切に設置されていることを目視確認することが困難である。
また、本発明はカップリングにて連結されるのに、好適な配管付属部品に関する。付属部品は端の近傍において周方向全体に延びる溝を有する。溝はパイプの一端に近接して位置する第1の側壁と、第1の側壁及びパイプの一端から離間して位置する第2の側壁と第1の側壁と第2の側壁との間を延びる底壁とからなる。第1の側壁及び第2の側壁のいずれかが90度を上回る角度をもって床壁に対して斜状に配向される。
づいた単なる例示である。カップリングを構成するセグメントの個数、セグメント同士の取り付け方等、多くの別例が考えられる。
カム面を有するキーを用いることは、溝切りが施されたパイプの接続に限定されるものではなく、少なくとも1つのキーを有する全てのカップリングの構成に適用可能である。図4Aは溝を有するパイプをフランジ付きパイプに接続するために、類似したカップリング・セグメントとともに使用されるカップリング・セグメント51を示す。カップリング・セグメントは円弧状のキー30を備え、同キー30はその両端にカム面42を有する。上述したように、カム面はキー30の接線方向に角度をなすように形成され、図4に示すように楔状面46を形成している。キーに対向してフランジ53が設けられ、同フランジがフランジ付きパイプの対応するフランジに係合する。通常のフランジ連結の場合と同様に、これらフランジはボルト穴55に挿通される止め具によって互いに連結される。カップリング・セグメント51はこれに対応するカップリング・セグメントに対して端部同士が取付け手段を介して連結される。業界にて広く知られ、さらには上述したように、取付け手段はセグメントの端部近傍に設けられた、互いに整合し、かつ締め具によって係合される突起20であることが望ましい。
間隙を省略し、かつ全ての許容条件を満たすようにキー30を溝34に係入することは可能である。この構成ではキーの楔作用が両パイプを堅固に連結するという効果を奏する。しかし、突起20,22がそれらの表面同士全体で係合する構成と、間隙を省力した状態でキーが溝の壁面に完全に接触する構成とを備え、かつ必要な許容条件を満たすようにカップリングとパイプとを安価で製造することは困難である。従ってキーと溝の間隙を省略し、突起20,22を表面同士全体で係合させるように構成することは実用的ではない。図9に示すように、突起20,22を表面同士全体で係合させる構成を省略する場合には、セグメント16の突起22に隣接して舌片110を形成し、同舌片110をセグメント18の突起22に隣接する凹部112に嵌合させる構成を採用することが望ましい。このように構成することにより、内部圧力が上昇した場合でも、突起20,22間の間隙からシール部材40が逸脱することが防止される。
工時にはパイプに接触するようになっている。
これまでの実施例では、カップリングのキーと協働して楔効果を発揮する溝をパイプの端部に形成する旨を記載したが、溝をパイプの付属部品に適用することも可能である。例えば、図16は両端において周方向全体に延びる溝142を有するエルボー状の接続具140を示すものである。溝142は図5及び図10−15に示す断面形状、またはこれらの変更形状に形成可能である。同様に、図17に示すT字状接続具144は好ましくは各端の近傍において溝146を有する。溝は接続具をパイプやここに示す他の接続具に接続するために楔効果を発揮するように形成されている。図18は一端の近傍に楔効果を奏する溝150を有し、他端にフランジ152を有する接続具148を示す。接続具148はフランジを利用した機械的な接続方法によりパイプ配管を他のパイプ配管に接続可能にする。更に、図19及び20に示すように、異なる径を有する一対のパイプを接続するリディューサ154(図19)又はニップル156(図20)にもそれぞれ溝158,160を形成し、カップリングと溝との間における楔運動を増加させ、カップリングの許容性に基づき、より堅固または可撓性に富む連結を保障することも可能である。
この発明によるパイプカップリングは、水密的な接続を効果的に行うため、カップリングがパイプに対して適切に取り付けられていることを確認するための信頼性の高い、視認表示機能を備えるとともに、堅固な連結を実現するという効果を発揮する。このカップリングは安価に製造可能であり、さらにパイプ間の堅固な接続を行うものである。
Claims (14)
- 端の近傍において周方向全体に延びる溝を有するパイプであって、溝はパイプの表面に形成されて、互いに対向して離間する一対の側壁と、これらを連結する床壁とから画定され、前記溝はパイプの表面で測定される第1の幅と、溝の床壁にて測定される第2の幅とを備え、第1の幅は第2の幅よりも大きな値であることと、前記側壁のいずれか一方は、異なる角度を有する複数の斜状部の組み合わせであるか、湾曲部と斜状部との組み合わせであることと、前記側壁のうちの一方は凸状の断面形状を備えることとを特徴とするパイプ。
- 前記側壁のうちの一方は凹状の断面形状を備えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のパイプ。
- 前記床壁は湾曲していることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のパイプ。
- 端の近傍において周方向全体に延びる溝を有するパイプであって、溝はパイプの表面に形成されて、互いに対向して離間する一対の側壁と、これらを連結する床壁とから画定され、前記溝はパイプの表面で測定される第1の幅と、溝の床壁にて測定される第2の幅とを備え、第1の幅は第2の幅よりも大きな値であることと、前記側壁のいずれか一方は、異なる角度を有する複数の斜状部の組み合わせであるか、湾曲部と斜状部との組み合わせであることと、一方の側壁はパイプの表面に近接する第1の斜状に配向された部分と、床壁に近接する第2の斜状に配向された部分とからなることを特徴とするパイプ。
- 第1の斜状に配向された部分の傾斜度は第2の斜状に配向された部分の傾斜度よりも大きいことを特徴とする請求項4に記載のパイプ。
- 第1の斜状に配向された部分の傾斜度は第2の斜状に配向された部分の傾斜度よりも小さいことを特徴とする請求項4に記載のパイプ。
- 一方の側壁はパイプの表面に近接する斜状に配向された第1の部分と、床壁に近接する第2の部分とからなり、前記第2の部分は凹状の断面形状を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載のパイプ。
- 端の近傍において周方向全体に延びる溝を有する配管付属部品であって、溝は付属部品の表面に形成されて、互いに対向して離間する一対の側壁と、これらを連結する床壁とから画定され、前記溝は付属部品の表面で測定される第1の幅と、溝の床壁にて測定される第2の幅とを備え、第1の幅は第2の幅よりも大きな値であることと、前記側壁のいずれか一方は、異なる角度を有する複数の斜状部の組み合わせであるか、湾曲部と斜状部との組み合わせであることと、前記側壁のうちの一方は凸状の断面形状を備えることとを特徴とする付属部品。
- 前記側壁のうちの一方は凹状の断面形状を備えることを特徴とする請求項8に記載の付属部品。
- 端の近傍において周方向全体に延びる溝を有する配管付属部品であって、溝は付属部品の表面に形成されて、互いに対向して離間する一対の側壁と、これらを連結する床壁とから画定され、前記溝は付属部品の表面で測定される第1の幅と、溝の床壁にて測定される第2の幅とを備え、第1の幅は第2の幅よりも大きな値であることと、前記側壁のいずれか一方は、異なる角度を有する複数の斜状部の組み合わせであるか、湾曲部と斜状部との組み合わせであることと、一方の側壁は付属部品の表面に近接する第1の斜状に配向された部分と、床壁に近接する第2の斜状に配向された部分とからなることとを特徴とする付属部品。
- 第1の斜状に配向された部分の傾斜度は第2の斜状に配向された部分の傾斜度よりも大きいことを特徴とする請求項10に記載の付属部品。
- 第1の斜状に配向された部分の傾斜度は第2の斜状に配向された部分の傾斜度よりも小さいことを特徴とする請求項10に記載の付属部品。
- 一方の側壁は付属部品の表面に近接する斜状に配向された第1の部分と、床壁に近接する第2の部分とからなり、前記第2の部分は凹状の断面形状を有することを特徴とする請求項8に記載の付属部品。
- 前記付属部品はエルボー管、フランジ付き付属部品、T字管、リデューサ、バルブであることを特徴とする請求項8に記載の付属部品。
