Description
本発明は静電潜像を形成した像担持体に、導電性粒子を主成分とするトナー粒子を分散した液体現像剤を接触させ現像し、現像したトナー粒子画像を誘電体メディア上に転写形成させて導電性パターンを有する回路基板を製造する導電パターン形成装置及び導電パターン形成方法に関する。 In the present invention, an image carrier on which an electrostatic latent image is formed is contacted with a liquid developer in which toner particles mainly composed of conductive particles are dispersed and developed, and the developed toner particle image is transferred and formed on a dielectric medium. The present invention relates to a conductive pattern forming apparatus and a conductive pattern forming method for manufacturing a circuit board having a conductive pattern.
Conventionally, as a method for forming an arbitrary conductive pattern on a circuit board, a method combining a lithography technique, an etching technique, and a plating technique is generally used. However, this method requires advanced processing techniques and skill. Furthermore, since a series of processes is complicated, a long production time and a high cost are required. In addition, many kinds of small-quantity production required a lot of labor to correct the mask, which caused problems such as an increase in cost and an increase in delivery time. Not only that, it is necessary to dispose of environmentally hazardous substances such as resists and etching solutions, and the management and processing of these substances is costly.
これらの問題点がない簡便な工程として、導電性粒子と結着樹脂とを溶媒中に分散した導電性ペーストを用いて、製版されたメッシュを通すことでパターン形成を行うスクリーン印刷法などが提案されている。また導電ペーストを用いてディスペンサーで回路を形成する方法や、金属インクを用いてインクジェットで回路を形成する方法などノズル走査により基板に直接パターン形成を行う描画法が提案されている。 As a simple process that does not have these problems, a screen printing method that uses a conductive paste in which conductive particles and a binder resin are dispersed in a solvent to form a pattern by passing a plate-making mesh is proposed. Has been. In addition, a drawing method has been proposed in which a pattern is directly formed on a substrate by nozzle scanning, such as a method of forming a circuit with a dispenser using a conductive paste or a method of forming a circuit with an ink jet using a metal ink.
However, in the screen printing method, it is not easy to make a printing screen, which is essential for pattern formation. Therefore, a large amount of screen plate making is required for the production of a small variety of products that require many types of patterns. The increase is a challenge. On the other hand, dispensers, ink jets, and the like have a problem that a long printing time is required because a pattern is directly drawn on a substrate by scanning a nozzle, and that a large area and mass production cannot be handled.
Therefore, in recent years, as a new conductive pattern forming method, a method of forming a conductive pattern on a dielectric medium using electrostatic force using toner containing conductive metal particles in a resin, so-called electrophotographic method, has attracted attention. It became so. Since this method is close to printing, it is suitable not only for mass production and large-area pattern formation, but also because it can easily change the conductive pattern, so it is also suitable for low-volume, multi-product production.
However, in general, the electrophotographic method has a problem that the line width of the fine line is widened when transferring the toner from the image carrier to the dielectric medium. The widening of the line width when forming the conductive pattern is not preferable because it causes a short circuit with the adjacent wiring. Even if it does not cause a problem with an image using colored particles of a general printer, it may cause a fatal problem in the use for forming a conductive pattern.
Here, since toner particles move and transfer in the liquid, for example, in a system such as roller transfer, a lateral flow of the liquid occurs during the transfer, and the toner particles also flow along with the liquid. It has the disadvantage of being easy to spread.
In addition, toner with conductive particles as a main component, unlike toner with resin particles for general printers, cannot be expected to have an adhesive force between particles. Therefore, when external force is applied to a pattern composed of a plurality of toners, the layer is formed. For example, in a system such as roller transfer, the image is easily collapsed due to the transfer pressure, and the line width is likely to be widened at the time of transfer as compared with toner using resin particles of a general printer.
Therefore, it is necessary to take a special configuration in order to minimize the spread of toner during transfer.
Although there are various substrates for forming the conductive pattern, the present invention is mainly directed to a dielectric film. Dielectric films are roughly classified into two types: roll shape (hereinafter referred to as roll media) and strip shape (hereinafter referred to as cut media). Conventionally, there has been an electrophotographic printer that uses roll paper, but there is no configuration that suppresses the expansion of the line width during transfer by wet development using roll paper, and in particular, conductive particles are the main component. It is not known in a liquid development method using a liquid developer in which toner particles are dispersed. In the field of dry electrophotography, cut paper is generally used. However, there is no known configuration in which cut paper is used in wet electrophotography and the line width during transfer is suppressed. Also, there is no known method for using a conveyance frame when conveying cut paper.
Hereinafter, differences between the present invention and known techniques will be described.

Non-Patent
In the past patent documents, the circuit formation method using the electrophotographic method is simpler than the combination of the conventional lithography method and the etching technology, the screen printing method, and the ink jet method, and the points such as cost reduction and mass productivity are included. It is stated that it is excellent. Certainly, the electrophotographic method has many advantages over the production of a small variety of substrates.
However, if the image is output using a liquid developer in which toner particles containing conductive particles as a main component are dispersed, the line width becomes significantly thicker than the intended line width, and fine lines cannot be drawn. was there. Further, there has been no known method capable of transferring toner particles containing conductive particles as a main component to cut media.

The medium 70 may be an insulating material, and a resin film, a ceramic green sheet, paper, or the like can be used.
General resin such as polyethylene resin film, polypropylene resin film, polystyrene resin film, polyethylene terephthalate resin film, polyethylene naphthalate resin film, polyamide resin film, polyimide resin film, polyvinyl chloride resin film, fluororesin film Although a film can be employed, it is necessary to withstand the firing temperature of the conductive particles contained in the toner particles, and a polyamide resin film and a polyimide resin film are particularly preferable.
In the case of the ceramic green sheet, the ceramic sheet and the resin film are bonded together. After the toner particles are transferred to the ceramic green sheet as the medium 70 by the conductive

The present invention relates to an apparatus / method for forming a pattern of toner particles mainly composed of conductive particles, and firing is performed to make the pattern of toner particles mainly composed of conductive particles conductive or low resistance. There may be a need. A
The firing temperature may be any temperature that is sufficient to fire the conductive particles contained in the toner particles. In the case where the conductive particles are metal particles, the conductive particles are fused to each other even when the melting point of the metal block (bulk metal) is below, and a firing effect appears. In particular, silver, copper, and gold are particularly preferable because they can be fired at a low temperature, and a firing effect appears at 150 ° C. or higher. When a resin film such as polyimide is used for the media, the firing temperature needs to be lower than the heat resistant temperature of the resin film. For example, in the case of a polyimide film, the temperature is 350 ° C. or lower, preferably 260 ° C. or lower.
In the case of a material such as copper that is oxidized by heating and has an increased electrical resistance, it is desirable to improve conductivity by firing in an oxygen-free state or a reducing atmosphere such as hydrogen plasma.
In another application, metal particles can be transferred onto a ceramic green sheet and fired at the same time as the ceramic to serve both as firing of the ceramic and firing of the electrode. As the metal used here, nickel, silver and copper are preferably used, and the firing temperature of the metal particles is approximately the same as the firing temperature of the ceramic. The firing temperature at this time varies depending on the type of ceramic, but in the case of barium titanate, a temperature of about 1000 ° C. or higher is preferable.
As the conductive particles used for the toner of the liquid developer, those made of silver, copper, nickel, gold, platinum, palladium, aluminum, tin, tungsten, molybdenum, carbon, or an oxide or alloy thereof can be applied. Among these, silver, copper, nickel, gold, platinum, palladium, and aluminum are preferable, and silver, copper, and nickel are particularly preferable. There are no particular limitations on the particle size of the toner particles and the conductive particles mainly composed of the conductive particles used in the present invention. However, the particle size of the conductive particles as the main component of the toner particles is more preferably 0.1 to 5 μm, and particularly preferably 0.3 to 3 μm for improving the conductivity. Further, the particle diameter of the toner particles is more preferably from 0.1 to 5 [mu] m, particularly preferably from 0.3 to 3 [mu] m, from the viewpoint of development characteristics and ease of handling.
The toner particles containing conductive particles as a main component are those in which the weight of the conductive particles contained in the toner particles is 50% or more. A plurality of conductive particles may be contained in one toner particle, but it is preferable to have one conductive particle in order to develop conductivity. When one conductive particle is contained in one toner particle, the surface of the conductive particle is modified with a synthetic resin or an additive other than the synthetic resin.
Examples of the synthetic resin used in the liquid developer include ethyl cellulose, methyl methacrylic acid resin, acrylic acid resin, polyvinyl pyrrolidone resin, alkylated polyvinyl pyrrolidone resin, and vinyl pyrrolidone acetate copolymer resin. Examples of additives other than the synthetic resin used in the liquid developer include organic acids such as rosin, phthalic acid, maleic acid, fumaric acid, lauric acid, and stearic acid. Hereinafter, the synthetic resin and additives other than the synthetic resin are collectively referred to as “additives such as synthetic resin”. Firing is performed after the conductive pattern is formed, but if the additive such as synthetic resin is thermally decomposed and removed at this firing temperature, the contact between the metal particles is improved and the electric resistance is further reduced.
The weight ratio of these additive solids such as synthetic resin to the sum of the conductive particles and the additive solids such as synthetic resin (hereinafter referred to as “synthetic resin solids ratio”) is limited in carrying out the present invention. is not. However, from the viewpoint of improving conductivity, 1% to 15% is preferable, and a solid content ratio such as synthetic resin is preferably 3% to 9%.
These additives such as synthetic resin are adsorbed to the conductive particles by electrostatic force, and coat the conductive particles to constitute toner particles. Thereby, electric charge is imparted to the conductive particles, and the effect of preventing aggregation of the conductive particles in the dispersion medium is obtained.
