Claims (7)
- 後方反射偏光変換を低減するための液晶(LC)表示装置であって、
液晶分子の配向のため暗状態で残留複屈折を持つLC表示パネルと、
前記残留複屈折を少なくとも部分的に補正するための偏光補正素子とを備え、
前記偏光補正素子が、第1の重合体光配列(LPP)層と、前記第1のLPP層に載せられた第1の硬化光重合型液晶ポリマー(LCP)層とを含み、
前記第1のLCP層の平面内速軸配向が、実質的に、方位角上、LC表示パネルの平面内遅軸に関して0°から90°の範囲の角度で配列され、
前記第1のLCP層が、前記第1のLPP層により誘起された近似ホメオトロピック配列を持ち、それにより可視スペクトルにおいて0.0001から0.05の範囲の平面内ΔN複屈折値を持つ前記装置。 - 前記第1のLPP層が、近似ホメオトロピック配列を持つ請求項1に記載の装置。
- さらに、前記第1のLPP層を支える第1の透明基板を備え、前記第1の透明基板が、空間的リターダンス・リップルを抑制するため、複数の薄膜誘電体層により1つまたは複数の表面上にコーティングされる請求項1に記載の装置。
- さらに、第2の透明基板と、前記第2の透明基板を前記第1のLCP層に貼り付けるための接着層とを備えた請求項3に記載の装置。
- 複数の薄膜誘電体層が、発生する偏光変換の量を最小限にするため、前記第2の透明基板の片面または両面に配置される請求項4に記載の装置。
- 偏光補正素子を製造する方法であって、
a)透明基板を用意する工程と、
b)前記透明基板の片面に第1のLPP層を堆積する工程と、
c)LPP分子を配列するため前記第1のLPP層を直線偏光に露光させる工程と、
d)コーティング・サンプルを形成する前記第1のLPP層上に第1のLCP層を堆積する工程と、
e)前記第1のLPP層により前記第1のLCP層に近似ホメオトロピック配列を誘起し、それにより前記第1のLCP層の平面内ΔN複屈折値を可視スペクトルにおいて0.0001から0.05の範囲に下げるため前記コーティング・サンプルを熱処理する工程と、
f)前記コーティング・サンプルを紫外線または電子ビーム放射線に曝して前記コーティング・サンプルを硬化させる工程と
を備えた方法。 - 前記方法が、さらに、
g1)前記平面内ΔN複屈折値を可視スペクトル内で0.0001から0.05の範囲に下げるため熱処理する工程を備えた請求項6に記載の方法。
