前記表示パネルの上に配置され、前記表示画素の光出力を誘導して、立体画像を提供するレンズ素子の配列であって、前記レンズ素子は、電気光学材料を有し、電場の選択的な印加により、光出力誘導機能を維持する第1の値と、前記光出力誘導機能を排除する第2の値の間で、前記電気光学材料の屈折率が切り替えられる、レンズ素子の配列と、
前記レンズ素子の上部および下部に設置され、前記レンズ素子に前記電場を印加する電極層であって、該電極層の少なくとも一つは、不連続である、電極層と、
を有し、
前記電極層は、誘電体層により、前記レンズ素子から離間され、
前記レンズ素子内の前記電場に対する、前記電極層の不連続性の影響が抑制されることを特徴とする切り替え可能な自動立体表示装置が提供される。
Claims (18)
- 切り替え可能な自動立体表示装置であって、
表示を構成する表示画素の配列を有する表示パネルであって、前記表示画素は、行および列に配置される、表示パネルと、
前記表示パネルの上に配置され、前記表示画素の光出力を誘導して、立体画像を提供するレンズ素子の配列であって、前記レンズ素子は、電気光学材料を有し、電場の選択的な印加により、光出力誘導機能を維持する第1の値と、前記光出力誘導機能を排除する第2の値の間で、前記電気光学材料の屈折率が切り替えられる、レンズ素子の配列と、
前記レンズ素子の上部および下部に設置され、前記レンズ素子に前記電場を印加する電極層であって、該電極層の少なくとも一つは、不連続である、電極層と、
を有し、
前記両電極層は、誘電体層により、前記レンズ素子から離間され、これにより、前記レンズ素子内の前記電場に対する、前記電極層の不連続性の影響が抑制され、
前記両電極層と前記レンズ素子の間の最小間隔は、少なくとも20μmであることを特徴とする切り替え可能な自動立体表示装置。 - 両方の電極層が不連続であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の切り替え可能な自動立体表示装置。
- 各電極層は、隙間により分離された複数の別個の電極を有することを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の切り替え可能な自動立体表示装置。
- 各電極層は、複数の平行な細長い電極を有し、前記異なる層の前記電極は、相互に対して垂直に延伸することを特徴とする請求項3に記載の切り替え可能な自動立体表示装置。
- 各電極層と前記レンズ素子の間の最小間隔は、前記電極層の隣接する電極同士の間の隙間の幅の1から10倍であることを特徴とする請求項3または4に記載の切り替え可能な自動立体表示装置。
- 前記誘電体層の第1および第2のものは、それぞれ、プロファイル化された前記レンズ素子の実質的に平坦な表面と面することを特徴とする請求項1乃至5のいずれか一つに記載の切り替え可能な自動立体表示装置。
- 前記第1の誘電体層は、前記レンズ素子の前記プロファイル化された表面と適合する、プロファイル化された表面を有することを特徴とする請求項6に記載の切り替え可能な自動立体表示装置。
- 前記第2の誘電体層は、前記レンズ素子の前記実質的に平坦な表面と適合する、実質的に平坦な表面を有することを特徴とする請求項6または7に記載の切り替え可能な自動立体表示装置。
- 前記第1および/または第2の誘電体層は、光学的に透明な絶縁体を有することを特徴とする請求項1乃至8のいずれか一つに記載の切り替え可能な自動立体表示装置。
- 前記レンズ素子の配列は、平行なレンズ状(lenticular)レンズ素子の配列を有することを特徴とする請求項1乃至9のいずれか一つに記載の切り替え可能な自動立体表示装置。
- 前記電気光学材料は、液晶材料を有することを特徴とする請求項1乃至10のいずれか一つに記載の切り替え可能な自動立体表示装置。
- 前記電極層は、インジウムスズ酸化物を有することを特徴とする請求項1乃至11のいずれか一つに記載の切り替え可能な自動立体表示装置。
- さらに、制御器を有し、
該制御器は、前記電極層に電位を選択的に印加するように配置され、前記レンズ素子に前記電場が印加されることを特徴とする請求項1乃至12のいずれか一つに記載の切り替え可能な自動立体表示装置。 - 前記制御器は、前記電極層の選択された電極に、電位を選択的に印加するように配置され、
これにより、前記レンズ素子の配列の選択された部分の前記屈折率が切り替えられることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の切り替え可能な自動立体表示装置。 - 前記表示画素は、長方形状であり、
前記表示画素の長辺の端部は、前記列の方向に延伸することを特徴とする請求項1乃至14のいずれか一つに記載の切り替え可能な自動立体表示装置。 - 前記表示画素の行と列は、直交していることを特徴とする請求項1乃至15のいずれか一つに記載の切り替え可能な自動立体表示装置。
- 前記表示パネルは、液晶表示パネルであることを特徴とする請求項1乃至16のいずれか一つに記載の切り替え可能な自動立体表示装置。
- 表示画素は、前記表示画素の行および列の各交点に設けられることを特徴とする請求項1乃至17のいずれか一つに記載の切り替え可能な自動立体表示装置。
