Description
The present invention relates to an image generation method, and more particularly, to an image generation method in a scanning Talbot apparatus suitable for photographing a joint portion.
Conventionally, there has been proposed a phase contrast method for obtaining contrast by changing the phase of X-rays. The phase contrast method has a small difference in X-ray absorption, and it can also image breast tissue, articular cartilage, and soft tissue around the joint, which are difficult to appear as an image by the absorption contrast method. Is expected.
As one of phase contrast imaging, a Talbot interferometer using the Talbot effect has been studied. The Talbot effect is a phenomenon in which, when coherent light is transmitted through a first grating (G1 grating) provided with slits at a constant period, the lattice image is connected at a constant period in the light traveling direction. Say. This lattice image is called a self-image, and the Talbot interferometer arranges a second grating (G2 grating) at a position connecting the self-images, and moiré fringes (moire) generated by slightly shifting the second grating. taking measurement. If an object is placed in front of the second grating, moire is disturbed, so if X-ray imaging is performed with a Talbot interferometer, an object is placed in front of the first grating and irradiated with coherent X-rays. It is possible to obtain a reconstructed image of the subject by calculating the obtained moire image.
There has also been proposed a Talbot-Lau interferometer in which an X-ray source grating (G0 grating, multi-slit) is installed between the X-ray source and the first grating. The Talbot-Lau interferometer can use an incoherent X-ray source with higher output by using an X-ray source grating, and increases the irradiation dose per unit time. To obtain a reconstructed image (contrast based on phase information, contrast based on small-angle scattering, contrast based on absorption) using a Talbot or Talbot-Lau interferometer, a method based on the principle of the fringe scanning method (the fringe scanning method) Several methods such as a Fourier transform method have been proposed, but the present invention relates to the phase shift of the fringe scanning method. In the conventional fringe scanning method, a plurality of moire images with different phases are photographed while moving the first grating or the second grating relative to other gratings at a fixed interval.
On the other hand, in
However, the X-ray source lattice (G0 lattice, multi-slit), the first lattice (G1 lattice), and the second lattice (G2 lattice) are deficient in a part of the lattice in the manufacturing process. Sometimes.
That is, an existing wafer manufacturing process capable of fine processing is used for manufacturing these lattices, but in some cases, a part of the lattice may accidentally fall down or drop out during this manufacturing process. Due to the development and improvement of the manufacturing method, the number of defects in the lattice generated in such a manufacturing process is decreasing, but the defects have not been completely eliminated, and these fine defects are caused by the manufacturing yield of the lattice ( In view of cost performance, it is desirable to allow. Further, in order to increase the field of view size, it is required to increase the area of the grating. Wafers used for manufacturing the grating generally have a diameter of about 50 mm to 300 mm, and the size of each grating is as follows. It is limited to a size that can be cut out from the wafer. For this reason, in order to enlarge the lattice to be larger than the wafer size, it is conceivable to combine a plurality of small lattices together. However, in this case, at the bonding position of the small lattice, a gap is generated between the small lattices, and this portion becomes a missing portion of the lattice from which the lattice structure is missing.
In the Talbot and Talbot-Lo device, when the Talbot effect and the information of the electromagnetic waves that have caused the Talbot-Lo effect are imaged and acquired (that is, the moire image is acquired), the missing part of the lattice is transmitted. The Talbot effect and Talbot-low effect cannot be sufficiently obtained for electromagnetic waves, and phase information and scattered information, in particular, of information possessed by electromagnetic waves deteriorate. For this reason, in the obtained moiré image, a pixel corresponding to a shadow of a missing portion of the lattice causes a signal value decrease or an image loss, and the image quality is significantly deteriorated. Therefore, when a reconstructed image of a subject is generated from such a moire image, artifacts due to lattice defects appear in the image, which may be unsuitable as a diagnostic image.
In order to avoid the influence of such a lattice defect,
However, in the method described in
The present invention has been made in view of the circumstances as described above, and corrects artifacts in a reconstructed image caused by the defect even when the lattice has a defect portion, thereby obtaining a high-quality image suitable for diagnosis. An object of the present invention is to provide an image generation method that can be obtained and to improve the manufacturing yield of the lattice.

According to the image generation method of the present invention, the number of times of photographing is changed (increased) with respect to the number of moire images (number of times of photographing) that is theoretically required for the reconstructed image, rather than processing the lattice itself. By correcting artifacts in the reconstructed image due to lattice defects, a high-quality image suitable for diagnosis can be obtained.
For this reason, it is possible to reduce the cost for manufacturing the lattice, and further to increase the allowable range of the missing portion of the lattice, thereby greatly improving the yield of the lattice manufacturing.
Hereinafter, an embodiment of an image generation method according to the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
As will be described later, in the image generation method according to the present embodiment, when a defect occurs in any of a plurality of lattices provided in the scanning talvo apparatus, The resulting artifact in the reconstructed image can be corrected to obtain a high-quality image suitable for diagnosis.

In the present embodiment, the light irradiation field confirmation unit
In this embodiment, since there is no light blocking member between the light irradiation field confirmation unit

From the viewpoints of workability and safety when handling a relatively heavy X-ray source grid unit, and ease of position adjustment, it is preferable to separate the former and latter functions.

The
The driving
In the case of a vertical stationary imaging apparatus such as the
Further, in the vicinity of the
In this regard, when the first grid 14 (G1 grid) and the second grid 15 (G2 grid) arranged at the lower part of the base 19 (frame) are moved as in the present embodiment, the position of the center of gravity is Since the displacement is low, the displacement of the base portion 19 (frame) is small even against disturbance, and errors other than the lattice movement direction (x direction in the present embodiment) are unlikely to occur, and the

The subject table 13 is used to place a patient's fingers and the like that are subjects at the time of photographing. Although the size of the subject table 13 is not particularly limited, as shown in FIG. 1, when the patient's finger or the like that is the subject at the time of imaging is placed within the X-ray irradiation range (in the imaging possible region), the elbow portion of the patient It is preferable that the arm rest portion is configured to have a length dimension so that the arm rest portion can be placed. By placing the finger to the elbow part on the subject table 13, the position and posture of the finger that is the subject of photographing can be stabilized, and body movement such as camera shake during photographing can be prevented.

The configuration of the subject table 13 is not limited to the example illustrated here. For example, the

制御部181は、CPU(Central Processing Unit)やRAM(Random Access Memory)等から構成され、記憶部185に記憶されているプログラムとの協働により、各種処理を実行する。

小角散乱画像は、モアレ縞のVisibilityを画像化したものであり、被写体によるX線散乱に応じてコントラストが付く(参照文献3:Distribution of unresolvable anisotropic microstructures revealed in visibility-contrast images using x-ray Talbot interferometry Wataru Yashiro et.al. PHYSICAL REVIEW B 84, 094106 (2011)参照。)。
As the reconstructed image, for example, three types of reconstructed images of the subject, that is, an absorption image, a differential phase image, and a small angle scattered image are generated.
The absorption image (X-ray absorption image) is an image of an average component of moire fringes, and has a contrast according to the amount of X-ray attenuation by the subject. The image has been used for diagnosis conventionally and is familiar to medical personnel such as doctors. Excellent depiction of bones where X-ray absorption contrast is likely.
The differential phase image is obtained by imaging phase information of moire fringes, and has a contrast according to the amount of inclination of the X-ray wavefront by the subject. It is superior to depict soft tissue than absorption images.
A small-angle scattered image is an image of the visibility of moire fringes, and contrast is added according to the X-ray scattering by the subject (Reference 3: Distribution of unresolvable anisotropic microstructures revealed in visibility-contrast images using x-ray Talbot interferometry. Wataru Yashiro et.al. PHYSICAL REVIEW B 84, 094106 (2011)). It is superior to the description of the fine structure than the absorption image.
The three types of reconstructed images can be generated by a known method, for example, as described in Reference Document 4 (International Publication No. 2012/029340).
First, an offset correction process, a gain correction process, a defective pixel correction process, an X-ray intensity fluctuation correction, and the like are performed on a moiré image with a subject and a moiré image without a subject. Next, three types of reconstructed images (absorption image, differential phase image, and small angle scattered image) with a subject are generated based on the corrected moire image with the subject. Further, three types of reconstructed images (absorption image, differential phase image, and small angle scattered image) without a subject are generated based on the corrected moire image without the subject.
Specifically, an absorption image is generated by adding moire fringes of a plurality of moire images. In addition, the phase of moire fringes is calculated using the principle of the fringe scanning method, and a differential phase image is generated. Further, the visibility of moire fringes is calculated using the principle of the fringe scanning method (Visibility = amplitude × average value), and a small-angle scattered image is generated.
Then, using the reconstructed image without the same kind of subject with respect to the generated reconstructed image with the subject (for example, using the small-angle scattered image without the subject with respect to the small-angle scattered image with the subject), the moire fringes Phase correction and correction processing for removing image unevenness are performed, and three types of reconstructed images for final diagnosis are generated.

Next, an image generation method according to this embodiment will be described.
When imaging is performed using the
Here, the principle of the main imaging by the

タルボ・ロー干渉計において、タルボ効果とロー効果によるモアレ縞を効果的に形成するためには、以下の(1)〜(3)の条件を保つ又は近い条件が必要である(参照文献5:W.Yashiro et al.,Efficiency of capturing a phase image using cone-beam x-ray Talbot interferometry.Opt.Soc.Am.,25,2025,2008.)

The inventor of the present application found out from the above relationship that the phase shift Φ of the moire fringes formed by the Talbot-Lau interferometer can be expressed by the following (Equation 5) and confirmed experimentally.
By using this (Formula 5), it is possible to calculate the phase shift amount Φ of moire fringes when a plurality of gratings are moved.
Therefore, the lattice movement amounts (relative movement amounts from the reference position before the start of imaging) m 0k , m 1k , and m 2k may be set so as to satisfy the following (Equation 7). m 0k is the amount of lattice movement of the
Considering the amount of movement of the lattice between photographings in a simplified manner, the relative amount of movement l 0 , l 1 , l 2 of each lattice during photographing may be set so as to satisfy the following (Equation 8).
Thus, when the

In order to generate moire fringes in the fringe scanning method, it is sufficient that the deviation shown in (Equation 11) exists, and a distance that is an integral multiple of the slit period (lattice period) d 0 is set as the amount of movement. Even if the added amount is set to the “predetermined movement amount P1”, moire can be generated similarly.
Next, a specific image generation method in the present embodiment will be described.
As described above, in this embodiment, a reconstructed image of a subject is generated based on n first group moire images and n second group moire images.
As described above, the image generation method of the present embodiment uses a plurality of grids (that is, the
Lattice deficiency (in FIG. 22 (a) to FIG. 22 (c) and the like, the deficient part of the lattice is indicated as Ba) means that a part of the lattice structure is collapsed or crushed as shown in FIG. 22 (a). And a portion that does not function as a lattice, as shown in FIG. 22B, a portion of the lattice is missing, a portion that is cracked and does not have a lattice structure, or a portion as shown in FIG. This refers to a portion where there is no lattice structure generated at the pasted portion when a large lattice is formed by pasting the small lattices. 22A to 22C show an example in which the second grating 15 (G2 grating) is deficient, but the X-ray source grating 12 (G0 grating, multi-slit) or the first grating is used. The same applies when 14 (G1 lattice) has a defect.
In the X-ray source grating 12 (G0 grating, multi-slit), the first grating 14 (G1 grating), and the second grating 15 (G2 grating), a part of the grating is accidentally lost in the manufacturing process or the like. Sometimes.
Further, in order to increase the field of view size, it is required to increase the area of the grating. However, it is conceivable to increase the size by bonding a plurality of small-size gratings and combining them. In particular, the first grating 14 (G1 grating) and the second grating 15 (G2 grating) are larger than the X-ray source grating 12 (G0 grating), and it is highly necessary to increase the size by bonding. However, in such a composite lattice, a gap is generated between the small-sized lattices at the bonding position of the small-sized lattices, and the portion becomes a lattice defect that has lost the lattice structure.
In this regard, for example, when generating a reconstructed image of a subject based on three moire images, as shown in FIG. 23, if there is no defect in any lattice, three moire images are acquired. Thus, a reconstructed image of the subject can be obtained.
That is, for example, the X-ray source grating 12 (G0 grating, multi-slit) is moved and scanned relative to the other gratings (first grating 14 (G1 grating), second grating 15 (G2 grating)) to produce moire. In the case of acquiring an image, as shown in FIG. 24, in a state where a subject is present, the reference position (initial position), the scanning position after the first movement, the scanning position after the second movement, and the scanning position after the second movement are each one in
As described above, in the fringe scanning method, in order to obtain a moiré image (an image in which moiré fringes appear), the amount of movement in each movement scanning is set to one period of the grating (see FIG. 8). What is necessary is just to set to the thing divided | segmented by the frequency | count. For example, when performing three times the movement scanning movement amounts P in a single scanning movement becomes d 0/3 obtained by dividing the slit period d 0 of the X-ray source grating 12 (G0 grating) in 3.
Then, moire images (FIGS. 24 (a) to 24 (c)) taken with a subject are respectively converted into moire images (FIGS. 24 (d) to 24 (c)) taken without a corresponding subject. Perform calibration by f)). Then, based on the three moiré images after calibration, a reconstructed image of the subject (FIG. 24G) is generated.
However, even when a reconstructed image of a subject is generated based on three moire images, as shown in FIG. 25, if any lattice has a defect, it is based on the three moire images. In the reconstructed image of the subject generated in this way, artifacts (false images, image defects) due to lattice defects appear.
That is, for example, as described above, the X-ray source grating 12 (G0 grating, multi-slit) is moved relative to other gratings (first grating 14 (G1 grating), second grating 15 (G2 grating)). When acquiring a moire image by scanning, as shown in FIG. 25, if there is a lattice defect in a part of the second lattice 15 (G2 lattice), X-ray absorption by the lattice structure is caused in the defect portion Ba. As a result, the count increases as compared with a pixel having no defect.
FIG. 26A to FIG. 26C show the reference position (initial position), the scanning position after the first movement, and the scanning after the second movement when there is a subject when there is a defect in the lattice. FIG. 26 (d) to FIG. 26 (f) show the reference position (initial position) and the first time in the absence of a subject when there are defects in the lattice. Three moire images acquired at the scanning position after movement and at the scanning position after the second movement are shown. As shown in FIGS. 26 (a) to 26 (f), when there is a defect in the lattice, moire does not occur in the part corresponding to the defect part Ba. For this reason, when the reconstructed image of the subject (FIG. 26G) is generated based on these moire images, the small-angle scattered image is missing because the moire fringe amplitude approaches zero. Also, in the absorption image, absorption information can be obtained even if moire does not occur, so there is no lack of image, but continuity with surrounding pixel values is lost due to the absence of absorption by the grid.
In this regard, in the

FIG. 28A to FIG. 28C show the first reference position (first initial position), the scanning position after the first movement, and the scanning position after the second movement in the state where the subject is present. FIG. 28 (d) to FIG. 28 (f) show the first reference position (first initial position) and the first time in the absence of the subject. 3 shows the first group of moire images obtained at the scanning position after movement and at the scanning position after the second movement.
As shown in FIG. 28 (a) to FIG. 28 (f), all images obtained by capturing the first group of moire images (first set) are shown on the left side of the figure with lattice defects. The resulting image defect appears.
29 (a) to 29 (c) show the second reference position (second initial position), the scanning position after the first movement, and the scanning after the second movement in the state where the subject is present. FIG. 29 (d) to FIG. 29 (f) show the second reference position (first initial position) and 1 in the state where there is no subject. 3 shows three second group moire images acquired at the scanning position after the second movement and at the scanning position after the second movement.
As shown in FIGS. 29 (a) to 29 (f), all the images obtained by capturing the second group of moire images (second set) are shown on the right side of the figure with lattice defects. The resulting image defect appears.
For this reason, the pixel information of the right part (the part surrounded by the broken line in the figure) of the image obtained by photographing the first group of moire images (the first set of photographs) that does not include the influence of the lattice defect, Generating a reconstructed image of a subject based on pixel information of a left side portion (portion surrounded by an alternate long and two short dashes line in the figure) of an image obtained by shooting two groups of moire images (second set shooting) As a result, a high-quality reconstructed image that is not affected by the lattice defect, as shown in FIG.
As shown in FIGS. 30 (a) and 30 (b), the
That is, the
The size of each grating is not particularly limited. For example, the X-direction width of the X-ray source grating 12 (G0 grating) is 10 mm. The first grid 14 (G1 grid) is a stack of three small size grids with a width of 24 mm in the x direction. . In addition, the second grid 15 (G2 grid) is a stack of three small size grids with a width of 30 mm in the x direction, and the paste angle of each small size grid is 178.85 degrees. .
In this case, first, as shown in FIG. 30 (a), after taking n times of predetermined times from the first reference position (first initial position) to obtain n first group moire images, The first grating 14 (G1 grating) and the second grating 15 (G2 grating) are translated in the x direction. Since it is necessary to clearly separate the area affected by the defect between the first set of shooting and the second set of shooting, the movement amount should be set so that two or more pixels are free. Further, in this case, since the maximum effect is produced at the position where the combination of the small-sized lattices is attached, a movement amount that greatly deviates from that is not allowed. Therefore, the amount of movement in this case is preferably about 500 to 2000 um.
FIG. 31 is a flowchart showing the flow of X-ray imaging control processing executed by the
As shown in FIG. 31, when the exposure switch of the
That is, the
In step S2, X-ray imaging with the subject placed on the subject table 13 (with subject) and X-ray photography with no subject placed on the subject table 13 (no subject) are performed. A moire image with a subject and a moire image without a subject are generated. Specifically, in each X-ray imaging, first, X-ray irradiation from the
When the imaging of each step in the first imaging is completed, the driving
When the shooting of each step in the second set of shooting is completed, the moire image of each step obtained by the first set of shooting and the second set of shooting is transmitted from the
FIG. 32 is a flowchart showing the flow of the reconstructed image creation process executed in the
As shown in FIG. 32, the moire image is first analyzed (step S11), and it is determined whether it can be used to create a reconstructed image (step S12). When the
If there is a moiré image in which a sine curve cannot be formed in the moiré image at each step, it is determined that it cannot be used to create a reconstructed image (step S12; N), and an instruction is given to change the shooting timing and reshoot. Control information is transmitted from the
On the other hand, when it is determined that a moiré image can be used to create a reconstructed image (step S12; Y), the moiré image is processed by the
In this case, as described above, the
At this time, with respect to pixels that do not include the influence of the lattice defect in either the first group of moire images or the second group of moire images, the reconstructed image is obtained by averaging the reconstructed pixel values in both sets. It is preferably used for the production of Thereby, the granularity of a reconstructed image can be improved about the pixel part which does not include the influence of the defect | deletion of a grating | lattice. In this embodiment, two sets of moiré image groups are photographed. As described above, pixel information of all the moiré images of the moiré images of both sets is not included in the reconstructed image. By using it for generation, it is possible to use the captured image so as not to be wasted as much as possible.
As described above, in the present embodiment, the first set of images is taken in the first relative positional relationship of a plurality of lattices, and n (three in this embodiment) first group moire images are generated. After that, the plurality of lattices are set to a second relative positional relationship different from the first relative positional relationship, the second set of images is taken, and n (three in this embodiment) second images are taken. A group of moire images is generated. Then, the
Thereby, it is possible to generate a reconfigurable image that is not affected by the lattice defect, and an image suitable for diagnosis can be obtained even when the lattice is defective.
Furthermore, according to the image generation method in the present embodiment, any defect position Ba on the lattice can be corrected up to a defect width corresponding to one third of the visual field size on the
In addition, since the movement amount of the lattice between the first set of photographing and the second set of photographing is set based on the width of the defect generated in any of the plurality of lattices, The grid can be moved larger than the width of the defect during the second set, and images with different pixel positions affected by the defect can be obtained in the first and second sets. . Then, by reconstructing the image from each set of images using pixel information (pixel value) that does not include the effect of the defect, a high-quality reconfigurable image that is not affected by the lattice defect is generated. be able to.
Moreover, in this embodiment, the X-ray source grating |
In the present embodiment, the
In particular, since the
In addition, the said embodiment is a suitable example of this invention, and the scope of the present invention is not limited to this.
For example, in the present embodiment, a scanning Talbot apparatus using a Talbot-Lau interferometer including an X-ray source grating, a first grating, and a second grating has been described as an example of the fringe scanning method. What is used is not limited to the Talbot-Lau interferometer. As a fringe scanning method, the
Further, the scanning Talbot device is not limited to the one using the fringe scanning method. For example, the present invention may be applied to a scanning Talbot apparatus that performs imaging using a one-dimensional grating or a two-dimensional grating that does not require fringe scanning or a normal phase contrast system.
In the present embodiment, the case where the
As a configuration for moving the
The stepping motor applied as a driving source for moving the
Further, in the present embodiment, the case where there is a lattice defect in the
Moreover, even when there are lattice defects in all of the
In this case, as shown in FIGS. 33 (a) and 33 (b), the X-ray source grating 12, the
Further, in this embodiment, two sets of n moire images necessary for generating a reconstructed image of a subject are photographed, 2n moire images are acquired, and based on this, a reconstructed image of the subject is obtained. In the case of generating, the number of moiré images (actual number of shootings) to be actually acquired with respect to the number of moiré images (number of shootings) “n” theoretically required for the reconstructed image is set. (How much to increase) is not limited to “2n” exemplified here.
The
Further, the following configuration may be further provided in the configuration shown in the present embodiment.
That is, for example, a pixel area that cannot be used to generate a reconstructed image in each imaging by arranging a collimator or the like between the
In addition, an imaging unit such as a CCD camera is provided in the vicinity of the X-ray irradiation port of the imaging unit, and positioning is confirmed based on an image obtained by the imaging unit such as a CCD camera instead of performing pre-imaging by X-ray irradiation. Or may be adjusted. In this case, for example, an image at the time of proper positioning is stored in advance, and the image and the current image are overlapped to see if there is any deviation. Positioning the joint part requires three-dimensional adjustment, but if there is no deviation in the two-dimensional image, it can be estimated that there is no deviation in three dimensions. Etc. can be used. In addition, by providing two photographing means such as a CCD camera and photographing the joint portion from different directions such as the xy direction and the yz direction, it is possible to confirm positioning more reliably.
In the above embodiment, the
In the second arrangement, the subject center and the
The effective spatial resolution at the subject position depends on the focal diameter of the X-ray, the spatial resolution of the detector, the magnification of the subject, the thickness of the subject, and the like. When the resolution is 120 μm (Gauss half width) or less, the effective spatial resolution is smaller in the second arrangement than in the first arrangement.
It is preferable to determine the order of arrangement of the
In the present embodiment, the subject table 13 is described as an example of a completely separate configuration. However, the subject table 13 may be fixed to the base 19 or the like. In this case, a buffer member or the like is provided between the subject table 13 and the
The height of the subject table 13 may be adjusted according to the patient's body shape and the like.
Further, as the
