Description
The technology disclosed in this specification relates to a technology for melting and solidifying radioactive waste.
In general, combustible radioactive waste generated at a nuclear power plant or the like is first incinerated at an incineration facility and reduced to ash. Such incineration ash and nonflammable miscellaneous solids are loaded into a crucible installed in a high-frequency melting apparatus. Next, the crucible is heated by induction heating to melt and cool and solidify the radioactive waste loaded in the crucible. The cooled and solidified radioactive waste is stored (discarded) in a predetermined facility. Usually, a conductive ceramic container containing carbon is used for the crucible. Although ceramic crucibles are basically designed not to be damaged, they may be damaged by physical impact during transportation or the impact of abnormal combustion of a large amount of volatile substances that are accidentally charged. is there. If the crucible is damaged, the molten metal may leak from the damaged part. Therefore, Patent Document 1 discloses a technique in which a crucible is housed in a ceramic outer cylinder, and heat-resistant powder is filled between the crucible and the outer cylinder so that the melting container has a two-layer structure. . In this technique, even if the inner crucible is damaged, the outer cylinder prevents the molten metal from flowing out. In Patent Document 1, a container in which an aggregate such as SiC or Al 2 O 3 is sintered with carbon bonds to have conductivity is used as a crucible.
In the technique disclosed in Patent Document 1, even if the crucible (inner container) is damaged, the outer cylinder (outer container) must be damaged by making the container for melting radioactive waste into two layers. As a result, it is possible to prevent the hot molten metal having radioactivity from flowing out. However, in the two-layer container of Patent Document 1, the outer cylinder is also made of ceramic and may be damaged by physical impact. If the outer container is damaged, it is impossible to prevent the molten metal from flowing out when the inner crucible is damaged. As a method for solving this problem, it is conceivable to use a metal outer cylinder. By using a metal outer cylinder, the outer cylinder is less likely to be damaged by a physical impact applied during transportation. However, in a two-layer container composed of a crucible and a metal outer cylinder made by sintering ordinary aggregate such as SiC or Al 2 O 3 by carbon bond, metal The temperature of the crucible cannot be increased to a temperature at which the waste can be sufficiently melted because the temperature of the outer cylinder made of the product becomes higher than the temperature of the inner crucible.
In the present specification, in a melting container installed in a high-frequency melting apparatus, a technique capable of reducing the possibility of the molten metal flowing out and appropriately raising the temperature of the crucible to a temperature at which waste can be melted. Is disclosed.
The melting container disclosed in the present specification is installed in a high-frequency melting apparatus, and heats and melts the charged radioactive waste by induction heating. The melting container includes a crucible loaded with radioactive waste, an outer cylinder that accommodates the crucible, and a heat insulating material that is filled between the crucible and the outer cylinder. The crucible is a container formed of ceramic containing carbon and impregnated. The outer cylinder is a metal container.
According to this configuration, since the crucible is impregnated, the electrical resistivity is reduced and the crucible is likely to generate heat. For this reason, compared with the crucible which does not perform an impregnation process, when the outer cylinder temperature is the same, the crucible which performed the impregnation process can make the temperature of a crucible higher. Therefore, radioactive waste can be appropriately melted. Moreover, since the impregnation process is performed, the possibility that the crucible is oxidized during the melting process and the heat generation characteristics are deteriorated can be reduced. That is, the durability of the crucible can be improved. Furthermore, since the outer cylinder that accommodates the crucible is made of metal, the possibility that the outer cylinder is damaged due to physical impact or the like is reduced as compared with the case where the outer cylinder is made of ceramic. Therefore, the occurrence of a situation where the molten metal flows out to the outside can be suppressed.
The present specification discloses a high-frequency melting apparatus having the melting container. The high frequency melting apparatus has a furnace body and an induction heating coil. The furnace body contains a melting vessel. The induction heating coil is disposed outside the furnace body and induction-heats the melting container accommodated inside the furnace body. According to this configuration, the induction heating coil can appropriately raise the temperature of the melting container, and the radioactive waste inside the melting container can be melted.
Details of the technology disclosed in this specification and further improvements will be described in detail in the detailed description and examples.
The main features of the embodiments described below are listed. The technical elements described below are independent technical elements and exhibit technical usefulness alone or in various combinations, and are not limited to the combinations described in the claims at the time of filing. Absent.
(Characteristic 1) In the melting container disclosed in the present specification, the crucible may be impregnated with an impregnation pitch. According to this configuration, since the electric resistance of the crucible becomes small and the crucible easily generates heat, the melting temperature can be increased. Therefore, radioactive waste can be appropriately melted. In addition, since the impregnation treatment with the impregnation pitch makes it difficult for carbon to come into contact with air, there is an anti-oxidation effect, and the possibility that the crucible is oxidized during the melting treatment to deteriorate the heat generation characteristics can be reduced. That is, the durability of the crucible can be improved.
(Characteristic 2) The melting container disclosed in the present specification has an electric resistance of the crucible and the outer cylinder so that the temperature of the crucible becomes higher than the temperature of the outer cylinder when the radioactive waste is melted. The ratio and the ratio between the thickness of the crucible and the outer cylinder may be adjusted. According to this configuration, radioactive waste can be melted at a temperature higher than the heat resistance temperature of the outer cylinder while maintaining the function of the outer cylinder. That is, while the temperature of the outer cylinder is lower than the heat resistance temperature of the outer cylinder, the temperature of the crucible is made higher than the heat resistance temperature of the outer cylinder, and the radioactive waste loaded in the crucible can be melted.
(Characteristic 3) In the melting container disclosed in the present specification, the outer cylinder may be a nonmagnetic metal. According to this configuration, when the outer cylinder is heated at a high frequency (described later), the temperature of the outer cylinder is difficult to rise, so that the crucible is appropriately maintained while keeping the temperature of the outer cylinder made of metal below the heat resistant temperature. Can be heated.

As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the melting
The crucible 4 is a bottomed container and is made of a conductive ceramic containing carbon. The electrical resistivity of the crucible 4 is adjusted to a range of 1 × 10 −6 to 3 × 10 −5 [Ωm] by adjusting the carbon content of the ceramic and performing an impregnation treatment (described later) with an impregnation pitch. ing. By doing so, the crucible 4 can be suitably heated by the eddy current generated in the crucible 4. That is, when a high frequency power source is applied to the
The
As the
Here, the ratio of the electrical resistivity of the crucible 4 and the
Next, an example will be described in which a processed object to be melted is melted by the high-
When the melting
Next, an experiment in which radioactive waste is actually melted and solidified using the high-
Next, the ratio of the electrical resistivity of the crucible 4 and the
In the experiment shown in Table 1 (hereinafter referred to as Experiment 1), a container made of SUS304 was used for the
In Experiment 1, the electrical resistivity ratio was ρ2 / ρ1 = 0.124, and the thickness ratio was t1 / t2 = 8. However, as a result of research, the electrical resistivity ratio was ρ2 / ρ1 ≧ 0. 1 and / or if the thickness ratio is t1 / t2 ≧ 3, it is understood that the crucible 4 as the inner container can be heated to 100 [° C.] or more higher than the
Advantages of the high
Conventionally, after radioactive waste has been melted and cooled and solidified, the crucible is housed in a drum and disposed of in a storage room. However, since the
Here, since the induction heating coil installed in the high-frequency melting apparatus is disposed on the outer periphery of the furnace body that accommodates the melting container, generally, the outer container is more likely to generate heat by induction heating than the inner container. Therefore, when the
