Description
基板10は、その上に波長変換部材20を設けるための部材である。波長変換部材20に励起光が照射されると、励起光は蛍光体粉末30により波長変換される。このとき、蛍光体粉末30は、波長変換された光だけでなく熱も発する。そこで、基板10は放熱性に優れた材料から構成することができる。例えば、銅やアルミニウムを用いて基板10とすることができる。なお、波長変換装置100に基板10を設けない構成であっても、本発明の効果を得られることは明らかである。
波長変換部材20は、蛍光体粉末30と保持体40とを有する。波長変換部材20は、例えば、蛍光体粉末30と保持体40とを混合させ、SPS(Spark Plasma Sintering:放電プラズマ焼結)、HIP(Hot Isostatic Pressing:熱間静水圧成形)、CIP(Cold Isostatic Pressing:冷間等方加圧成形)等の焼結法を用いて形成することができる。波長変換部材20に励起光が照射されると、蛍光体粉末30から波長変換された光が放出される。

Claims (2)
- 蛍光体粉末と保持体用の原料粉末と焼結を促進させる助剤の混合粉末を、焼結して前記
蛍光体粉末が保持体によって保持された波長変換部材を得る工程と、
前記波長変換部材の上面に化学的機械研磨処理を施すCMP処理工程と、を含み、
前記助剤の前記化学的機械研磨処理におけるエッチングレートが前記保持体の前記化学
的機械研磨処理におけるエッチングレートより高いことを特徴とする波長変換装置の製造
方法。 - 前記蛍光体粉末の化学的機械研磨処理におけるエッチングレートが、前記保持体の化学
的機械研磨処理におけるエッチングレートより低い請求項1に記載の波長変換装置の製造
方法。
