Description
The present invention relates to a droplet discharge method and a droplet discharge device.
In recent years, it has been proposed to manufacture a color filter using an ink jet method in which ink is discharged by a droplet discharge head (see, for example, Patent Document 1). In this manufacturing method, a liquid material (droplet) containing a coloring material is discharged from a plurality of nozzles provided in a droplet discharge head that moves relative to the substrate, and the liquid material is disposed (drawn). The arranged liquid material is solidified by drying or the like to form a colored film corresponding to the pixel.
By the way, in the manufacturing method using the inkjet method, for example, as shown in FIG. 9A, slight variations occur in the discharge amount of the liquid material discharged from a plurality of nozzles. If the drawing is performed in a state where the discharge amount of the liquid material varies, streaky shading unevenness may occur in the color filter. Since such streak unevenness is easily visible, the image quality of the image displayed through the color filter is degraded.
Therefore, correction is performed to adjust the drive signal supplied to the droplet discharge head to flatten the discharge amount of the liquid material discharged from each nozzle and reduce the variation in the discharge amount between the nozzles.
However, the following problems remain in the conventional droplet discharge method. That is, if the amount of liquid discharged from this nozzle is changed by adjusting the drive signal for a certain nozzle, the amount of liquid discharged from the nozzle adjacent to this nozzle will also change. Even if is adjusted, as shown in FIG. 9B, it is difficult to flatten and periodicity may remain. For this reason, if the amount of movement for moving the droplet discharge head relative to the substrate in the arrangement direction of the plurality of nozzles coincides with the period of the discharge amount of the liquid material discharged from the nozzles, the remaining slight discharge Since the variation in the amount is emphasized, there is a problem that the discharge amount of the liquid cannot be made uniform. Such streak-like shading unevenness is likely to occur when a plurality of droplet discharge heads are moved at the same time and the period of variation differs between the droplet discharge heads. This is because there is a high possibility that the discharge amount variation period and the movement amount coincide with each other in any one of the plurality of droplet discharge heads.
In addition, since the discharge amount variation does not always have a certain periodicity across the plurality of nozzles constituting the nozzle row, the relative movement amount of the droplet discharge head with respect to the substrate in the nozzle arrangement direction is determined as the variation period. However, there is a problem that the discharge amount of the liquid material cannot be made uniform.
The present invention has been made in view of the above-described conventional problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide a droplet discharge method and a droplet discharge device in which the discharge amount of a liquid material is made more uniform.
The present invention employs the following configuration in order to solve the above problems. That is, a droplet discharge method according to the present invention is a droplet discharge method for discharging a liquid material from a nozzle while moving a droplet discharge head provided with a nozzle row having a plurality of nozzles relative to a substrate. A correction step of correcting the discharge amount of the liquid material discharged from the nozzle, and moving the droplet discharge head by a predetermined distance along a first scanning direction which is a sub-scanning direction with respect to the substrate. And a step of discharging the liquid material while moving the droplet discharge head along the second scanning direction, which is the main scanning direction, with respect to the substrate, and a scanning step of repeating a predetermined number of times, In the correcting step, the discharge amount is adjusted so that the period in the first scanning direction of the moving average of the discharge amount between at least adjacent nozzles in the nozzle row is an even multiple of the predetermined distance. Characterized in that it positive.
The droplet discharge device according to the present invention is a droplet discharge device that discharges a liquid material from the nozzle while moving a droplet discharge head provided with a nozzle row having a plurality of nozzles relative to a substrate. And a correction means for correcting the discharge amount of the liquid material discharged from the nozzle, and a second scanning direction and a second scanning direction in which the droplet discharge head is in the sub-scanning direction with respect to the substrate. A moving mechanism that moves in the scanning direction; and a control unit that controls a repetitive operation of a movement of the droplet discharge head with respect to the substrate by a predetermined distance along the first scanning direction and a movement along the second scanning direction. The correction means is configured such that a period in the first scanning direction of the moving average of the discharge amount between at least the adjacent nozzles in the nozzle row is an even multiple of the predetermined distance. And correcting the ejection amount.
In this invention, the moving average of the discharge amount between at least adjacent nozzles in the nozzle row is set to a cycle that is an even multiple of the predetermined distance in the first scanning direction, thereby more reliably reducing the occurrence of streak density unevenness. it can.
That is, intentionally varying the discharge amount of the liquid material discharged from each nozzle is compared with reducing the variation by making the discharge amount of the liquid material discharged from each nozzle uniform as described above. It is easy. Therefore, by setting the moving average period of the discharge amount of the liquid material discharged from each nozzle to an even multiple of the predetermined distance, the area discharged from the nozzle hitting the peak of the period before moving the predetermined distance in the first scanning direction Is ejected from a nozzle that hits a valley of the cycle after moving a predetermined distance in the first scanning direction. Therefore, by repeating the movement in the first scanning direction, the variation with periodicity is offset and the discharge amount of the liquid material is made uniform. Therefore, it is possible to more reliably suppress the occurrence of streak density unevenness.
Hereinafter, an embodiment of a droplet discharge method and a droplet discharge apparatus according to the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. In each drawing used in the following description, the scale is appropriately changed to make each member a recognizable size.
[Droplet Discharge Device] First, the droplet discharge device in the present embodiment will be described.
As shown in FIG. 1, the droplet discharge device 1 is a device that forms a color filter layer 55 (to be described later) by discharging a liquid material to a predetermined region of a mother substrate (substrate) 51 to be described later by, for example, an ink jet method. The droplet discharge device 1 includes an

The

As shown in FIG. 2A, the
The
Here, for the nozzles at both ends (for example, nozzles N 1 to N 9 and nozzles N 171 to N 180 ) among the plurality of nozzles N 1 to N 180 , the variation in the discharge amount of the liquid material is large. You may not use for discharge.

The
The
As shown in FIG. 2C, the drive element PZ includes a

As shown in FIG. 1, the

The
The
The
Specifically, the
In the rising period t 1 in FIG. 4, the volume of the
The potential V M (intermediate potential) before rising affects the movement amount of the meniscus. FIG 5 (b) as shown in, when to reduce the potential difference V HM close the intermediate voltage V M to the potential V H of the charge state, hardly occurs movement of the meniscus even shorter rise time t 1. For this reason, even if the operation is quickly changed, the discharge amount of the liquid material hardly changes. On the other hand, when the potential difference V HM is increased, the amount of movement of the meniscus increases. Therefore, when the discharge operation is quickly started, the amount of discharge decreases by the amount that the meniscus is drawn.
When the volume fluctuation of the
4 falling period t 3 in affects the liquid material pressure when extruding to the outside from the nozzle N. When the falling period t 3 is short, the pressure increases, when the falling period t 3 is long, the pressure decreases. As shown in FIG. 5D, when the applied pressure is large, the liquid material vigorously jumps out of the nozzle N, so that the discharge amount increases accordingly. Conversely, when the applied pressure is small, the liquid material is extruded slowly, and the discharge amount is reduced accordingly.
As described above, the discharge amount of the liquid material can be corrected by actively using the change in the discharge amount due to the behavior of the meniscus and controlling the drive signal.
[Color Filter] Next, a color filter manufactured using the droplet discharge device 1 configured as described above will be described.
As shown in FIGS. 6A and 6B, the
The panel area CA is arranged in a matrix and has a plurality of drawing

[Droplet Discharge Method] Next, a droplet discharge method using the droplet discharge apparatus 1 configured as described above will be described. In this embodiment, a color filter is manufactured using a droplet discharge method.
First, as shown in FIG. 1, the
Then, the
Subsequently, the liquid material is discharged from the plurality of nozzles N of the
In the correction process described above, the
Therefore, in a region where the liquid material is discharged from the nozzle N having a large discharge amount before the movement, the liquid material is discharged from the nozzle N having a small discharge amount after the movement. Therefore, in each drawing
In this manner, by repeating the relative movement along the main scanning direction and the relative movement of the predetermined distance Y1 along the sub-scanning direction, the

As described above, in the droplet discharge method and the droplet discharge device 1 according to the present embodiment, the discharge amount of the liquid material discharged from each nozzle N is not made uniform to reduce variation, but at least in the nozzle row NA. Since the moving average of the discharge amount between the adjacent nozzles N is set to a period twice as long as the distance Y1, the periodic variation is canceled by repeating the movement in the sub-scanning direction. The discharge amount is made uniform. Therefore, it is possible to more reliably suppress the occurrence of streak density unevenness.
In addition, this invention is not limited to the said embodiment, A various change can be added in the range which does not deviate from the meaning of this invention.
For example, the period of the moving average of the ejection amount is not limited to twice the moving amount as long as it is an even multiple of the moving amount in the sub-scanning direction.
The ejection control unit corrects the ejection amount of each nozzle so that the moving average draws a sine curve, but the period of the moving average is an even multiple of the movement amount in the sub-scanning direction. If the discharge amount variation can be offset before and after, it is not limited to a sine curve.
The droplet discharge device and the droplet discharge method are used for forming a color filter layer in a color filter. For example, a liquid material is applied to a predetermined region on a substrate such as formation of each layer constituting a light emitting layer in an organic EL device. As long as a thin film is formed by discharging, it may be used for other purposes.
The moving mechanism is constituted by a stage moving device and a carriage moving device, but it is sufficient that the droplet discharge head can move relative to the mother substrate, and the carriage moving device can move in the XY plane. Other configurations may be used.
