IL2/IL1=K・(IH2/IH1) (1)
IHX=(ILX・IH1)/(K・IL1) (2)
IHX=A・ILX (3)
IMX=IHX・(PM−PL)/(PH−PL) (4)

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an optical disk recording apparatus. In place In this regard, it is easy to detect and control the laser light output during the actual recording, and to easily set the laser diode driving current value before starting the actual recording.
[0002]
[Prior art]
CD-R, CD-RW and other recordable CD standard discs, DVD-R, DVD + RW, DVD-RAM, DVD-RW and other recordable DVD standard discs, magneto-optical discs, and other various recordable optical discs Recording is performed by irradiating the recording layer of the optical disc with laser light whose light output is modulated in accordance with the recording signal. At this time, the optical output of the laser beam needs to be controlled to an appropriate value according to the sensitivity of the recording layer. FIG. 2 shows drive current value versus optical output characteristics of a laser diode used in an optical disk recording apparatus. According to this, in the region of the optical output used for recording and reproduction of the optical disc, the optical output changes linearly according to the drive current. As the temperature increases, the light emission efficiency decreases, so the drive current value required to achieve the same light output increases compared to when the temperature is low, and the change in the light output with respect to the change in the drive current value is small. (The slope of the characteristic becomes gentle.)
[0003]
When recording an optical disk using a laser diode having such characteristics, it is necessary to control the laser light output to two levels or three levels according to the recording signal waveform. Conventionally, during the actual recording, the required drive current value is obtained by controlling ALPC (Automatic Laser Power Control) for all of these two or three levels, or any two of the three levels. For the level, the necessary drive current value is obtained by controlling with ALPC, and the necessary drive current value is obtained by calculation for the remaining one level from the characteristic of connecting the obtained two drive current values with a straight line. I was trying to do it.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
According to the conventional method for controlling the laser diode driving current value, it is necessary to control the required driving current value by ALPC for at least two levels, and the control is complicated. Further, when at least one of the levels controlled by the ALPC is a level in which the recording signal waveform has a short duration, the output waveform of the optical monitor (front monitor, back monitor, etc.) is rounded for the level. Therefore, it is difficult to detect the light output accurately (especially when recording at a high speed magnification). To detect the light output accurately, an expensive optical monitor with a fast response speed is installed. There was a need to do.
[0005]
The present invention solves the problems in the prior art, facilitates the detection and control of the laser light output during the actual recording, and facilitates the setting of the laser diode driving current value before starting the actual recording. Recording equipment Place It is something to be offered.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The optical disk recording apparatus of the present invention corresponds to a laser drive current for realizing a low level laser light output in an optical disk recording apparatus that records an optical disk by modulating the laser light output to a plurality of levels according to a recording signal. Equivalent to the difference between the first laser driving current source for supplying the current to be driven, the laser driving current for realizing the laser light output of another level and the laser driving current for realizing the low level laser light output One or a plurality of other laser driving current sources for supplying a current to be supplied, a laser diode driven by a current obtained by adding currents supplied from the first and other laser driving current sources, and a laser beam of the laser diode An optical monitor that detects the output, and the other laser driving current source is turned on / off according to the recording signal waveform to output laser light from the laser diode. On / off means for controlling the laser drive current source to control the plurality of levels, a current detector for detecting the laser drive current value supplied from the first laser drive current source, and the other laser drive current source A laser drive current to be supplied is set to start production recording, and during production recording, laser light output is detected for a specific one of the plurality of levels, and the detected laser light output is A control circuit for controlling a laser drive current supplied from the first laser drive current source (for example, a laser drive current value that realizes a laser beam output at a reproduction level) so as to coincide with a predetermined level determined for the level; It comprises. According to this, during actual recording, it is only necessary to detect the laser light output for a specific one of the plurality of levels, so that it is easy to detect the laser light output during actual recording.
[0007]
In particular, if the level at which the laser beam output is detected during the actual recording is set to a level in which the flat period of the recording signal waveform is the longest among the plurality of levels, the laser having a short duration of the recording signal waveform can be obtained. There is no need to detect the optical output, and an expensive optical monitor with a high response speed can be dispensed with, for example, at a medium high speed recording of 8 × or higher speed or at a high speed recording of 16 × speed or higher. For example, when recording on a CD-RW disc by modulating the laser light output into three levels of a recording level, an erasing level, and a bottom level (reproduction level) according to the recording signal, the flat period of the recording signal waveform is The laser beam output during the actual recording is detected for the longest erase level, and the detected laser beam output is detected from the first laser drive current source so as to match the level set for the erase level. The laser drive current value to be supplied can be controlled. Further, when the laser light output is modulated into two levels of a recording level and a bottom level (reproduction level) according to the recording signal to perform high-speed recording on the CD-R disc, the flat period of the recording signal waveform is the longest. The laser light output during the actual recording is detected with respect to the obtained recording level, and the detected laser light output is supplied from the first laser driving current source so as to coincide with the level set for the recording level. The laser drive current value can be controlled. Also, when medium-to-high-speed recording is performed on a CD-R disc by modulating the laser light output into three levels of a light top level, a light base level, and a bottom level (reproduction level) according to a recording signal, a recording signal waveform The laser beam output during the actual recording is detected for the bottom level where the flat period of the laser beam is the longest, and the first laser beam is set so that the detected laser beam output matches the level set for the bottom level. The laser drive current value supplied from the drive current source can be controlled. Further, when recording on a DVD disk by modulating the laser light output into two levels of a recording level and a bottom level (reproduction level) according to the recording signal, the bottom in which the flat period of the recording signal waveform can be obtained the longest. The laser beam output during the actual recording is detected for the level, and the laser drive current supplied from the first laser drive current source so that the detected laser beam output matches the level set for the bottom level The value can be controlled. In addition, the control circuit may provide a laser supplied from another laser drive current source when the laser drive current fluctuates due to control of the laser drive current supplied from the first laser drive current source during the actual recording. Control to change the set value of the drive current can be performed.
[0008]

The control circuit, for example, a laser drive supplied from the low-level laser drive current source in order to realize a predetermined low-level laser light output in accordance with a laser drive current value that varies with temperature versus a laser light output characteristic. A function for obtaining a laser drive current value supplied from the high-level laser drive current source in order to realize a predetermined high-level laser light output with respect to the current value is set, and before starting the actual recording, the laser The laser drive current supplied from the low level laser drive current source is controlled so that the laser light output when the diode is driven by the low level laser drive current source becomes the predetermined low level. Based on the laser drive current value, supply from the high-level laser drive current source to realize the predetermined high-level laser light output from the function Seeking chromatography The driving current, a laser drive current supplied from the high level laser drive current source may be one that performs control to start the real recording set to a value obtained it said.
[0009]

ON / OFF means, a current detector for detecting a laser driving current value supplied from the first laser driving current source, and a laser driving current supplied from the second and third laser driving current sources are respectively set. Then, the actual recording is started, and during the actual recording, the laser light output is detected for a specific one of the three levels, and the detected laser light output is determined for the level. The those formed by and a control circuit for controlling a laser drive current supplied from the first laser driving current source so as to match the predetermined level. The control circuit, for example, provides laser drive supplied from the first laser drive current source in order to realize a predetermined low level laser light output in accordance with a laser drive current value varying with temperature versus laser light output characteristics. A specific example of control at the time of recording of the optical disk recording apparatus of FIG. 1 for each optical disk type will be described. FIG. 5 shows an example of a laser beam output waveform modulated by a recording signal when recording on various optical disks at various speed magnifications. The broken line is the actual output waveform of the laser light emitted from the laser diode, and the solid line is the output waveform of the optical monitor (photodiode) that receives the laser light. The output waveform of the optical monitor is distorted due to the response delay, and the optical monitor output does not reach the level corresponding to the actual laser light output in the section where the recording signal waveform shows a pulse shape with a short duration. The laser beam output cannot be detected accurately. Therefore, the laser beam output is detected for the level that provides the longest flat period (duration) of the recording signal waveform for each optical disc type.
