In general, a polyester resin is synthesized by reacting a polybasic acid or acid anhydride with glycols. It can also be synthesized from polybasic acids or glycol esters as raw materials. However, in any method, it is necessary to advance the reaction at a high temperature of about 200 ° C. In addition, since the condensate is water or alcohol and has high polarity, it is difficult to distill off all at a low temperature of 150 ° C. or lower.

Examples of catalysts include lithium, sodium, potassium, rubidium, cesium, beryllium, magnesium, calcium, strontium, barium, titanium, zirconium, vanadium, chromium, manganese, iron, cobalt, nickel, copper, silver, palladium, zinc, Hydrides such as aluminum, gallium, tin, ammonium, hydroxide, borohydride, amide compound, fluoride, chloride, bromide, iodide, borate, phosphate, carbonate, sulfate, nitrate, Examples include organic acid salts, alcoholates, phenolates and hydrates thereof, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, toluenesulfonic acid, phosphoric acid, nitric acid, formic acid, acetic acid, oxalic acid, benzoic acid, boron trifluoride compounds, and the like. Among these, chloride, alcoholate, or acid is preferable, acids such as toluenesulfonic acid and sulfuric acid are more preferable, and paratoluenesulfonic acid is particularly preferable. The amount of the catalyst used is preferably 0.0001 to 0.2 mol, more preferably 0.001 to 0.05 mol, per 1 equivalent of the cyclic ketal group. When the amount is less than 0.0001 mol, the promoting effect as a catalyst is small. When the amount is more than 0.2 mol, it is difficult to remove the catalyst remaining in the resin, and the physical properties of the cured product may be adversely affected. There is sex.
The temperature at which the cyclic ketal ester and the acid anhydride are reacted is 180 ° C. or lower, and is appropriately selected above the temperature at which the raw materials and the solvent used are solidified. From the viewpoint of preventing side reactions and saving energy, the reaction temperature is preferably 170 ° C. or lower, and more preferably 150 ° C. or lower.
The reaction time is appropriately selected according to the raw materials used, reaction conditions, etc.
Usually, it is 1 minute to 24 hours, preferably 10 minutes to 20 hours, more preferably 1 hour to 15 hours. If it is less than 1 minute, it does not react sufficiently even when it is reacted at a high temperature, and if it exceeds 24 hours, the efficiency of the synthesis is significantly reduced.
In the present invention, when the cyclic ketal ester and the acid anhydride are reacted, it may be preferable to raise the temperature stepwise by dividing into multiple times, for example, twice. When synthesizing the resin, it is possible to control the elimination reaction of the protecting group and the high molecular weight reaction by a double bond or the like by dividing the temperature into several stages.
Any atmosphere may be used for the reaction. However, in the case where a simple method is emphasized, it is preferably in the air. In order to reduce the by-products and reduce the possibility of fire, nitrogen, It is preferably in an inert gas such as argon, helium, neon, carbon dioxide.
In the polyester resin synthesis method of the present invention, ketones are condensed and eliminated. Such ketones can be distilled off at low temperatures. The method of distilling off may be carried out according to a conventional method, but it is preferably removed under normal pressure or reduced pressure.
The polyester resin thus obtained has a weight average molecular weight of 200 to 100,000 and a number average molecular weight of 150 to 10,000. When the weight average molecular weight is less than 200 and the number average molecular weight is less than 150, the polymerization reaction does not proceed sufficiently, and it is difficult to obtain a cured resin having good physical properties. When the weight average molecular weight exceeds 100,000 and the number average molecular weight exceeds 10,000, the fluidity is remarkably lowered at various temperature ranges, and it tends to be difficult to provide a good molded product.

While cooling with ice, benzoyl chloride (10.00 g, 0.071 mol) was added dropwise with a dropping funnel. The mixture was refluxed for 2 hours, allowed to cool, water was poured into the reaction solution to dissolve the solid, and the mixture was extracted 3 times with 50 ml of ethyl acetate and then 3 times with 50 ml of saturated aqueous sodium hydrogen carbonate. The organic layer was dried over magnesium sulfate, and the solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure using an evaporator. Distillation under reduced pressure (95 ° C./0.1 mmHg) gave a benzoate solketal ester in a yield of 77.7% (12.38 g, 0.068 mol). The spectrum data of the obtained solketal ester are shown below.

[Polymerization reaction of benzoate solketal ester and acid anhydride]
Reference Examples 1 and 12 and Examples 2 to 11 and 13 to 22
The eggplant flask was charged with 5.0 mmol of benzoic acid solketal ester, 5.0 mmol of acid anhydride and 0.25 mmol (5.0 mol%) of the catalyst, and reacted at a predetermined temperature for a predetermined time. For the measurement of the molecular weight (weight average molecular weight, number average molecular weight) of the obtained polymer, gel permeation chromatography GPC (standard material polystyrene (Pts), fluid phase solvent THF flow rate 1 ml / min) was used. Here, GPC was measured using JASCO 880PU (pump), 875-UV, 830-RI (detector), shodex KF804L + 80M (column). The dissociation rate of the protecting group was calculated from the decrease rate of protons (δ1.31 and 1.38) of the dimethyl group in the solketal group in the 1 H-NMR spectrum of the elimination of acetone. The results are shown in Table 1. In Table 1, 100 ° C / 6h + 150 ° C / 4h was stirred at 100 ° C for 6 hours, then heated to 150 ° C and reacted for 4 hours.
As shown in Example 2 to Example 11, the weight average molecular weight of the obtained polymer is increased with respect to the average molecular weight 167 of the monomer. It can be seen that the molecular weight of the repeating unit after the removal of the protective group acetone is 276, and the average number of repeating units, that is, the degree of polymerization is 1 to 3. It can also be seen that the acetal skeleton almost disappears after the reaction at 100 ° C. for 6 hours. Furthermore, it can be seen that in Examples 13 to 22 in which the temperature was divided into two stages and heated to 150 ° C., the degree of polymerization increased. Moreover, in Example 19 using para-toluenesulfonic acid as a catalyst, it turns out that the polymerization degree of a weight average is 100 and the number average is also 4.
フラスコに、フタル酸ジメチル500mg(2.57mmol)、ソルケタール850mg(6.43mmol)、触媒としてリン酸三カリウム163mg(0.77mmol、フタル酸ジメチルに対して30mol%)を入れ、100℃のオイルバスにつけ、アスピレーターで減圧(34mmHg)し、メタノールを除去しながら1時間反応を行った。 A flask was charged with 500 mg (2.57 mmol) of dimethyl phthalate, 850 mg (6.43 mmol) of solketal, and 163 mg (0.77 mmol, 30 mol% with respect to dimethyl phthalate) of tripotassium phosphate as a catalyst. Then, the pressure was reduced (34 mmHg) with an aspirator, and the reaction was carried out for 1 hour while removing methanol. The yield of the obtained phthalic acid solketal ester was determined by 1 H-NMR to be 91%.

Examples 23-40
100 mmol of phthalic acid solketal ester, predetermined amount of maleic anhydride shown in Table 3, predetermined amount of styrene (0 mol% with respect to maleic anhydride in Examples 23 to 31 and maleic anhydride in Examples 32 to 40) 50 mol%) and 5 mmol of paratoluenesulfonic acid (PTSA) were put in a flask, stirred at 100 ° C. for 6 hours, then heated to 150 ° C. and stirred for 4 hours. The reaction formulas of Examples 23 to 31 are as follows.
The resulting cured product was evaluated for glass transition temperature (Tg) and thermal decomposition temperature (Td). For reference, the temperature (Td 10 ) when the amount was reduced by 10% after the start of thermal decomposition was measured. The results are shown in Table 3.
In Table 3, “-” in the Td 10 (° C.) column indicates unmeasured.
As shown in Examples 23 to 31, it is understood that a cured product having a Tg of 100 ° C. or higher and a Td of 255 ° C. or higher is obtained by polymerization of a phthalate solketal ester and maleic anhydride. In Examples 32 to 40 in which styrene was added thereto, cured products having Tg of 150 ° C. or higher were obtained.
