炭素相とケイ素含有種の相とを有するアグリゲート(すなわちCarbon Silica Dual Phase(CSDP)材料)である出発材料を使用することにより本発明の金属酸化物を作製した。この材料は、米国特許第6,709,506B2号に記載の多段法で調製した。

同様に、アッシュシリカの殻を実験用4″流動床反応器中で調製した。約1ポンドの乾燥した造粒出発材料CSDPF−cをこの流動床反応器に装入し、1.45 m3/時の空気流を温度830℃の床で安定させた。床温度を数ヶ所で監視した。炭素相除去の終りに上部床温度が降下し始めると、流動空気はわずか低下した。この流動床法で生成したアッシュシリカの殻材料CE0503は530 m2/gのBETを有し、かつ元の乾燥ペレットの外形を保った白色顆粒の外観を有していた。表Dでこの材料をヒュームドシリカHS−5と比較した。このシリカの殻材料は、ヒュームドシリカHS−5と比べてほぼ200%高いマニュアルDBP吸着数(594 ml/100 g)を有した。このマニュアルDBP油吸着試験は、ASTM−D281−95に従って行った。
親水性シリカの殻に類似したサイズのNanogel 01Nに対して幾つかの比較を行ったが、この製品は親水性シリカの殻とは全く異なり疎水性である。この評価では、環境用途用にその寿命を延ばすための芳香貯留物質としての本発明の殻の使用について検討した。
これらの実験は、殻に「充填」するための技術について検討した。
次の実施例は充填技術を例示し、予想結果の限定に役立てる。
実施例24〜25
実施例2の殻2 gをPolyderm(登録商標)PEPA(イソホロンジイソシアナート/ポリテトラヒドロフランコポリマー)の50%ポリウレタン分散物8 gに加え、振とうにより混合して殻をポリウレタン分散物中に分配した。この混合物をプラスチック製ラップシート上に注ぎ、空気乾燥するに任せた。その所産は、その埋込み殻が容易に匂いで知られる芳香を含有した可撓性ポリウレタンポリマーの透明なフィルムである。さらに一枚の濾紙上に注いだ混合物もまた顕著な芳香を有し、可撓性であり、かつ表面に付着した無数の殻粒子を有していた。この実験は、おそらくポリウレタンフィルム形成材中に一種類の芳香と殻中に別の種類の芳香とを含有することができる新規な環境フレグランス製品を生産するための基盤になる可能性がある。時間が経過するにつれて殻はその芳香を放出してその芳香の特質の段階的変化をひき起すが、その効力および環境への影響を維持するはずである。そのポリマーと殻の分散物の液状の性質のために、これを表面に塗布またはスプレイすることができ、また品物をこの混合物中に浸漬することもできる。

Claims (12)
- 発熱性シリカの製造方法であって、除去可能な鋳型上または該鋳型内にシリカを有する出発材料を準備し、次いで前記除去可能な鋳型を取り除いて前記シリカを得ることを含む方法であって、前記シリカが、0.05〜0.98のS係数を有し、前記出発材料が、少なくとも炭素相とケイ素含有種の相とを含むアグリゲートである、発熱性シリカの製造方法。
- 前記出発材料が、除去可能な鋳型上にコーティングされたシリカである、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記出発材料が、シリカでコーティングしたカーボンブラックである、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記除去可能な鋳型が炭素系材料である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記除去可能な鋳型が炭素材料である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記除去可能な鋳型が主としてコアであり、かつ前記シリカが前記コアを取り巻くか部分的に取り巻くシェルである、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記除去可能な鋳型の前記除去は、前記除去可能な鋳型を取り除くには十分な温度および時間であるが前記シリカを取り除くには不十分な温度および時間、前記出発材料を加熱することにより行なう、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記除去可能な鋳型が、120 m2/g以下のt面積または160 m2/g以上のt面積を有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記出発材料が、99 mL/100 g以下のCDBPまたは105 mL/100 g以上のCDBPを有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記シリカが、0.4〜0.8のS係数を有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記出発材料中の前記シリカが、前記出発材料の0.1〜95重量%を構成する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記シリカを、クロロシラン、アルコキシシラン、アルキルアルコキシシラン、シラザン、シリコーン油、ポリシロキサン、環状ポリシロキサン、またはこれらの組合せで処理することをさらに含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
