Description
The present invention relates to a technique for printing an image by discharging ink.
In an ink jet printer, ink ejection failure may occur due to air bubbles mixed in the ink flow path. More specifically, when air bubbles are mixed into a part of a mechanism for ejecting ink, such as a piezo element, and a flow path on the downstream side of the mechanism, the air bubbles are only compressed and ink is not ejected. there is a possibility.
In order to solve such a problem, in the technique of
In the ink jet recording apparatus disclosed in
Furthermore, in the
However, in the technique of
Such a problem is not limited to an ink jet printer, and may occur widely in a liquid processing apparatus that supplies liquid and discharges it from a nozzle.
The present invention has been made to deal with at least a part of the above-described problems, and an object of the present invention is to prevent liquid discharge failure due to bubbles with a simple configuration.
In order to achieve the above object, one aspect of the present invention employs the following configuration in an ink cartridge for supplying ink to a printing apparatus. The ink cartridge includes a connection portion that is connected to an ink flow path of the printing apparatus, supplies ink to the printing apparatus, a storage section that stores ink, and an ink flow path that distributes ink from the storage section to the connection section. Prepare. And the structure which comprises an ink flow path has a recessed part in the inner surface part which forms the outer periphery of an ink flow path, and is located in the upper side in the state in which the ink cartridge was attached to the printing apparatus.
In such an embodiment, the bubbles in the ink flow path are accommodated in the upper concave portion. The recess may be large enough to accommodate the bubbles until the ink cartridge is replaced. For this reason, unlike the mode in which bubbles are trapped on the printing apparatus side, the apparatus (ink cartridge) can be configured so that the air accommodated in the recesses does not overflow the volume beyond the recesses. Therefore, ink ejection failure due to bubbles can be prevented with a simple configuration.
In addition, it is preferable that at least a part of the concave portion is provided at a position located on the connection portion in a state where the ink cartridge is attached to the printing apparatus.
In such an embodiment, the ink flows toward the lower connecting portion, whereas the bubbles having a specific gravity lower than that of the ink are directed upward. For this reason, it is possible to effectively separate the flow of bubbles to be accommodated in the recesses and the flow of ink to be supplied to the printing apparatus. Therefore, in such an aspect, there is a low possibility that bubbles will flow out from the connecting portion to the tip (printing apparatus).
Further, the structure constituting the ink flow path is an inclined part constituting a part of the recess, and the depth of the recess increases toward the downstream in the ink flow direction from the storage part to the connection part in the ink flow path. It is preferable to have an inclined portion provided so as to be deep.
With such an embodiment, bubbles carried along the ink flow can be effectively guided to the recesses along the inclined portion. Note that the phrase “the more downstream the ink flows from the storage part toward the connection part in the ink flow path” does not mean that the ink actually flows below the inclined part. That is, the description “in the ink flow path, the downstream of the ink flow flowing from the storage portion toward the connection portion” is a description having only the intention of explaining the shape of the inclined portion using the ink flow. .
In addition, it is preferable that the structure which comprises an ink flow path has a groove part extended in the direction which goes to a connection part from a storage part in an inner surface part.
With such an embodiment, even when bubbles grow and block most of the ink flow path, ink can be supplied from the storage portion to the printing apparatus via the groove portion. In addition, the description “extends in the direction from the storage part toward the connection part” is for describing the direction in which the groove part extends, and means that both ends of the groove part reach the storage part and the storage part, respectively. It is not a thing.
According to another aspect of the present invention, there is provided a printing apparatus including a cartridge mounting portion that can replace the ink cartridge described above and a print head that includes a nozzle that is supplied with ink from the ink cartridge and discharges ink. It can also be adopted.
The present invention can be realized in various forms. For example, an ink cartridge, a printing apparatus including the ink cartridge, a printing system including such a printing apparatus, and a predetermined liquid are accommodated. The present invention can be realized in the form of a liquid cartridge, a liquid supply device including the liquid cartridge, a liquid supply system including such a liquid supply device, and the like.

The
The
The connecting

Bubbles can be mixed into the ink in the
When the ink is ejected from the nozzles of the
Ink flows downward from the
Bubbles have a lower specific gravity than ink. For this reason, the bubbles Bb once accommodated in the
Further, the
On the other hand, bubbles are usually formed round. For this reason, it is considered that the bubble Bb is rounded even when it grows in the ink flow path 16 (see Bb indicated by a broken line in FIG. 2). On the other hand, the
B. Second embodiment:
In the first embodiment, the
FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view of the vicinity of the end of the
The
The inner surface of the
The
The
