Description
The present invention relates to a light-emitting device used for a light source or an indicator of various sensors such as a flashlight or backlight for a mobile phone, a display capable of displaying various data, a line sensor, and the like.
In recent years, surface-mounted light-emitting devices are increasingly used in place of lamp-type light-emitting devices for the purpose of downsizing and thinning. In this surface mount type light emitting device, a lens is not attached integrally, and most lenses and a package are provided separately. This is problematic in that it is not easy to mount the lens and an optical design is required. Therefore, almost no light emitting device with a lens attached thereto is known.
A conventional surface mount type light emitting device has a lens provided on an upper surface of a package (see, for example, Patent Document 1). FIG. 25 shows a conventional surface mount type light emitting device. An LED die 216, which can be a III-nitride light emitting device, is mounted on the submount 218. Submount 218 is supported by
However, the conventional surface-mount type light emitting device has no particular description regarding fixing of the lens. Although it is conceivable to fix the lens with a commonly used adhesive, sufficient adhesive strength cannot be obtained. Also, the adhesive crawls up on the lens, which causes dust to adhere to the lens and the lens to shift. Furthermore, it is considered that the phenomenon that the lens becomes clouded due to the volatilization of the organic component in the adhesive. Therefore, a surface mount type light emitting device having a fixed lens has not been put to practical use.
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a highly reliable light emitting device in which a lens is integrally provided in a package on which a light emitting element is mounted. The present invention includes a step of placing a light emitting element in a package in which leads extending from the side surface or the bottom surface are arranged and integrally molded, and a lens arranged to transmit light from the light emitting element. The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a light emitting device, comprising: a step of bending the lead so as to be locked; and a step of positioning and locking the lens between the lead and the package.
Since the present invention is configured as described above, the following effects can be obtained.
The present invention relates to a light emitting device having a light emitting element, a package for mounting the light emitting element, a lead disposed in the package, and a lens disposed to transmit light from the light emitting element. The present invention relates to a light emitting device in which the lens is locked by the lead. As a result, the lens can be locked without using an adhesive, so that there is no need to consider a problem related to the adhesive. By providing a plurality of leads, it is possible to lock the leads.
It is preferable that the lens is sandwiched and locked between the lead and the package. Thereby, a lens can be locked more easily.
The light emitting device may be provided with a buffer member at a contact portion between the lens and the package. For example, a washer. This is to increase the locking strength between the lens and the package.
The package has an opening having a bottom surface and a side surface, the lead is disposed on the bottom surface, and the light emitting element is placed on the bottom surface, and the lead extends outward from the outer bottom surface or the outer side surface of the package. It is preferable that it is disposed. By providing the leads on the outer bottom surface or the outer side surface of the package, electrical conduction can be obtained from the outer side surface or the outer bottom surface. Moreover, the elasticity at the time of pressing down a lens can be given. Further, the light emitting element can be disposed in the opening by having the opening. Thereby, the lead on which the light emitting element is placed can be disposed on the side close to the bottom surface, and the lead can be easily disposed from the outer side surface or the outer bottom surface of the package. Furthermore, the flow of the resin when manufacturing the resin package by the injection molding method can be improved, and the yield can be increased.
The package has an opening having a bottom surface and a side surface, the side surface has an inclination extending in the opening direction, and the lens has the lens function outside a straight line extending outward from the inclination. The thing provided with the part to have can also be provided. Thereby, the light from the light emitting element can be efficiently emitted to the outside. In addition, the directivity of the light emitted from the opening can be controlled.
The lead is preferably a pair of positive and negative electrodes. The lead for pressing the lens functions as a pair of positive and negative electrodes. Further, by increasing the lead area, heat generated from the light emitting element can be radiated to the outside.
The light emitting device can also be provided with a pair of the leads serving as positive and negative electrodes and at least one lens pressing lead for sandwiching the lens with the package. Since the lead serving as the electrode and the lead for sandwiching the lens can be provided separately, the shape, member, and the like according to each application can be obtained. In this case, the lead is a separate member, and preferably a part of the lead is in contact.
Preferably, the lead is disposed outward from an outer bottom surface or an outer side surface of the package, and is bent and the lens is locked. Although the shape after bending is arbitrary, it is preferably bent along the package. As a result, a frame type lead such as a metal plate can be used.
Preferably, the package has an opening having a bottom surface and a side surface, and the lens has a size that fits into the opening. By using a lens having a size that fits in the opening, it is possible to lock in only one direction (for example, only from the upper surface), thereby simplifying the manufacturing process. Further, there is no lens position shift in the package, and the optical characteristics can be made constant.
The package has an opening having a bottom surface and a side surface, and the opening has a first opening and a second opening having different opening diameters. An opening diameter larger than the opening diameter of the first opening and a step provided between the first opening and the second opening can be provided. As a result, the resin flows into the stepped portion, and it is possible to prevent the resin from creeping up to the upper surface of the opening. The diameter of the lens to be inserted into the opening is the same as or smaller than the diameter of the second opening, and the lens is larger than the diameter of the first opening. Since it stops at the portion, it is possible to prevent the lens from being fitted. Furthermore, by manufacturing a package having a stepped portion using resin, the stepped portion can be made elastic, and the pressure at the time of lens locking can be dispersed.
The lens may be a convex lens. Thereby, condensing property can be improved.
The lens may be a Fresnel lens. Accordingly, the lens can be thinned, and the light emitting device can be thinned.
The package has an opening having a bottom surface and a side surface, and the light emitting element can be covered with a resin containing a fluorescent material in the opening. This facilitates color tone adjustment. Moreover, since a fluorescent substance can be arrange | positioned by a lens and another member, the member and shape according to each use can be selected.
The package has an opening having a bottom surface and a side surface, and the light emitting element is covered with a resin containing a fluorescent material in the opening, and the package is provided between the resin and the lens. Can also be provided with a gap. Contact between the resin and the lens can be prevented. This is because the fogging of the lens accompanying the contact can be prevented.
The present invention is a package in which leads are disposed and integrally formed, and the leads extend outward from a side surface or a bottom surface of the package and have a length capable of locking a lens. Regarding packages. Thus, a package having a lead having a length capable of locking the lens can be provided.
The present invention is a package having an opening having a bottom surface and a side surface on the top surface, wherein the package is formed integrally with a lead, and the lead extends outward from the outer side surface or the outer bottom surface of the package. And a package having a length extending to the vicinity of the opening on the upper surface. As a result, the lens can be locked in the vicinity of the opening. Further, the opening has a first opening and a second opening having different opening diameters, and the opening diameter of the second opening is larger than the opening diameter of the first opening, It is preferable that a step portion is provided between the first opening and the second opening. This makes it easy to adjust the amount of resin, for example, it is sufficient to inject the resin up to the first opening. Further, by providing the step portion, it is possible to prevent the resin from creeping up.
The present invention includes a step of placing a light emitting element in a package in which leads extending from the side surface or the bottom surface are arranged and integrally molded, and a lens arranged to transmit light from the light emitting element. The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a light-emitting device, which includes a step of arranging in a package and a step of bending the lead to lock the lens. Accordingly, a light emitting device provided with a lens can be easily manufactured without using an adhesive. The package is preferably a resin. The pressure when the lens is locked by bending the lead can be dispersed, and the lens can be prevented from cracking.
By bending the lead in advance, the lens can be prevented from being damaged. That is, when the lens is locked by bending the lead, the lens may be damaged by pressing. Further, the lens can be locked more firmly by bending the lead in advance. Further, since the lens is fitted between the bent lead and the package, the light emitting device can be easily manufactured.

FIG. 2 is a schematic cross-sectional perspective view taken along line AA in FIG. 4 is a schematic cross-sectional view taken along line BB in FIG.

In consideration of outdoor use, it is preferable to use a gallium nitride compound semiconductor as a semiconductor material capable of forming a high-luminance light-emitting element. In red, gallium / aluminum / arsenic semiconductors or aluminum / indium / gallium are used. -It is preferable to use a phosphorus-based semiconductor, but it can be used in various ways depending on the application.
When a gallium nitride compound semiconductor is used, a material such as sapphire, spinel, SiC, Si, ZnO, or GaN single crystal is used for the semiconductor substrate. A sapphire substrate is preferably used to form gallium nitride with good crystallinity with high productivity. 10 examples of light-emitting elements using nitride-based compound semiconductors are shown. A buffer layer such as GaN or AlN is formed on the sapphire substrate. A first contact layer made of N or P-type GaN, an active layer made of an InGaN thin film having a quantum effect, a clad layer made of P or N-type AlGaN, and a second contact made of P or N-type GaN. It can be set as the structure which formed the contact layer in order. Gallium nitride-based compound semiconductors exhibit N-type conductivity without being doped with impurities. When forming a desired N-type gallium nitride semiconductor such as improving luminous efficiency, Si, Ge, Se, Te, C, etc. are preferably introduced as appropriate as N-type dopants.
On the other hand, when a P-type gallium nitride semiconductor is formed, a P-type dopant such as Zn, Mg, Be, Ca, Sr, or Ba is doped. Since a gallium nitride based semiconductor is difficult to be converted into a P-type simply by doping with a P-type dopant, it is necessary to make it P-type by annealing it by heating in a furnace, low electron beam irradiation, plasma irradiation or the like after introducing the P-type dopant. The semiconductor wafer thus formed is partially etched to form positive and negative electrodes. After that, the light emitting element can be formed by cutting the semiconductor wafer into a desired size.

The opening has a first opening and a second opening having different opening diameters. The opening diameter of the second opening is larger than the opening diameter of the first opening. A step portion is provided between the opening and the second opening. The height of the

The

<リード>

<レンズ>

<樹脂>

As a means for mounting these light emitting devices, there is a method of mounting using a socket having a shape into which the light emitting device is fitted, in addition to mounting at a predetermined position using solder or the like. The socket has a portion electrically connected to the lead of the light emitting device and a recess for preventing the light emitting device from being pulled out. The convex part of the light emitting device is fitted into the concave part (opened here) of the socket. By using the socket, the light emitting device can be attached and detached very easily.
