Description
図1は内燃機関の排気浄化装置1(以下、排気浄化装置1と称す)の概略構成図である。排気浄化装置1は排気通路に設けられ、燃焼室からの排ガスを浄化する。排気浄化装置1は外筒2と、下流側触媒3と、電気加熱式触媒4と、第1のマット5と、第2のマット6とを備えている。外筒2は絶縁性を有している。外筒2は導電性の排気管8に接続されている。本実施形態に係る排気浄化装置は、車両の駆動源として内燃機関と電動モータとを有するハイブリッドシステムを構成する内燃機関の排気通路に設けられる。ただし、本発明に係る排気浄化装置が適用される内燃機関は、必ずしもハイブリッドシステムを構成する内燃機関に限られるものではない。
本実施形態を説明するに当たり、第1実施形態と重複する箇所の説明は割愛する。図5は第2実施形態の下流側触媒3の断面図である。排気浄化装置1は下流側触媒3に凝縮水が浸水しないような角度に設置されている。つまり凝縮水は最大でも第1のマット5の厚み分までしか溜まらない。そこで、本実施例では水が溜まる領域以外、つまり下流側触媒3より下方の鉛直下方部以外に第1のマット5の合口部5aを設ける。
本実施形態を説明するに当たり、第1実施形態と重複する箇所の説明は割愛する。図6は第3実施形態の下流側触媒3の断面図である。本実施例では鉛直最上方部に第1のマット5の合口部5aを設ける。
電気式加熱触媒4を保持する第2のマット6の合口部は鉛直最下方部以外(例えば鉛直最下方部から20°離れた場所)に設ける。鉛直最下方部はもっとも凝縮水が溜まりやすいため、鉛直最下方部以外に合口部を設けることにより、第2のマット6の合口部を通り第1のマット5に凝縮水が流出することを抑制できる。結果第1のマット5に漏電経路が形成することを抑制できる。より好ましくは電気加熱触媒3より下方の鉛直下方部以外に第2のマット6の合口部を設ける。鉛直下方部以外に第2のマット6の合口部を設けることにより、より確実に第1のマット5に凝縮水が流出することを抑制できる。
第1のマット5の合口部5aと第2のマット6の合口部が直線状に並んで配置されると、排ガスが第1のマット5の合口部5aと第2のマット6の合口部を通過し、浄化されずに有害物質が排出される虞がある。そのため、第1のマット5の合口部5aと第2のマット6の合口部は直線状に並べず、所定角度(例えば20°)以上ずらして配置することが望ましい。

Claims (4)
- 内燃機関の排気通路に設けられて該排気を浄化する排気浄化装置であって、
該排気浄化装置は、
導電性の排気管に接続された絶縁性の外筒と、
前記外筒の内側に位置する電気加熱式触媒と、
前記電気加熱式触媒の下流側に配設され、前記外筒の内側に絶縁性の第1のマットを介して保持された下流側触媒と、を備え、
前記第1のマットの合口部は鉛直最下方部以外に設けられていることを特徴とする内燃機関の排気浄化装置。 - 前記第1のマットの合口部は前記下流側触媒より下方の鉛直下方部以外に設けられていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記第1のマットの合口部は鉛直最上方部に設けられていることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記電気加熱式触媒は前記排気通路内に第2のマットを介して保持され、前記第2のマットの合口部は鉛直最下方部以外に設けられていることを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
