Description
The present invention relates to an optical scanning device, an image forming apparatus, an optical scanning method control method, a control program, a recording medium, and a manufacturing method, and in particular, a joint of light emitting element arrays in a light emitting element head composed of a plurality of light emitting element arrays. Regarding processing.
An optical writing apparatus that forms a latent image by irradiating light to a photoconductor includes a laser diode (LD) scanning method using laser light and a light emitting element such as an LED arranged in an array. Some employ an array scanning method. This light emitting element array scanning method has high reliability because there is no movable part like a polygon mirror in the LD scanning method. In addition, wide-width machines that perform large-size print output such as A0 size can implement a light-emitting element array scanning method by placing an LED head that integrates an LED array and optical elements such as a SELFOC lens. Since an optical space for scanning the light beam in the direction becomes unnecessary, the LD scanning method has been replaced with the light emitting element array scanning method in order to reduce the size of the entire apparatus.
In addition, when a wide light emitting device array unit that is larger than the image writing width (maximum document width) is used in a wide-width machine that performs large size print output, the number of LED device driver ICs to be used increases and the production yield increases. Will fall. Furthermore, since the light emitting element array unit is long, it is necessary to increase the component accuracy in order to maintain the alignment accuracy of the writing beam, and the component unit price is higher than that of a small printer or copying machine. In addition, when the light emitting element fails even for one dot, it is necessary to replace the unit. However, since the light emitting element array unit is long, the yield is poor compared to the LED heads of normal A3 or A4 size. This also contributes to an increase in the unit price.
Therefore, in the conventional optical writing apparatus, a plurality of light emitting element array units for a low-priced small-sized printer or copying machine are arranged in the main scanning direction to satisfy the image writing width in a wide-width machine (for example, Patent Document 1). reference). Here, two or three LED heads are arranged along the axis of the photosensitive member, and divided exposure is performed. In order to deal with the A0 width, three LED heads for the A3 width may be arranged in a so-called staggered pattern in the main scanning direction, but a specific control method is not described.
Further, when a plurality of light emitting element array units are arranged in the main scanning direction and divided exposure is performed, the image data is transferred separately for each of the plurality of light emitting element array units. In some cases, the light amount of the light emitting element at the division position is adjusted in order to prevent streaky density unevenness caused by narrowing or widening of the dot interval at the overlapping seam position (see, for example, Patent Document 2). Here, when the light emission of one dot is multi-value of 5 bits (32 values), the light amount of the light emitting element at the joint position is controlled by changing the light amount gradation of 32 steps. With such tone control for each dot, the light amount can be adjusted so that there is no unevenness in the amount of white and black streaks at the joint position, that is, the unevenness in the pitch of the light emitting elements caused by the assembly accuracy at the joint position. .
However, even when the methods disclosed in
The present invention has been made in consideration of the above-described situation, and in a light emitting element head configured by connecting a plurality of light emitting element arrays, it is preferable to adjust the exposure intensity of the light emitting elements arranged at the joint of the light emitting element arrays.
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1 is a block diagram illustrating the overall configuration of the image forming apparatus according to the present embodiment. The
The
Next, the configuration of the
Next, the process up to recording paper will be described with reference to FIG. The
The toner contained in the developing
Next, the flow of image signals from the
Next, each block of the LED
Here, the PKDE and PKDO signals are binary image signals of even pixels (EVEN) and odd pixels (ODD), respectively. The CLKA signal is a signal for supplying an operation clock for the
Next, the first image
Further, in the processing of the second line data (

また、第2画像データRAM部514は、A群SRAM(SRAM514a〜SRAM514c)とB群SRAM(SRAM514d〜SRAM514f)とに分けられる。
Next, the second image
The image signals sequentially stored in the
Next, the image data delay
In order to correct the mechanical deviation of the
The field memory 515c functions as an image signal delay unit of the

In such an image forming apparatus, the gist of the present embodiment is that the LED elements (seams) arranged at the joints of the
First, the
In the extraction of the pixels for forming the joint matrix, the pixels on both sides of the joints P and Q and the pixels adjacent to one of the pixels are extracted. The position of the joint pixel in the image data of one line in the main scanning direction is registered in advance in the
The
Pixels b2 and c2 illustrated in FIG. 5A are pixels disposed on both sides of the joint P. In other words, the pixels b2 and c2 are pixels corresponding to the ends in the main scanning direction in the
After extracting the joint matrix, the
Here, the degree of pixel overlap will be described. As shown in FIG. 5A, the
Here, with reference to FIG. 6 and FIG. 7, a method of determining the degree of overlap by test pattern output will be described. In the test pattern output, the
When such a test pattern is output, if the joint pixels do not overlap, a white line (white stripe) for one pixel should appear at the joint portion between the
Returning to FIG. 4, the description of the lighting duty ratio determination operation by the
Next, a method for determining the lighting duty ratio will be described with reference to FIGS. FIG. 8A shows a case where the seam pixel overlap degree is 0%. As shown in FIG. 8A, when the overlap degree of the joint pixels is 0%, when the dot diameter of one pixel is D, the interval (horizontal dot interval) A between the target pixel c2 and the pixel a2 is expressed by the following equation. In (1), the interval (oblique dot interval) B between the target pixel c2 and the pixel a1 or a3 is expressed by the following formula (2).
FIG. 8B shows a case where the seam overlap degree is N%. The horizontal dot A N and the diagonal dot interval B N are expressed by the following equations (3) and (4), respectively.
The lighting duty ratio X is determined by calculation based on the reference value 15 (%) and the inter-pixel distance. The lighting DUTY ratio X 1 when the pattern value is 1 can be expressed by the following equation (5).
The lighting DUTY ratio X 2 in the case of the
FIG. 9 shows a lighting DUTY ratio table obtained for each joint overlap degree and joint matrix pattern as a result of such calculation. The DUTY ratio table calculated in this way is stored in the
Next, driving of the
In the second data transfer, the
As described above, the light scanning method according to the present embodiment makes it possible to suitably adjust the exposure intensity of the LED elements arranged at the joints of the
In the above description, the binary image forming apparatus in which one pixel is white / black has been described as an example. However, the present invention is applied to an image forming apparatus in which one pixel outputs a gray scale having a plurality of gradations. It is also possible. In the case of an image forming apparatus in which one pixel outputs a plurality of gradations, in addition to adjusting the lighting DUTY ratio of the LED element as described above, the exposure intensity can be adjusted by changing the gradations as described above. It is possible to obtain the effect. In the above description, the example in which the image data output is divided into three times as shown in FIG. 10 has been described. However, if the lighting DUTY ratio can be adjusted for each LED element, the data can be transferred once. It is also possible to execute. Further, if the present invention is applied to an image forming apparatus having a plurality of position pixels, it can be realized once by gradation control.
具体的には、ROM(Read Only Memory)やEEPROM(Electrically Erasable Programmable ROM)並びに磁気ディスクや光学ディスク等の不揮発性記録媒体に格納されたファームウェア等の制御プログラムが、DRAM(Dynamic Random Access Memory)等の揮発性メモリ(以下、メモリ)にロードされ、CPU(Central Processing Unit)の制御に従って構成されるソフトウェア制御部と集積回路などのハードウェアとによって構成されても良い。

In the above description, the example in which the exposure intensity of the pixel c and the pixel d corresponding to the
In the above description, as shown in FIGS. 5B and 5C, an example in which 3 × 3 pixels are referred to as a joint matrix has been described. However, pattern matching is performed by referring to more pixels. You can go. In particular, it is possible to determine whether or not the pixel c is an isolated pixel by referring to a pixel adjacent to the pixel c in the
On the other hand, for example in which the 3 × 3 pixels are referred to, only one
Further, pattern matching of two main scanning lines and three pixels may be performed. In the case of performing pattern matching of two main scanning lines and three pixels, in addition to the main scanning lines (lines corresponding to the pixels a2 to f2) to be driven shown in FIG. Pattern matching can be performed based on a line corresponding to a1 to f1) or a subsequent main scanning line (a line corresponding to pixels a3 to f3). Even in such a case, the number of SRAMs 550a to 550f included in the first image
Further, in the above description, an example in which pattern matching is performed by defining exclusive patterns such as
In the above description, an example in which a black or high density image is formed by exposing the
6 and 7, the joint pixel c of the
