Description
本開示は、概して薬剤の送達に関し、より具体的には、エアロゾル装置を用いた薬剤送達のシステムおよび方法に関する。
本出願は、参照により本明細書に組み入れられる、2004年4月2日に提出された米国特許仮出願第60/559,318号の恩典を主張するものである。
本発明は、米国政府の機関であるCenters for Disease Control and Preventionによって行われた。したがって、米国政府が本発明に特定の権利を有する可能性がある。
針および注射器は、患者および患者に薬剤を投与する医療関係者に対し、注射の安全性、針刺し傷害、廃棄の問題、血液伝播性疾患の伝染、および大規模ワクチンキャンペーン中の針の不足など、様々な問題をもたらしている。薬剤の主要な送達手段としての針および注射器を置換すれば、費用を極めて大幅に削減し、安全性を向上させ、生物医学廃棄物を減少できる可能性がある。
本開示は、生物系への進入を得るために針の使用を必要とせずに薬物を送達するための方法およびシステムに関し、このシステムには装置も含む。より具体的には、本開示は、患者への送達用に薬剤をエアロゾル化または噴霧化するための方法およびシステムに関する。例えば、そのようなシステムおよび方法は、医薬品、化学療法剤、免疫剤、およびワクチンなどの薬剤の送達に用いてもよい。
本明細書において、名詞の単数形「1つの(a)」、「1つの(an)」、および「その(the)」は、そうでないことを文脈が明確に示しているのでない限り、1つかまたは1つより多いことを意味する。
Claims (32)
- ユーザーの手で保持されるためのサイズおよび形状であるハウジング;
該ハウジングに連結され、かつエアロゾル化された薬剤を吐出することができる、使い捨て可能なエアロゾル化エレメントであって、チャンバを規定するボディと、該ボディ内に規定されかつ該チャンバと連絡する薬剤放出オリフィスと、該薬剤放出オリフィスの反対側に位置決めされた可動部とを含む、該エアロゾル化エレメント;ならびに
該ハウジング内に配置され、かつ該エアロゾル化エレメントの該チャンバからの薬剤をエアロゾル化するため該使い捨てエアロゾル化エレメントの該可動部に震え振動を作用させるように位置決めされたアクチュエータであって、圧電素子と、該可動部が該オリフィスに向かって動き該チャンバ内の薬剤が該オリフィスを通じて吐出されることを引き起こすように該圧電素子の震動を該可動部へと伝達するよう動作可能である動き伝達部品とを含む、該アクチュエータ
を含み、
該使い捨てエアロゾル化エレメントが装填と廃棄のためにハウジングから取り外し可能であり、
該エアロゾル化エレメントが、薬剤が該動き伝達部品および該圧電素子に接触することを防ぐとともに患者から呼息された粒子と汚染物質が該動き伝達部品および該圧電素子に接触することを防ぐように構成される
、エアロゾル化装置。 - ハウジングに連結され、かつ使い捨て エアロゾル化エレメントから吐出されたエアロゾル化された薬剤を患者に送達するための形状である、患者インターフェース
をさらに含む、請求項1記載の装置。 - 動き伝達部品が、エアロゾル化エレメントの可動部に接着固定された端面を有する、請求項1記載の装置。
- 片側が動き伝達部品の端面に接着固定されもう片側が可動部に接着固定された両面接着テープによって、該動き伝達部品が該可動部に接着固定されている、請求項3記載の装置。
- 可動部が変形可能であり、かつ、震動が該可動部に伝達されるとチャンバ内の圧力を上昇させるように該可動部が変形しこれにより該チャンバからオリフィスを介して薬剤を吐出させる、請求項1記載のエアロゾル化エレメント。
- 可動部が可撓性ダイヤフラムを含む、請求項5記載のエアロゾル化エレメント。
- ボディがリヤ壁を含み、該リヤ壁が可撓性ダイヤフラムに隣接する開口部を含み、かつ動き伝達部品が該リヤ壁の該開口部を通って延びる、請求項6記載のエアロゾル化エレメント。
- エアロゾル化された薬剤を患者へ送達することを助けるため、装置に圧縮空気を供給するよう構成された圧縮空気源をさらに含む、請求項1記載の装置。
- 圧縮空気源により運搬される空気の一部が、アクチュエータの冷却用に誘導される、請求項8記載の装置。
- エアロゾル化された薬剤を患者インターフェースを介して送達することを助けるため、大気が装置内に進入できるように位置決めされたエアインレットホールをさらに含む、請求項2記載の装置。
- 使い捨てエアロゾル化エレメントが、チャンバを薬剤で充填することを助けるためチャンバ内部に陰圧を生じさせる目的でユーザーが手で圧搾できる可撓性部分によって少なくとも部分的に規定される内部チャンバを有する、請求項1記載の装置。
- 1つまたは複数の電池を含む装置用の動力源をさらに含む、請求項1記載の装置。
- パック内に配置されたエアポンプと、該エアポンプをハウジングに流体的に接続するエアコンジットとをさらに含み、エアロゾル化された薬剤を患者へ送達することを助けるため該エアポンプが該ハウジングに圧縮空気を供給するよう動作可能な、請求項12記載の装置。

- 患者インターフェースが、該患者インターフェースを通る使い捨てエアロゾル化エレメントから患者へのフローを許容し、かつ該患者インターフェースを通る逆方向のフローを抑制するように動作可能な一方向弁を含む、請求項2記載の装置。
- 一方向弁がダックビル弁を含む、請求項16記載の装置。
- 患者インターフェースが、呼息された粒子から使い捨てエアロゾル化エレメントを遮蔽する1つまたは複数のバッフルを含む、請求項2記載の装置。
- 患者インターフェースが鼻用プロングである、請求項2記載の装置。
- 装置により投与された用量の数を記録するように動作可能な計数装置をさらに含む、請求項1記載の装置。
- 薬剤がエアロゾル化エレメントによりエアロゾル化される速度を検出するように動作可能なエアロゾル化速度モニターをさらに含む、請求項1記載の装置。
- エアロゾル化速度モニターが、エアロゾル化エレメントにより吐出されるエアロゾル小滴を通って伸びる光線を投射するように動作可能な光源と、該エアロゾル小滴により生じた該光線の不明瞭化を検出するように動作可能な光検出器とを含む、請求項21記載の装置。
- エアロゾル化速度モニターがコントローラと視覚表示器とを含み、該コントローラが光検出器からの信号を受け取りかつ該信号に基づいてエアロゾル化速度を測定し、かつ該視覚表示器が該エアロゾル化速度に関する視覚表示を提供する、請求項22記載の装置。
- エアロゾル化エレメントが第一のおよび第二の反射面を含み、該第一の反射面が、光源からの光線を、エアロゾル小滴を通る第一の方向に伸びるように反射するよう位置決めされ、該第二の反射面が、該エアロゾル小滴を通って伸びる該光線を、光検出器に向かう第二の方向に伸びるように反射するよう位置決めされる、請求項22記載の装置。
- 薬剤の供給源から患者インターフェースまでの流体経路が実質的にエアロゾル化エレメントの内部に含まれる、請求項2記載の装置。
- 薬剤の供給源がエアロゾル化エレメントの内部に含まれる、請求項25記載の装置。
- エアロゾル化エレメントが、薬剤の供給源に直接接続するための形状である、請求項25記載の装置。
- エアロゾル化エレメントが、少なくとも一回の用量を患者に提供するための薬剤の体積であらかじめ充填される、請求項1記載の装置。
- 薬剤の体積が、複数の単回用量を送達するのに十分である、請求項28記載の装置。
- エアロゾル化エレメントに直接連結するための、薬剤を含むバイアルをさらに含む、請求項1記載の装置。
- エアロゾル化エレメントのチャンバ内に配置され、かつオリフィスと可動部との間の該チャンバ内に最小限の間隔を保つよう構成された突起をさらに含む、請求項1記載の装置。
