読取対象の原稿に向けて光を照射するとともに、受光部により原稿で反射された反射光を受光する。受光部は、受光した光を電気信号へ変換して、主走査方向の1ライン分の画像データを取得する。

Claims (4)
- 読取対象の原稿が載置されるコンタクトガラスと、
前記コンタクトガラスを支持する箱形のフレームと、
主走査方向に延びた読取機構を有し、前記フレーム内の前記コンタクトガラスの原稿が載置される上面とは反対側の下面側において副走査方向に往復移動するキャリッジと、
幅方向が主走査方向に一致するように前記キャリッジの一側面に接続され、当該接続された箇所から先の部分がU字状に湾曲して前記キャリッジの下方へ回り込むものとして配設された、前記読取機構の電気信号を伝送するフレキシブルフラットケーブルと、
前記キャリッジよりも遅い速度で前記キャリッジに追従して副走査方向に往復移動しながら、前記キャリッジの移動に伴って移動する前記フレキシブルフラットケーブルのU字状の湾曲部をガイドして前記コンタクトガラスへの接触を回避させるケーブルガイドユニットと、
副走査方向の始端と終端との間を無端走行して前記キャリッジを副走査方向に往復運動させるタイミングベルトとを備え、
前記タイミングベルトの外周及び内周に異なる歯数の歯が配設されており、
前記ケーブルガイドユニットが、前記タイミングベルトの外周及び内周の歯に噛合して前記タイミングベルトの走行速度よりも遅い速度で前記ケーブルガイドユニットを副走査方向に移動させるギア機構を有する画像読取装置。 - 前記ケーブルガイドユニットが主走査方向に延びるスリットを有しており、
前記フレキシブルフラットケーブルのU字状の湾曲部が前記スリットに挿通されており、
前記ケーブルガイドユニットが前記キャリッジの移動速度の半分の速度で移動する請求項1に記載の画像読取装置。 - 前記ケーブルガイドユニットが前記フレキシブルフラットケーブルのU字状の湾曲部と前記コンタクトガラスとの間に介在する請求項1に記載の画像読取装置。
- 前記フレキシブルフラットケーブルは、前記キャリッジの一側面に一端部が接続され、当該一端部を起点として前記キャリッジから離れる方向に延びてU字状に湾曲して方向を反転させて前記キャリッジの下方へ回り込む状態で延び、更に、前記U字状に湾曲する位置とは前記キャリッジを挟んで反対側となる位置で折りたたまれた状態で更に方向を反転させて、他端部が、画像読み取り動作を制御する制御部に接続されている請求項1乃至請求項3のいずれかに記載の画像読取装置。
