Description

本発明はさらに、ジエン系エラストマーと式Iの化合物との反応生成物を含むゴム組成物、及び該ゴム組成物を含むトレッドを有する空気入りタイヤにも向けられる。
Xは、下限臨界溶液温度を示すことができる二価ポリマー基であり;
Rは、独立に、水素原子又は式(II):
nは1以上の整数である]
の化合物を含む加硫可能なゴム組成物を開示する。
一態様において、ゴム組成物は、式I:

の化合物を含む。
一態様において、ポリマーXは、N−イソプロピルアクリルアミド、N−シクロプロピルアクリルアミド、又はN,N−ジエチルアクリルアミドのポリマーである。
一態様において、下限臨界溶液温度を示すことができるポリマーXは、約0℃〜約100℃の範囲の下限臨界溶液温度を有する。
本明細書中で使用され、従来の慣例に従う用語“phr”は、“100重量部のゴム、又はエラストマーあたりの各材料の重量部”を意味する。
一態様において、式Iの化合物はn=1である。この態様において、式Iの化合物は、適切に開裂されてチオールラジカルを形成した場合、不飽和炭素炭素結合を有するジエン系エラストマーと反応して、LCST特性を備えたペンダント側鎖を有するグラフトコポリマーを形成する。その場合、式Iで定義されたQは、式VのQ’と同一となり、nはmと同一となる。
一態様において、式VIの連鎖停止ポリマーは、アミノリシスによって処理されて式VIIのチオール末端ポリマーを得る。
本明細書中で使用され、従来の慣例に従う用語“phr”は、“100重量部のゴム、又はエラストマーあたりの各材料の重量部”を意味する。
ゴムコンパウンドに使用できる一般的に用いられるケイ質顔料は、従来型の焼成(pyrogenic)及び沈降ケイ質顔料(シリカ)を含む。一態様においては沈降シリカが使用される。本発明で使用される従来型ケイ質顔料は、例えば、ケイ酸ナトリウムなどの可溶性ケイ酸塩の酸性化によって得られるような沈降シリカである。
従来型シリカは、電子顕微鏡による測定で例えば0.01〜0.05ミクロンの範囲の平均極限粒径を有すると予想できるが、シリカ粒子は、さらに小さい、又はおそらくは大きいサイズであってもよい。

本実施例では、二官能性RAFT連鎖移動剤付きのポリ−(N−イソプロピルアクリルアミド)、又はPNIPAMの製造を示す。
収率:61%

DMPを基にした二官能性CTAの製造
DMPを、スキームIに従って、N,N’−ジイソプロピルカルボジイミド(DIC)及び4−ピロリジノピリジンの存在下、ジクロロメタン中で1,3−プロパンジオールと反応させ、二官能性CTAを形成した。
電界脱離(FD)質量分析による分析で768.8にピークが示され、二官能性CTAの形成が確認された。
二官能性CTAを用いたPNIPAMの製造は、スキームIIに従って実施された。
本実施例では、スチレン−ブタジエンゴムとチオール末端官能化PNIPAMとの反応を示す。実施例1のビス−チオール−末端官能化PNIPAM(PNIPAM−CTAの開裂形)(0.5g)、2gのスチレン−ブタジエンゴム(内的に製造された)及びAIBN(0.05g)を乾燥THF中に溶解した。該溶液をアルゴン流により1.5時間脱ガスした。該反応混合物を65℃に予熱された油浴中に30時間置いた。その後、反応混合物の完全ゲル化が観察された。
本実施例では、PNIPAM官能化がスチレン−ブタジエンゴムの湿潤性に及ぼす効果を示す。ビス−チオール−末端官能化PNIPAMで官能化されたSBRの湿潤性は、官能化ポリマーで被覆されたガラスプレート上での水滴の接触角を測定することによって決定された。
実施例4.
二官能性PNIPAM−チオールを実施例1の手順に従って製造した。得られたPNIPAM−チオールの分子量はGPCにより7200g/molと決定された。
本実施例では、スチレン−ブタジエンゴムとPNIPAM−SHとの反応を示す。
実施例1の二官能性PNIPAM−チオール(PNIPAM−CTAの開裂形)(0.5g)、2gのスチレン−ブタジエンゴム(内的に製造された)及びAIBN(0.05g)を乾燥THF中に溶解した。該溶液をアルゴン流により1.5時間脱ガスした。該反応混合物を65℃に予熱された油浴中に30時間置いた。得られたゴム組成物は、逆さにしたバイアル(材料を含有している)の上面に接着し、THF中でゲルを形成していることが観察され、SBRとPNIPAM−チオールとの架橋が確認された。2滴の25%アンモニアを添加し、12時間静置したところ、ゲルは溶解し、エステル結合の加水分解が示された。
本実施例では、PNIPAM−SHとSBRの反応生成物を含むゴム組成物のレオロジー特性を示す。
図3及び4に示された挙動から、LCST挙動を示すコポリマーを使用することによって、タイヤ性能、転がり抵抗(燃費の指標)及びトレッド摩耗間における通常の妥協は、コンパウンドの様々な指標を切り離すことにより回避できることが示唆される。

Claims (8)
- ゴム組成物を含むトレッドを特徴とする空気入りタイヤであって、
前記ゴム組成物は、
ジエン系エラストマーと式I:
Xは、式:
Rは、独立に、水素原子又は式(II):
nは2以上の整数である]
の化合物との反応生成物を含み、
前記反応生成物において、少なくとも一つのRが式Iの化合物とジエン系エラストマーとの間の共有結合で置換されていることを特徴とする、
空気入りタイヤ。 - ジエン系エラストマーが、溶液重合スチレン−ブタジエンゴム、乳化重合スチレン−ブタジエンゴム、ポリブタジエン、天然ポリイソプレンゴム、及び合成ポリイソプレンゴムからなる群から選ばれることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の空気入りタイヤ。
- Xが、ポリ(N−イソプロピルアクリルアミド)、ポリ(N−シクロプロピルアクリルアミド)、及びポリ(N,N−ジエチルアクリルアミド)からなる群から選ばれるポリマーから誘導されることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の空気入りタイヤ。
- 下限臨界溶液温度を示すことができるポリマー基Xが、500〜20000g/gmolの範囲の重量平均分子量を有することを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の空気入りタイヤ。
- 下限臨界溶液温度を示すことができるポリマーが、0℃〜100℃の範囲の下限臨界溶液温度を有することを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の空気入りタイヤ。
- ゴム組成物が100重量部のジエン系エラストマーと0.5〜10phrの式Iの化合物との反応生成物を含んでなることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の空気入りタイヤ。
