Description
The present invention relates to an organic EL (electroluminescence) element provided with a sealing film and a method for producing the organic EL element.
Currently, an organic EL element having an organic light emitting layer is known. The organic light emitting layer is vulnerable to moisture and oxygen. For this reason, a sealing film for blocking moisture and oxygen and protecting the organic light emitting layer has been proposed.
As sealing films for protecting the organic light emitting layer, organic substances such as resins are known. However, when the sealing film is made of resin, there is a problem that moisture and oxygen are not sufficiently shielded.
However, in the organic EL element of
The present invention has been made in order to solve the above-described problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide an organic EL element capable of suppressing deterioration of an organic light emitting layer and a method for manufacturing the organic EL element.
In order to achieve the above object, an invention according to
The invention described in
The invention according to
In the present invention, a resin flattening film having a taper portion extending toward the substrate side is formed so as to cover the organic light emitting layer. Thereby, the unevenness | corrugation formed with the organic light emission and the 2nd electrode by the planarization film | membrane can be reduced. Further, the tapered portion is inclined to a region in contact with the first electrode or the substrate. As a result, since the discontinuity of the sealing film formed on the upper surface of the planarizing film can be suppressed, deterioration of the organic light emitting layer can be suppressed.

FIG. 3 is a diagram for explaining the inclination of the tapered portion of the planarizing film.
In the following description, XYZ shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 is defined as an XYZ direction. Further, the + Z direction is the upward direction, and the −Z direction is the downward direction. 1 is a cross-sectional view taken along line II in FIG.
As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the
The
The
The
The
正孔輸送層は、約50nmの厚みを有するNPD(ジフェニルナフチルジアミン)膜からななる。
The organic
The
The flattening
As shown in FIG. 1, a tapered

Next, the operation of the

Next, a method for manufacturing the
First, as shown in FIG. 4, a
Next, as shown in FIG. 5, a resist
Next, as shown in FIG. 6, the organic
Next, as shown in FIG. 7, a
Next, as shown in FIG. 8, an epoxy-based
Next, as shown in FIG. 9, a
Next, after making the
Next, the

Next, as shown in FIGS. 12 to 15, the case where the
First, as shown in FIGS. 12 and 13, when the organic
Next, as shown in FIG. 14, the
Next, as shown in FIG. 15, the sealing
As described above, the
Moreover, in the
Further, in the
Moreover, in the
(Second Embodiment)
Next, 2nd Embodiment which changed the organic EL element of 1st Embodiment partially is described with reference to drawings. FIG. 16 is a cross-sectional view of an organic EL element according to the second embodiment. In addition, the same code | symbol is attached | subjected to the structure similar to embodiment mentioned above, and description is abbreviate | omitted.
As shown in FIG. 16, the
The
Since the

(Experiment)
Next, an experiment performed to prove the effect of the above-described embodiment will be described.
(First experiment)
Next, experimental results of the first example having the same configuration as that of the second embodiment having the buffer layer will be described. In this experiment, a first comparative example and a second comparative example were produced as samples for comparison with the first example. The first comparative example has the same configuration as the first example except that the planarizing film and the sealing film are omitted. The second comparative example has the same configuration as the first example except that the planarizing film is omitted. In addition, the area of the light emitting surface of the first example, the first and second comparative examples was formed in a square shape with a side of 2 mm.
Each of these samples was allowed to stand at room temperature, and the light emission state after a predetermined time was examined. In the first example, the light emission state after 72 hours was examined. In each comparative example, the light emission state after 64 hours was examined.
In the first example, neither reduction of the light emitting area nor enlargement of the dark spot progressed. On the other hand, in the first comparative example, one side of the light emitting surface was reduced by about 0.12 mm, and the diameter of the dark spot was increased by about 0.12 mm. In the second comparative example, although the reduction of the light emitting area did not proceed, the diameter of the dark spot increased by about 0.1 mm.
From these results, it can be seen that in the first embodiment according to the present invention, the moisture and oxygen barrier properties can be improved and the deterioration of the organic light emitting layer can be suppressed.
Furthermore, the first example and the first comparative example described above were left in an atmosphere of about 60 ° C. containing about 90% humidity.
As a result, in the first comparative example, peeling of the organic light emitting layer and the cathode occurred after 40 hours in the above atmosphere. As a result, the first comparative example was unable to emit light. On the other hand, in the first example, even after 240 hours passed in the above atmosphere, almost no change from the initial light emission state was observed. From this result, it was found that the first example can sufficiently suppress the deterioration of the organic light emitting layer even under high humidity and high temperature conditions.
As mentioned above, although this invention was demonstrated in detail using embodiment, this invention is not limited to embodiment described in this specification. The scope of the present invention is determined by the description of the claims and the scope equivalent to the description of the claims. Hereinafter, modified embodiments in which the above-described embodiment is partially modified will be described.
The material, shape, numerical value, manufacturing process, and the like of each configuration described above can be changed as appropriate.
For example, the planarizing film may be made of other resin. When the planarizing film is made of a thermoplastic resin, a resin that cures at room temperature (about 25 ° C.) and has fluidity at a high temperature (about 90 ° C.) is preferable. The thickness of the planarizing film is preferably several μm to several tens of μm (for example, 3 μm to 40 μm).
The sealing film may be made of an inorganic material such as AlN, SiO 2 , SiN. Note that since the sealing film is required to be dense from the viewpoint of shielding properties such as moisture and oxygen, a material that can be formed by a sputtering method, a CVD method, a PVD method, or the like is preferable. The sealing film preferably has a thickness of several hundred nm.
The buffer layer may be made of an insulating material such as MoO 3 that can be formed by resistance heating vapor deposition.
Further, the sealing plate may be constituted by a metal plate or the like.
