Claims (16)
- 水平期間が第1期間ないし第5期間に分割されて駆動される有機電界発光表示装置であって、
水平ライン毎に1本以上形成される走査線及び発光制御線を駆動するための走査駆動部と、
前記水平期間1H毎に出力線の各々にj(jは2以上の自然数)個のデータ信号を順次供給するためのデータ駆動部と、
前記出力線の各々に接続され、前記j個のデータ信号をj本の第1データ線に伝達するためのデマルチプレクサと、
前記走査線と、前記走査線と交差する方向に形成された第2データ線との交差部に位置する画素と、
前記第1データ線と前記第2データ線との間にそれぞれ接続され、外部から供給される基準電源の電圧及び初期電源の電圧と前記データ信号を用いて前記画素に接続された前記第2データ線の電圧を制御するための共通回路部と、
前記デマルチプレクサ及び前記共通回路部を制御するためのスイッチング制御部と、を備え、
前記基準電源の電圧は、ブラック階調を表現するためのブラックデータ信号の電圧より低い電圧に設定され、
前記共通回路部の各々は、
前記第1データ線と第2データ線との間に接続される第1キャパシタと、
前記第1データ線と前記基準電源との間に接続され、前記スイッチング制御部から第1制御信号が供給されたときにターンオンされる第1共通トランジスタと、
前記第2データ線と前記初期電源との間に接続され、前記スイッチング制御部から第2制御信号が供給されたときにターンオンされる第2共通トランジスタとを備えることを特徴とする有機電界発光表示装置。 - 前記デマルチプレクサは、
前記出力線と前記j本の第1データ線との間に接続されるように位置し、前記スイッチング制御部から供給されるj個の制御信号に対応して順次ターンオンされるj個のトランジスタを備えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。 - 前記j個の制御信号は、前記水平期間の第5期間に順次供給されることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記スイッチング制御部は、
前記水平期間毎に前記第1制御信号及び第2制御信号を同時に供給し、前記第2制御信号を前記第1制御信号より長い時間の間供給することを特徴とする請求項2に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。 - 前記スイッチング制御部は、
前記水平期間の第1期間に前記第1制御信号を供給し、前記水平期間の第1期間ないし第4期間の間に前記第2制御信号を供給することを特徴とする請求項4に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。 - 前記スイッチング制御部は、
前記水平期間毎に前記デマルチプレクサを制御するための前記j個の制御信号を前記第1制御信号及び第2制御信号と重畳しないように供給することを特徴とする請求項4に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。 - 前記水平ライン毎に、第1走査線、第2走査線、及び前記発光制御線が形成されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。
- 前記走査駆動部は、
前記第1走査線に第1走査信号を順次供給し、前記第2走査線に第2走査信号を順次供給し、前記発光制御線に発光制御信号を順次供給することを特徴とする請求項7に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。 - 前記画素の各々は、
カソード電極が第2電源に接続される有機発光ダイオードと、
第1電極が第1電源に接続され、前記有機発光ダイオードに供給される電流量を制御するための第2トランジスタと、
前記第2トランジスタのゲート電極と前記第2データ線との間に接続され、前記第2走査線に前記第2走査信号が供給されたときにターンオンされる第1トランジスタと、
前記第2トランジスタのゲート電極と第2電極との間に接続され、前記第1走査線に前記第1走査信号が供給されたときにターンオンされる第3トランジスタと、
前記第2トランジスタと前記有機発光ダイオードのアノード電極との間に接続され、前記発光制御線に発光制御信号が供給されたときにターンオフされる第4トランジスタと、を備えることを特徴とする請求項8に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。 - 前記初期電源は、
前記第1電源の電圧から前記第2トランジスタの閾値電圧の絶対値を減じた電圧より低い電圧に設定されることを特徴とする請求項9に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。 - 前記走査駆動部は、
前記水平期間の第2期間ないし第5期間に前記第2走査信号を供給し、前記水平期間の第3期間に前記第1走査信号を供給することを特徴とする請求項8に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。 - 前記走査駆動部は、
少なくとも2つの第2走査信号と重畳するように前記発光制御信号を供給することを特徴とする請求項8に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。 - 前記データ駆動部は、
前記水平期間の第5期間に前記j個のデータ信号を順次供給することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の有機電界発光表示装置。 - データ信号が供給される第1データ線と、画素に接続された第2データ線との間に接続される第1キャパシタと、第1電源から有機発光ダイオードを経由して第2電源に流れる電流量を制御する駆動トランジスタとを備えた画素を備える有機電界発光表示装置の駆動方法であって、
前記第1データ線に基準電源の電圧を供給し、前記第2データ線に初期電源を供給するステップと、
前記第1データ線に基準電源の電圧を供給しながら、前記第2データ線を前記画素に備えられた駆動トランジスタのゲート電極に接続させるステップと、
前記第1データ線に基準電源の電圧を供給しながら、前記駆動トランジスタをダイオード形態で接続し、前記第2データ線の電圧を、前記第1電源の電圧から前記駆動トランジスタの閾値電圧の絶対値を減じた電圧に上昇させるステップと、
前記第1データ線にデータ信号を供給して前記駆動トランジスタのゲート電極の電圧を変化させるステップと、を含み、
前記基準電源の電圧は、ブラック階調を表現するためのブラックデータ信号の電圧より低い電圧に設定されることを特徴とする有機電界発光表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記初期電源は、前記第1電源の電圧から前記駆動トランジスタの閾値電圧の絶対値を減じた電圧より低い電圧に設定されることを特徴とする請求項14に記載の有機電界発光表示装置の駆動方法。
- 前記駆動トランジスタのゲート電極の電圧を変化させるステップの間、前記駆動トランジスタは、ダイオード形態で接続されないことを特徴とする請求項14に記載の有機電界発光表示装置の駆動方法。
