Description
The present invention relates to a non-water zinc-based flux coating used particularly for brazing an aluminum member.
From the viewpoint of weight reduction, aluminum or an aluminum alloy (hereinafter, sometimes collectively referred to as “aluminum” in some cases) is used as a forming material for an automotive heat exchanger or the like. Conventionally, when joining aluminum members by brazing, a method is generally employed in which, after assembling the members to be joined, a flux is applied to the surface of the members, dried, and heated to a brazing temperature.
The brazing composition used for brazing contains, for example, a (meth) acrylate polymer as a binder and a zinc flux as a flux. Such brazing compositions include aqueous ones (Patent Documents 1 to 3) and non-aqueous ones (Patent Document 4).
By the way, the (meth) acrylic acid ester polymer used as the binder does not dissolve in water. Therefore, in water-based compositions, measures are taken so that (meth) acrylic acid ester-based polymers do not precipitate, but for example, if stored for a long period of time, the possibility of precipitation increases. As a result, there is a possibility that a precipitate is formed in the composition or the viscosity of the composition is high (gelation). The zinc-based flux is ionized when it comes into contact with water, and zinc ions are generated in the composition. This zinc ion may react with the carboxyl group in the (meth) acrylic acid ester polymer to cause gelation.
On the other hand, non-aqueous compositions are substantially free of water in the composition. However, during long-term storage, water may be mixed in due to some factors such as mixing of water in the atmosphere. In this case, as described above, there is a possibility that a precipitate is formed in the composition, or the viscosity of the composition is high (gelation).
An object of the present invention is to provide a non-aqueous zinc-based flux coating material in which the generation of precipitates such as flux and binder is suppressed and has excellent brazing properties.

The non-aqueous zinc-based flux paint of the present invention includes a flux containing zinc fluoride, a (meth) acrylic resin, an alcohol solvent, and a specific anti-settling agent.
The flux containing zinc fluoride used in the present invention, when used for brazing an aluminum member, forms a zinc diffusion layer on the surface of the aluminum member to exert a sacrificial corrosion action and is formed on the aluminum surface. It is used to reduce and remove the oxide film and promote the formation of a eutectic alloy of aluminum and brazing material.
As the zinc fluoride, a K—Zn—F-based compound is generally used. Specifically, potassium fluorozincate (KZnF 3 ) and the like can be mentioned, and if necessary, a compound in which potassium is replaced with another alkali metal such as cesium or rubidium may be used. When such a zinc fluoride is used, (I) production of zinc ions is suppressed more than that of zinc metal alone, (II) a flux function is exhibited by the action of fluoride, (III) metal (aluminum member) There are advantages such as being less susceptible to corrosion.
The (meth) acrylic resin used in the present invention is a polymer obtained by polymerizing a (meth) acrylic compound such as (meth) acrylic acid or (meth) acrylic acid ester. In the present specification, “(meth) acryl” means acryl or methacryl.

Examples of alkyl esters of (meth) acrylic acid include methyl (meth) acrylate, ethyl (meth) acrylate, hydroxyethyl (meth) acrylate, butyl (meth) acrylate, 2-ethylhexyl (meth) acrylate, 2,2- Dimethyllauryl (meth) acrylate, 2,3-dimethyllauryl (meth) acrylate, 2,2-dimethylstearyl (meth) acrylate, 2,3-dimethylstearyl (meth) acrylate, isolauryl (meth) acrylate, isomyristyl (meta ) Acrylate, isostearyl (meth) acrylate, isobehenyl (meth) acrylate and the like.
(Meth) acrylic resins are homopolymers or copolymers of these (meth) acrylic compounds, or other monomers copolymerizable with (meth) acrylic compounds (for example, acrylamide, styrene, etc.). It may be a copolymer. In addition, since it is a (meth) acrylic-type resin, when other monomers are included, it is made for another monomer to be less than 50 mol% of the monomer component which comprises a copolymer.
The acid value of the (meth) acrylic resin is not particularly limited. For example, the acid value is preferably about 0 to 65, and more preferably about 15 to 40, in order to further improve the brazing property and anti-settling property of the obtained paint. The acid value is adjusted by the content of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid, for example.
The method for synthesizing the (meth) acrylic resin is not particularly limited, and a known method is employed. For example, the monomer component constituting the (meth) acrylic resin may be subjected to radical polymerization using a solvent, a polymerization initiator, a chain transfer agent, or the like as necessary. The polymerization initiator used for radical polymerization is not particularly limited as long as it is a compound that decomposes to generate radicals. Examples thereof include azo initiators and peroxide initiators.
(Meth) acrylic resins may be used alone or in combination of two or more.
The alcohol solvent used in the present invention is not particularly limited as long as it can disperse components contained in the flux containing zinc fluoride. Examples of the alcohol solvent include aliphatic alcohols having 1 to 8 carbon atoms such as methanol, ethanol, propanol, butanol, 3-methoxy-3-methyl-1-butanol (3MMB), and the like. Among these, 3-methoxy-3-methyl-1-butanol is preferable from the viewpoint of safety with low flammability. An alcohol solvent may be used independently and may use 2 or more types together.
The antisettling agent used in the present invention comprises an aliphatic polyol having 3 to 6 carbon atoms, an oligomer of an aliphatic polyol having 2 or 3 carbon atoms, an aliphatic polyol and an aliphatic carboxylic acid. , A monoester having 3 to 7 carbon atoms, and an aliphatic polyol polymer having a weight average molecular weight of 1000 or less. These anti-settling agents are used not only for preventing settling of components in the paint but also for the purpose of hygroscopicity and reaction inhibition.
Examples of aliphatic polyols having 3 to 6 carbon atoms include aliphatic diols and aliphatic triols having 3 to 6 carbon atoms. Examples of the aliphatic diol having 3 to 6 carbon atoms include those in which two hydrogens (H) are substituted with two hydroxyl groups (OH) in an alkane having 3 to 6 carbon atoms. , Propylene glycol (HOCH 2 CH (OH) CH 3 ; carbon number 3), trimethylene glycol (HO (CH 2 ) 3 OH; carbon number 3), 1,4-butanediol (HO (CH 2 ) 4 OH; 4 carbon atoms), 1,3-butane diol (HO (CH 2) 2 CH (OH) CH 3; 4 carbon atoms), 2,3-butanediol (CH 3 CH (OH) CH (OH) CH 3; 4 carbon atoms), pentylene diol having 5 carbon atoms represented by the general formula C 5 H 12 O 2 (for example, 1,5-pentanediol, etc.), 6 carbon atoms having the general formula C 6 H 14 O 2 Hexylene diol (eg 1,6-hex) Njioru, such as 2-methyl-2,4-pentanediol) and the like. Of these, aliphatic diols having 3 or 4 carbon atoms are preferred, and propylene glycol is particularly preferred.
Examples of the aliphatic triol having 3 to 6 carbon atoms include glycerin (carbon number 3), 1,2,4-butanetriol (carbon number 4), and among these, glycerin is preferable.
Examples of the oligomer of the aliphatic polyol having 2 or 3 carbon atoms include oligomers having 4 or 6 carbon atoms, such as diethylene glycol (HO (CH 2 ) 2 O (CH 2 ) 2 OH; Carbon number 4, dimer), dipropylene glycol (CH 3 CH (OH) CH 2 OCH 2 CH (OH) CH 3 ; total carbon number 6, dimer), triethylene glycol (HO (CH 2 ) 2 O (CH 2 ) 2 O (CH 2 ) 2 OH; total carbon number 6, trimer). Of these, diethylene glycol is preferred.
Monoesters of aliphatic polyols and aliphatic carboxylic acids having 3 to 7 carbon atoms as a whole include glyceryl monoacetate (monoester of glycerin and acetic acid; carbon number 5), glyceryl monobutyrate (glycerin). And butyric acid monoester; carbon number 7) and the like. Among these, glyceryl monoacetate is preferable.
Examples of the polymer of the aliphatic polyol having a weight average molecular weight of 1000 or less include polyethylene glycol, polypropylene glycol, polyglycerin and the like having a weight average molecular weight of 1000 or less. Among these, polyethylene glycol having a weight average molecular weight of 1000 or less is preferable.
A polymer of an aliphatic polyol having a weight average molecular weight of 1000 or less has a relatively high viscosity, and an excellent anti-settling property can be obtained by adding a small amount. On the other hand, since the hygroscopic property of the aliphatic polyol decreases as the degree of polymerization increases, an aliphatic polyol having a weight average molecular weight exceeding 1000 is not preferable. In order to compensate for the decrease in hygroscopicity, for example, it is conceivable to increase the amount of addition. However, if the amount of addition is increased, the viscosity of the paint becomes too high, which is a problem in practice.
The anti-settling agent has better hygroscopicity as the number of carbon atoms is smaller, and the hygroscopicity tends to be lower as the number of carbon atoms is larger. Some antisettling agents have low viscosity per se. When the viscosity of such an anti-settling agent itself is originally low, the viscosity of the coating tends to be too low and the anti-settling property itself tends to be poor. Therefore, in the present invention, the above-mentioned specific aliphatic polyol, oligomer thereof, monoester with aliphatic carboxylic acid, and polymer thereof are used.
A specific antisettling agent may be used independently and may use 2 or more types together.
The non-aqueous zinc-based flux paint of the present invention contains each component in any proportion as long as it forms a body as a paint. For example, with respect to 100 parts by mass of (meth) acrylic resin, the flux containing zinc fluoride is contained in an amount of 400 to 10000 parts by mass, preferably 570 to 1900 parts by mass, and the specific anti-settling agent is 10 to 6000 parts by mass, Preferably it contains 50-4000 mass parts.
In particular, the content of the anti-settling agent may be appropriately set according to the number of OH groups in various polyols (or esters thereof), and is 5 to 20% by mass with respect to the total amount of the nonaqueous zinc-based flux paint. It is preferable to be added as follows. The larger the number of OH groups in the anti-settling agent, the smaller the content ratio can be set. Conversely, the smaller the number of OH groups, the larger the content ratio can be set. When the content ratio of the anti-settling agent is less than 5% by mass, the anti-settling property, the hygroscopic property, and the reaction inhibiting property tend to be poor. On the other hand, when the content ratio exceeds 20% by mass, the specific anti-settling agent has a relatively high boiling point, so that drying tends to be insufficient in the drying step after application to the substrate surface. If the drying is insufficient, the subsequent brazing process may be adversely affected.
The non-aqueous zinc-based flux paint of the present invention may contain an additive generally used for such a flux paint as long as the effects of the present invention are not impaired.
The non-aqueous zinc-based flux paint of the present invention is used for brazing forming materials such as an evaporator and a condenser mounted on a vehicle such as an automotive heat exchanger. The appearance of the resulting molded product (such as a heat exchanger for automobiles) is good with no brazing defects or cracks in the coating film.

<Preparation of evaluation sample>
First, with reference to FIG. 1, the manufacturing process of the
The first aluminum
In the sample in which the non-aqueous zinc-based flux paint obtained in Example 16 was applied to the upper surface of the first aluminum

<Evaluation of brazing>
The said
The evaluation criteria for brazeability are as follows.
A + : When the filling length L 3 is 40 mm or more and the brazing property is very good.
A: When the filling length L 3 is 30 mm or more and less than 40 mm and the brazing property is good.
B: When filling length L 3 is less than 30mm or 20 mm.
C: When the filling length L 3 is less than 20 mm and the brazability is insufficient.
(3) Hygroscopicity First, the viscosity of the obtained non-aqueous zinc-based flux paint was measured. Next, 5 parts by mass of water was added to 100 parts by mass of the obtained non-aqueous zinc-based flux coating material and sufficiently stirred. The viscosity was measured immediately after the completion of stirring, and the water absorption was evaluated according to the following criteria based on the viscosity before and after the addition of water. The results are shown in Tables 1 and 2.
<Evaluation criteria>
A + : When the rate of increase in viscosity after adding water is less than 2%, based on the viscosity before adding water.
A: When the rate of increase in viscosity after adding water is 2% or more and less than 5% based on the viscosity before adding water.
B: When the rate of increase in viscosity after adding water is 5% or more and less than 10% based on the viscosity before adding water.
C: When the rate of increase in viscosity after adding water is 10% or more, based on the viscosity before adding water.
(4) Reaction deterrence Normally, water is mixed into the paint and the organic binder is precipitated, and water is mixed into the paint and zinc ions are eluted from the zinc flux and react with carboxyl groups in the organic binder. And the latter requires a longer time. Therefore, in the hygroscopicity test of (3) above, the reaction deterrence was evaluated for the non-water zinc-based flux paint having a good hygroscopicity (A + or A).
After measuring the viscosity in the hygroscopicity test of the above (3), it was left to stand for 1 week in an environment of 23 ° C. and 50% relative humidity. After one week, the inside of the container was visually observed and evaluated according to the following criteria. The results are shown in Tables 1 and 2.
<Evaluation criteria>
A + : When no precipitate was observed.
A: When a precipitate is slightly formed but becomes uniform when gently stirred by hand.
B: A precipitate is formed, and it is not uniform unless mechanically stirred by a dispersing device.
C: When the precipitate has solidified at the bottom of the container.
As shown in Tables 1 and 2, it was found that all of the non-aqueous zinc-based flux paints obtained in Examples 1 to 28 had excellent sedimentation properties, brazing properties, hygroscopic properties, and reaction inhibition properties. On the other hand, the coating materials obtained in Comparative Examples 1 to 6 had poor results in at least one of sedimentation, brazing, hygroscopicity, and reaction inhibition.
