Description
The present invention relates to an LED lighting circuit and an LED lighting device using the same.
In the LED lighting device of
However, since the above configuration requires two control power supply outputs, the configuration of the control power supply generation circuit becomes complicated. On the other hand, in the configuration using one control power output, the relative start timing of the drive circuit of the boost converter and the drive circuit of the step-down converter is not determined when the power is turned on to the LED lighting circuit. Therefore, as will be described in detail later, a malfunction of the drive unit of the step-down converter may be induced depending on the starting order or even if the starting order is determined, depending on the mutual timing. Therefore, it is desired to realize an appropriate start-up operation in each drive unit while simplifying the circuit configuration by using one control power output system.
Therefore, an object of the present invention is to realize an appropriate start-up operation with a simple configuration in an LED lighting circuit having a boost converter and a step-down converter and an LED lighting device using the same.
The LED lighting circuit of the present invention detects a boost converter that boosts the input power supply voltage, a buck converter that generates a DC current from the boost output voltage of the boost converter and supplies it to the LED, and a current detection by detecting the switching current of the buck converter. It has a current detection circuit that generates a value, a first terminal and a second terminal, determines the peak protection threshold corresponding to the terminal input voltage of the second terminal, and the current input to the first terminal. A step-down drive unit that controls the PWM drive of the step-down converter based on the detected value and stops the PWM drive when the current detection value reaches the peak protection threshold, and a variable terminal input voltage can be applied to the second terminal. Control to control the peak threshold setting circuit and the peak threshold setting circuit so that the terminal input voltage is lowered from the initial value for start-up to the normal value for steady operation after a predetermined period of time has elapsed since the step-down drive unit started operation. It has a part.
According to the above configuration, the peak threshold setting circuit generates a variable terminal input voltage for the step-down drive unit that stops the PWM drive of the step-down converter when the current detection value reaches the peak protection threshold corresponding to the terminal input voltage. It is configured so that the terminal input voltage drops from the initial value for start-up to the normal value for steady operation after a period of time after the start of operation of the step-down drive unit. In this way, in the LED lighting circuit having the boost converter and the step-down converter, the threshold value for protection is temporarily raised at the time of starting, so that the protection function in the steady state is ensured and the protection operation malfunctions due to the starting. Can be prevented, and proper startup operation is realized with a simple configuration.
Here, the peak threshold setting circuit includes a switching circuit that generates an oscillation voltage by switching the voltage from the constant voltage source with a transistor, and an integration circuit that integrates the oscillation voltage, and the control unit is connected to the input terminal of the transistor. It is configured to output a control signal to control the integrated value of the oscillation signal. As a result, by controlling the on-duty of the oscillation voltage, the peak threshold setting circuit can be adapted to the step-down drive unit with different specifications without changing the hardware such as the circuit constant. Increases versatility.
Further, the switching circuit may be a series circuit of a resistor and a transistor connected to a constant voltage source, and the control signal may be a PWM signal. As a result, when the control unit has a configuration in which the PWM signal can be output, a peak threshold value setting circuit having a simple configuration is realized. Then, since the peak protection threshold value and the like can be appropriately set by adjusting the on-duty of the PWM signal, a highly versatile circuit is realized.
In the first embodiment, a boost drive unit for driving the boost converter is provided, and the control unit is configured to activate the boost drive unit before the step-down drive unit. As a result, the step-down converter driven by the step-down drive unit is ensured to start smoothly, and the effect of preventing malfunction of the protection operation related to the current detection value can be obtained more reliably.
In the second embodiment, a voltage detection circuit that detects the boost output voltage and generates a voltage detection value is provided, and the control unit activates the step-down drive unit when the voltage detection value reaches the set value. Will be done. As a result, even when the boost drive unit does not have the operation / stop function, it is possible to optimize the start timing of the step-down drive unit with respect to the operation of the boost drive unit. Further, since the start timing of the step-down converter is determined based on the timing when the step-up output voltage reaches the set value, the period from the start-up of the step-up converter to the start-up of the step-down converter should be minimized to speed up the LED lighting start. Can be done.
The LED lighting device of the present invention includes any of the above LED lighting circuits and an LED. As a result, inconveniences due to malfunction of the protection operation at the start of lighting of the LED are avoided, and the reliability of the operation is improved.

FIG. 2 shows a part of the internal circuit of the step-down drive unit 60 (particularly, a part related to terminals P13, P15 and P16). The step-down
The operation of the step-down
On the other hand, in a situation where the switching current rises sharply with a time constant shorter than the response time of the above operation, when the current detection value reaches the peak protection threshold value Vpt, or the number of consecutive times the current detection value reaches the peak protection threshold value Vphth. When the number of times reaches a predetermined number of times, the
Here, if the peak protection threshold value Vphth is lower than the appropriate value, an unnecessary overcurrent protection operation may be induced when the step-down
The peak
In this embodiment, a bipolar transistor is used as the
A PWM signal Sp is input from the
The
When the
Further, the
FIG. 3 shows the operation of the
At time t1, the
At time t3, the
At time t4, the
As described above, the
In this way, the peak
Further, in the present embodiment, the peak
Further, in the present embodiment, the
<Second embodiment>
In the first embodiment, the
FIG. 4 shows the
In the present embodiment, the voltage detection value detected by the
FIG. 5 shows the operation of the
At time t1, the
At time t5, the operation of the
また、本実施形態の期間T2(=時刻t6−時刻t5)は、第1の実施形態の期間T2(=時刻t3−時刻t2)と同じであればよい。
At time t6, the
As described above, in the
<変形例>
<Modification example>
Although the preferred embodiments of the present invention have been shown above, the present invention can be transformed into various aspects as shown below, for example.
(1) Modification of Peak
Further, when the
Further, the terminal input voltage Vin may be lowered by a predetermined time constant after the transition of the enable signal En2 to the high level. As shown in FIG. 6B, an RC timer circuit including a
(2) Modification of Control IC of
