Description
データ記憶システムは一般に、記憶媒体に情報を書込みかつ記憶媒体から情報を読出す記録ヘッドを有する。記録媒体から情報を読出す1つの方法は、磁気抵抗トランスデューサを利用する。磁化された記録媒体がその下で回転すると、電流が磁気抵抗トランスデューサを流される。磁気抵抗トランスデューサの電気抵抗と、したがってトランスデューサの両端電圧とは、記録媒体磁化の変化に応じて変化する。相応して、記録媒体に書込まれた情報を取出すことができる。
一実施例において、装置は、磁気抵抗再生素子と、第1のおよび第2の主シールドと、補助シールドとを含む。磁気抵抗再生素子は、第1のおよび第2の主シールドの間に配置され、補助シールドは、磁気抵抗再生素子と第1のシールドとの間に配置される。別の実施例では、装置は、磁気抵抗再生素子のための複数のシールドの間に配置される複数の磁石を含む。複数の磁石は、磁気抵抗再生素子から任意にずらされる。
図1は、ハードディスクドライブ100の斜視図である。ハードディスクドライブは、一般的な種類のデータ記憶システムである。本開示の実施例はディスクドライブに関して説明されるが、他の種類のデータ記憶システム(たとえばソリッドステートまたは光学データ記憶システム)も本開示の範囲内にあると考えられるべきである。ディスクドライブ100は筐体105を含む。ディスクドライブ100は、さらにディスクまたは記憶媒体110を含む。当業者であれば、ディスクドライブ100は単一のディスクまたは複数のディスクを含むことができることが分かるであろう。媒体110は、中心軸を中心とする媒体の回転を容易にするスピンドルモータアセンブリ115上に載置される。例示的な回転方向が矢印117によって示される。各ディスク面は、ディスクの表面と通じるための記録ヘッドを担持する、対応付けられたスライダ120を有する。各スライダ120は、ヘッドジンバルアセンブリ125によって支持され、さらにアクチュエータアーム130に取付られる。各アクチュエータアーム130は、ボイスコイルモータアセンブリ140によってシャフトを中心にして回転される。ボイスコイルモータアセンブリ140がアクチュエータアーム130を回転させると、スライダ120は、ディスク内径145とディスク外径150との間の経路を移動する。媒体110は、ディスク内径145とディスク外径150との間に多数の同心の記録トラックを例示的に含む。
Claims (3)
- 空気軸受面に沿って配置されるとともに、前記空気軸受面から第1の全長で延在する磁気抵抗再生素子と、
第1のシールドおよび第2のシールドとを備え、前記第1のおよび第2のシールドのそれぞれは、前記空気軸受面に沿って前記磁気抵抗再生素子の互いに対向する側に配置され、前記第1の全長よりも大きい第2の全長で前記空気軸受面から延在し、
さらに、
前記空気軸受面に沿って前記磁気抵抗再生素子と前記第1のシールドとの間に配置され、前記磁気再生素子の長さに沿って均一のバイアス磁場を与える第1の補助シールドと、
前記空気軸受面に沿って前記磁気抵抗再生素子と前記第2のシールドとの間に配置され、前記磁気再生素子の長さに沿って均一のバイアス磁場を与える第2の補助シールドと、
前記第1および第2のシールドの間、かつ前記磁気抵抗再生素子の背部に配置され前記第1および第2の補助シールドを部分的に磁気的に飽和させる磁石を備え、前記第1および第2の補助シールドは、前記第1の全長よりも小さい第3の全長で前記空気軸受面から延在する、装置。 - 前記第1および第2の補助シールドは、前記第1のおよび第2のシールドと同じ材料からなる、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記第1および第2の補助シールドは、前記磁気抵抗再生素子の長さ方向に沿って延在する、請求項1に記載の装置。
