反応温度は、例えば、−20℃〜150℃の間であるが、好ましくは、0℃〜120℃の間である。脱水剤は、例えば、酢酸無水物、プロピオン酸無水物、トリフルオロ酢酸無水物等の酸無水物を使用することができる。脱水剤の用量は、必要な閉環率をみて定めるが、1モルのポリイミド−ポリアミック酸の再現単位毎に0.01〜20モルの脱水剤を使用するのが好ましい。触媒は、例えば、トリエチルアミン、ピリジン、ジメチルピリジン等の3級アミンを使用することができる。触媒の用量は、1モルの脱水剤の用量毎に0.01モル〜10モル使用するのが好ましい。
液晶を注入した液晶表示パネルを結晶回転法で測定する。
液晶ボックス内で9個の点を測定し、最大値と最小値の差異を変化度の評価とする。プレチルト角の変化度が小さければ小さいほど、安定性に優れていることを示す。
90℃の環境温度で、3Vの直流電を液晶表示素子60Hz、パルス幅60μsecに印加して、液晶表示素子の電圧保持率を測定する。
まず、通電圧において、液晶表示素子の特定位置の透過度と電圧変化を測定する。そして、上記の液晶表示素子を直流電30Vで2時間充電した後、一定の時間放電する。その後、同じ位置で透過度と電圧変化量を測定する。透過度50%の電圧を基準として、基準電圧において透過度の前後の変化量を測定し、さらに、元の透過度で割って、百分率で表示する。透過度の前後の変化量が<5%である場合を優と判定し、>5%である場合を中と判定し、10%より大きい場合を劣と判定する。
ポリマーまたは液晶配向剤を室温で減圧乾燥させてから、乾燥後の固体を重水素化したジメチルスルホキシドの中に溶かす。テトラメチルシランを参考物質として使用し、1H-NMRで測定して、数式(II)からイミド化率を得る。
イミド化率(%)=(1−A1/A2×α)×100 (II)
A2:その他のプロトンに由来するピーク面積
α:その他のプロトンがポリマー前駆体(ポリアミック酸)中のNH基の1つのプロトンに対する数量比
液晶配向剤をITO基板の上に塗布して、ITO基板を100℃で1時間水煮した後、3mの接着テープでクロスカット法(cross cut method)を行う。
固定比率の固体ポリマー(A)と固体ポリマー(B)をγ-ブチロラクトンとN-メチル-2-ピロリドンの混合溶媒中に溶解して、固体成分が6重量%の溶液を製造し、直径1μmの濾過器で濾過した。収集された濾液が、本実施形態の液晶配向剤である。
Claims (6)
- 式(1)で表される側鎖ジアミンを有するポリイミド−ポリアミック酸であるポリマー(A)と、
式(2)で表される側鎖ジアミンを有するポリアミック酸であるポリマー(B)と
を含み、前記ポリマー(A)と前記ポリマー(B)の重量比(A)/(B)が、5/95〜95/5である液晶配向剤であって、
- 前記D1及びD2中の、式(3)または式(4)で表されるジアミンモノマーから得られた二価有機基から選ばれなかった部分は、式(5)〜式(12)から成る群より選んだものであり、
前記D3中の、式(4)で表されるジアミンモノマーから得られた二価有機基から選ばれなかった部分は、式(5)〜式(12)から成る群より選んだものであり、
- 前記ポリマー(A)において、式(3)で表されるジアミンモノマーから得られた二価有機基の含有量が、前記ポリマー(A)が有する二価有機基D1およびD2の総量を0.1モル%〜50モル%とする請求項1または2に記載の液晶配向剤。
- 前記ポリマー(B)において、式(3)で表されるジアミンモノマーから得られた二価有機基の含有量が、前記ポリマー(B)が有する二価有機基D3の総量を0.1モル%〜50モル%とする請求項1から3の何れか1項に記載の液晶配向剤。
- 前記ポリマー(A)において、式(4)で表されるジアミン化合物から得られた二価有機基の含有量が、前記ポリマー(A)が有する二価有機基D1およびD2の総量を5モル%〜50モル%とする請求項1から4の何れか1項に記載の液晶配向剤。
- 前記ポリマー(B)において、式(4)で表されるジアミン化合物から得られた二価有機基の含有量が、ポリマー(B)が有する二価有機基D3の総量を5モル%〜100モル%とする請求項1から5の何れか1項に記載の液晶配向剤。
