Description
の範囲にあることが、前記酸化アルミニウム層と前記炭窒化チタン層との層間剥離を抑え、チッピングや異常摩耗を防ぐことができるため重要である。
また、上述した表面被覆切削工具を製造するには、まず、上述した硬質合金を焼成によって形成しうる金属炭化物、窒化物、炭窒化物、酸化物等の無機物粉末に、金属粉末、カーボン粉末等を適宜添加、混合し、プレス成形、鋳込成形、押出成形、冷間静水圧プレス成形等の公知の成形方法によって所定の工具形状に成形した後、真空中または非酸化性雰囲気中にて焼成することによって上述した硬質合金からなる基体2を作製する。

Claims (2)
- 基体の表面に少なくとも筋状結晶からなる炭窒化チタン層が1層以上と、その上層として酸化アルミニウム層を被覆した表面被覆切削工具において、該表面被覆切削工具の断面を観察した際に前記酸化アルミニウム層中の前記炭窒化チタン層との界面にチタン化合物粒子が埋め込まれており、前記チタン化合物粒子の平均粒径が前記筋状結晶からなる炭窒化チタン層のうちの前記酸化アルミニウム層に最も近い炭窒化チタン層中の炭窒化チタン粒子の平均粒子幅の1.3〜3倍の範囲にあることを特徴とする表面被覆切削工具。
- 前記酸化アルミニウム層の直下に粒状結晶をなしてチタンの炭化物、窒化物、炭窒化物、酸化物、炭酸化物、酸窒化物、炭酸窒化物の群から選ばれる1種からなるチタン化合物層が膜厚0.01〜1μmの範囲で少なくとも1層存在することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表面被覆切削工具。
