Description
The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for producing a carbon nanofiber structure, a carbon nanofiber structure, a carbon nanofiber electrode, and a carbon nanofiber conductive wire.
Carbon nanotube electrodes are attracting attention as they have excellent conductivity as electrodes and conductive wires for dye-sensitized solar cells, lithium ion secondary batteries, lithium ion capacitors, electric double layer capacitors, fuel cells, metal-air batteries, etc. ing.
In such a carbon nanotube production method for a carbon nanotube electrode, a CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) method using a gas as a raw material is usually used. In the CVD method, carbon nanotubes grow from a catalyst supported on a substrate in an atmosphere of high-temperature source gas or hydrogen gas.
In addition, a method using a liquid having a low boiling point such as ethanol as a raw material is also known (see Patent Document 1 below). In this method, a carbon nanotube is grown by heating a substrate carrying a catalyst in a liquid.
However, in both the CVD method using a raw material gas and the method using a liquid as a raw material, the growth rate of carbon nanotubes is insufficient, and there is still room for improvement in terms of productivity of carbon nanotubes. .
The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and a carbon nanofiber structure manufacturing method and apparatus, carbon nanofiber structure, and carbon nanofiber capable of sufficiently improving the productivity of the carbon nanofiber structure. An object is to provide a fiber electrode and a carbon nanofiber conductive wire.
In order to solve the above problems, the present inventor first examined the cause of insufficient carbon nanotube growth rate in both the CVD method using a source gas and the method using a liquid as a source material. As a result, the present inventor thought that the growth rate of carbon nanotubes would be insufficient for the following reasons. That is, in the CVD method using a raw material gas, the raw material gas is usually supplied to the catalyst in a state diluted with an inert gas. For this reason, when manufacturing a carbon nanotube from source gas, source gas with low carbon concentration will be converted into solid with high carbon concentration. That is, the amount of carbon supplied to the catalyst per hour is reduced. For this reason, it is considered that the growth rate of carbon nanotubes becomes insufficient. On the other hand, in a method using a liquid such as ethanol as a raw material, when the substrate is heated to activate the catalyst, the liquid gasified by the heat of the substrate is supplied to the catalyst. In this case, a Leidenfrost phenomenon occurs in which a vapor film is formed between the substrate and the liquid. As a result, the direct contact between the liquid and the catalyst becomes insufficient, and the growth rate of the carbon nanotubes becomes insufficient. The present inventor thought that it might be. Here, it is conceivable to lower the temperature of the substrate below the boiling point of the raw material liquid, but in that case, it becomes difficult to activate the catalyst supported on the substrate, resulting in the growth rate of the carbon nanotubes. Is considered to be insufficient. Therefore, as a result of further earnest research, the present inventors have found that the above problems can be solved by using a raw material having a sufficiently high carbon concentration and a high boiling point and a high melting point as a raw material, and completed the present invention. It came to do.
That is, the present invention includes a step of bringing a raw material and a catalyst on a heated substrate into contact to form a carbon nanofiber on one surface side of the substrate to produce a carbon nanofiber structure. This is a method for producing a carbon nanofiber structure composed of a liquid or a solid containing a ring aromatic hydrocarbon.
According to this method for producing a carbon nanofiber structure, carbon nanofibers can be grown on one surface side of the substrate at a sufficiently high growth rate. For this reason, the productivity of the carbon nanofiber structure can be sufficiently improved.
The inventor presumes the reason why the growth rate of carbon nanofibers can be sufficiently increased by the production method of the present invention as follows.
That is, when the substrate is heated, the catalyst supported on the substrate is also heated and becomes active. At this time, a liquid or solid containing a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon is used as a raw material. For this reason, unlike a low-boiling point alcohol such as ethanol, the difference between the temperature of the substrate and the evaporation temperature of the raw material is small. Therefore, the amount of vapor generated between the substrate and the raw material is not so large as to form a film that separates the raw material and the substrate (Leidenfrost phenomenon), and as a result, the raw material and the catalyst are sufficiently in contact with each other. It becomes possible. In addition, the raw material has a higher carbon concentration than alcohol such as ethanol. For this reason, the amount of carbon supply to the catalyst per hour increases. For the above reasons, the present inventor speculates that carbon nanofibers can be efficiently grown and the growth rate of carbon nanofibers can be sufficiently increased.
Moreover, this invention is a carbon nanofiber structure manufactured by the manufacturing method of the said carbon nanofiber structure.
Furthermore, this invention is a carbon nanofiber electrode provided with the said carbon nanofiber structure.
Furthermore, the present invention is a carbon nanofiber electrode obtained by transferring the carbon nanofiber of the carbon nanofiber structure to a conductive substrate.
In addition, the present invention is a carbon nanofiber conductive wire obtained by drawing out the carbon nanofiber of the carbon nanofiber structure.
The present invention also provides a carbon nanofiber structure manufacturing apparatus for manufacturing a carbon nanofiber structure having carbon nanofibers on one surface side of the base, the base being rotatably supported, and the outer periphery of the base Supplying a catalyst coating device for coating a coating solution containing a catalyst material on the surface, a first heating device for heating the catalyst material, and a reducing gas for reducing the catalyst material heated by the first heating device; A reducing gas supply device that forms an activated particulate catalyst, a raw material coating device that applies a raw material to and contacts the catalyst, and a second heating device that heats a portion of the substrate to which the raw material is applied And the raw material is made of a liquid or solid containing polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.
According to this carbon nanofiber structure manufacturing apparatus, when the substrate is rotated, the coating liquid is applied to the outer peripheral surface of the substrate by the catalyst coating device. Then, the catalyst material is heated by the first heating device. Then, after the catalyst material is heated, the reducing gas is supplied to the catalyst material by the reducing gas supply device, and the catalyst material becomes an activated particulate catalyst. On the other hand, the portion of the substrate to which the raw material is applied is heated by the second heating device. And a raw material is apply | coated to a catalyst with a raw material application | coating apparatus in the state in which the part to which a raw material is apply | coated is heated among bases. Then, carbon is supplied from the raw material to the catalyst, and carbon nanofibers grow on the outer peripheral surface side of the substrate. At this time, by using a liquid or solid containing a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon as a raw material, it becomes possible to grow carbon nanofibers at a sufficiently high growth rate on the outer peripheral surface side of the substrate. For this reason, the productivity of the carbon nanofiber structure can be sufficiently improved.
In the present invention, “carbon nanofiber” refers to a hollow or solid fibrous body made of carbon and having a thickness of 50 nm or less.
ADVANTAGE OF THE INVENTION According to this invention, the manufacturing method and manufacturing apparatus of a carbon nanofiber structure which can fully improve the productivity of a carbon nanofiber structure, a carbon nanofiber structure, a carbon nanofiber electrode, and a carbon nanofiber conductive wire Is provided.
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.

In the method of manufacturing the
According to the manufacturing method of the
Hereinafter, the manufacturing method of the
First, a carbon
First, the
Examples of the material constituting the
The thickness of the
Next, the
As the
The average particle size of the
Examples of the dispersion medium include organic solvents such as toluene, hexane, cyclohexanone, and terpineol. These can be used alone or in combination of two or more.
Thus, the carbon
Next, the
Here, as the raw material, a liquid or a solid containing a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon is used as described above.
Examples of the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon include anthracene, naphthacene, pentacene, benzopyrene, chrysene, pyrene, triphenylene, corannulene, coronene, fluoranthene, fluorene, acetaften and ovalen. These can be used alone or in combination of two or more. Among these, it is preferable to use a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon having a melting point and a boiling point of 400 ° C. or higher. When the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon has a melting point and boiling point of 400 ° C. or higher, the difference between the temperature of the
Specifically, tar, creosote oil, pitch, coal tar, or the like can be used as the liquid or solid containing the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon. These can be used alone or in combination of two or more.
The liquid or solid may contain a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon. Therefore, the liquid or solid may be composed of only the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon or may be composed of a mixture of the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon and another substance. Examples of other substances include unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbons.
The temperature of the raw material when contacting with the
When two or more kinds of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are contained in the raw material, the temperature of the raw material when contacting the
The viscosity when the raw material is liquid is preferably 3000 mPa · s or less at the temperature of the raw material when contacting the
The temperature of the
The
Examples of the method for bringing the
In this way, the
In the
The carbon nanofiber electrode thus obtained is extremely useful as a transparent electrode for a dye-sensitized solar cell, a lithium ion secondary battery, a lithium ion capacitor, an electric double layer capacitor, a fuel cell, a metal-air battery, etc., and a touch panel. is there.
It is also possible to obtain a carbon nanofiber conductive wire composed of the
Next, an example of a manufacturing apparatus for manufacturing the above-described

A rotating shaft (not shown) may be passed through the inside of the
As the
As the reducing gas, for example, hydrogen gas or an inert gas (argon gas or nitrogen gas) having an extremely low oxygen partial pressure can be used. For example, oxygen gas or water vapor can be used as the oxidizing gas.
According to this
After the
Moreover, according to the
In the
Further, the
