Description
Embodiments described herein relate generally to an impregnated cathode assembly.
The output of microwave electron tubes such as klystrons and gyrotrons has reached the megawatt level, and the output has been increasing. For this reason, an impregnated-type cathode assembly has been used instead of an oxide cathode in order to cope with higher output.
The impregnated cathode assembly includes a cylindrical storage portion and a heater provided inside the storage portion.
One end of the heater extends outside the impregnated-type cathode assembly and is connected to a power supply device or the like.
The other end of the heater is joined to the storage portion.
Here, as the impregnated-type cathode assembly is further downsized, the diameter of the linear material of the heater becomes smaller. When the diameter dimension of the linear material of the heater is reduced, the bonding strength between the end portion of the heater and the storage portion may be reduced.
Therefore, development of a technique capable of improving the bonding strength at the end of the heater has been desired.
The problem to be solved by the present invention is to provide an impregnated-type cathode assembly capable of improving the bonding strength at the end of the heater.
The impregnated-type cathode assembly according to the embodiment includes a storage unit, a cathode base impregnated with an electron-emitting material, and provided at one end of the storage unit, and a reflection provided at the other end of the storage unit. A plate, a heater provided inside the storage unit, at least one end of which passes through the reflection plate and extends to the outside of the storage unit, and is provided on the reflection plate, and the one end of the heater And a joining portion that electrically joins the reflection plate and the one end of the heater.

In the following, as an example, an impregnated-type cathode assembly that can be used in an electron gun of a klystron is illustrated.

In addition, what was illustrated in FIG. 1, FIG. 2 is the case where it melt-joins using a resistance welding method.
