前記ハブは、軸線を中心に回転するべく取り付けられ、その内部に連続可変比変速システムが収容された、ほぼ円筒形の中空ハブ部材を備え、
前記連続可変比変速システムは、
フリーホイールを介してスプロケットホイールに接続され、前記軸線を中心に回転するべく取り付けられた入力部材と、
前記中空ハブ部材と共に回転するべく接続された出力部材と、
第1および第2の電動機/発電機と、を備え、
前記第1および第2の電動機/発電機のステータの電気接続部は、前記第1および第2の電動機/発電機の一方から他方への電力の伝達を制御するべく構成された制御装置に接続された、
自転車であって、
前記連続可変比変速システムは、
前記軸線を中心に前記入力部材と共に回転するべく取り付けられた共通キャリアによって担持されたそれぞれのプラネットシャフトを中心に回転するべく取り付けられた複数のプラネットギアに噛合するサンギアを含む単一の遊星歯車装置を備え、
前記複数のプラネットギアは、前記中空ハブ部材と共に回転するべく接続されたアニュラスギアに噛合し、前記アニュラスギアと前記サンギアとは、前記第1および第2の電動機/発電機のロータと共にそれぞれ回転するべく接続され、
前記ハブは、
前記共通キャリアから成る駆動部材と、前記中空ハブ部材と共に回転するべく接続された被駆動部材とを含むワンウェイクラッチを更に有し、
前記ワンウェイクラッチは、前記共通キャリアの回転速度が前記中空ハブ部材の回転速度より高速になるや否や、前記共通キャリアと共に回転するように前記中空ハブ部材を接続するべく構成される、
自転車。 - 前記駆動部材は、複数の凹部が形成されたほぼ円形の外周を有し、前記被駆動部材は環状の形状を有し、その外周は前記アニュラスギアに噛合し、その内周は前記駆動部材の前記外周を取り囲み、前記周方向に延在する複数の凹部を前記外周と共に画成し、各凹部はジャミングボールと前記ジャミングボールを一周方向に付勢するバネとを収容し、各凹部の半径方向寸法は、前記周方向とは反対側の端部にある前記対応付けられたジャミングボールの直径より大きく、前記もう一方の端部に向かって漸減して前記対応付けられたジャミングボールの直径より小さい値になる、請求項1に記載の自転車。
- 前記第1および第2の電動機/発電機は同軸であり、一方が他方の内側に収容される、請求項1又は2に記載の自転車。
- 充電式電池と前記第1および第2の電動機/発電機との間の電力の流れを制御するべく更に構成された前記制御装置に接続された前記充電式電池と組み合わされる、請求項1〜3の何れか1項に記載の自転車。
- 使用者が所望する速度より高速で自転車が移動しているときに、前記充電式電池を再充電するために、前記制御装置は、前記電動機/発電機の一方または両方を発電機として作動させ、発生した電力を前記充電式電池に向かわせるために前記電動機/発電機の一方または両方を制御するべく構成される、請求項4に記載の自転車。
