structure, and Comparative Example 2 was modeled on a high-energy type electrode in which the electrode mixture of the conventional electrode was thickened. As shown in the table of FIG. 12, in Examples 2 to 4, the volume fraction of the positive and negative electrode mixture in the electrodes exceeded 85%, which was almost the same as 88.4% of the thickened Comparative Example 2 (energy). The value of (high density) was shown. Further, in Examples 2 to 4, the facing area of the positive and negative electrodes exceeded 47.3 cm 2 of Comparative Example 2, and it was found to be advantageous for high output and quick charging. Further, in Examples 2 to 4, it was found that the distance between the positive electrode and the negative electrode of the active material accounting for 80% by volume was 120 μm or less (the moving distance of ions was shorter), which was advantageous for quick charging. It was found that these effects became even greater when one side of the columnar electrode was reduced to about 100 μm. Further, in Examples 2 to 4, it was presumed that when an internal short circuit occurred, the current was concentrated on the current collecting portion of the short-circuited electrode and the fuse function could be exhibited by fusing. While ensuring the safety of the battery, the internal short circuit cannot be controlled from the outside, so the fuse mechanism inside the battery is an extremely effective safety measure. By the way, overcharging can be suppressed from the outside of the battery.

As described above, the electrode structure of the embodiment uses the positive electrode active material, the negative electrode active material, and the organic electrolytic solution used for the Li battery, and the energy density is 600 Wh / L (electrode combination) suitable for EV vehicles. It is possible to achieve high output, quick chargeability, and high safety while improving the body integration rate of the material to about 88%).
