Description
本発明に係る他の具体的態様は、マルチプレックス駆動により動作する垂直配向型の液晶表示装置において、反視認方向から観察したときの各画素のエッジ付近における光抜けを均質化して表示品位を向上させるとともに、正面観察時の表示均一性を出来るだけ低いフレーム周波数で実現することを目的の1つとする。

Claims (3)
- 対向配置された第1基板及び第2基板と、
前記第1基板の一面に設けられており、第1方向に延在する第1電極と、
前記第2基板の一面に設けられており、第1方向と交差する第2方向に延在する第2電極と、
前記第1基板の一面と前記第2基板の一面の相互間に設けられた液晶層、
を含み、
前記第1基板と前記第2基板にはそれぞれ配向処理が施され、
前記液晶層は、ねじれ構造を有する略垂直配向であり、
前記第1電極と前記第2電極とが平面視において重なる箇所において画素が構成され、
前記画素の画素エッジは、前記第1電極と前記第2電極の各々の電極エッジによって構成され、前記第1方向に対して斜交する線分を有しており、
前記斜交する線分は、前記第2電極の電極エッジからなり、相互に異なる方向に延びる第1直線及び第2直線を接続して構成され、
前記第1直線及び前記第2直線は、前記第2方向と平行な長さ成分をそれぞれXa、Xbとすると、前記Xaが前記Xbの3倍以上の関係にあり、
前記第1直線は、平面視において、前記液晶層の層厚方向の略中央における液晶分子の配向方向と直交する方向に対して5°以上15°以下の角度をなす、
液晶表示装置。 - 対向配置された第1基板及び第2基板と、
前記第1基板の一面に設けられており、第1方向に延在する第1電極と、
前記第2基板の一面に設けられており、第1方向と交差する第2方向に延在する第2電極と、
前記第1基板の一面と前記第2基板の一面の相互間に設けられた液晶層、
を含み、
前記第1基板と前記第2基板にはそれぞれ配向処理が施され、
前記液晶層は、ねじれ構造を有する略垂直配向であり、
前記第1電極と前記第2電極とが平面視において重なる箇所において画素が構成され、
前記画素の画素エッジは、前記第1電極と前記第2電極の各々の電極エッジによって構成され、前記第1方向に対して斜交する線分を有しており、
前記斜交する線分は、前記第2電極の電極エッジからなり、相互に異なる方向に延びる第1直線及び第2直線を接続して構成され、
前記第1直線及び前記第2直線は、互いの長さがほぼ等しく、かつ相互に異なる方向に延びており、
前記第1直線及び前記第2直線は、それぞれ、平面視において、前記液晶層の層厚方向の略中央における液晶分子の配向方向と直交する方向に対して5°以上15°以下の角度をなす、
液晶表示装置。 - 前記層厚方向の略中央における液晶分子の配向方向が前記第1方向と略平行である、請求項1又は2に記載の液晶表示装置。
