BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a method for producing a high-purity ferric chloride aqueous solution, and more particularly, to a method for producing a high-purity ferric chloride aqueous solution with significantly reduced impurities, suitable for use as a flocculant in water treatment and the like. .
[0002]
[Prior art]
As an aggregating agent used for water treatment, an aqueous solution of polyaluminum chloride (PAC), an aqueous solution of aluminum sulfate (sulfuric acid band) or the like is used, but in recent years, aluminum is considered to be a causative agent of Alzheimer's disease Thus, the use of such a flocculant in clean water has been regarded as a problem. On the other hand, ferric chloride aqueous solution is famous for inorganic flocculants as well as polyaluminum chloride aqueous solution and aluminum sulfate aqueous solution, but has almost no use record in clean water and is mainly used for sewage treatment. The reason for not using it in clean water is that it contains many impurities such as heavy metals.
[0003]
Examples of the method for producing an aqueous ferric chloride solution include a method obtained by an oxidation reaction such as blowing chlorine gas into an aqueous ferrous chloride solution obtained by dissolving iron (scrap iron) in hydrochloric acid. At present, it is often obtained by recycling waste such as introducing iron (scrap iron) into the pickling waste liquid of steel and then blowing chlorine into an aqueous ferric chloride solution. In this method, impurities of the iron material to be used are directly mixed into the ferric chloride aqueous solution. Generally, iron materials contain a large amount of metal impurities such as manganese.
[0004]
The main use of the aqueous ferric chloride solution is an etchant for etching various metals. When an iron material, nickel-containing steel, copper printed circuit board, etc. are etched using the etchant, the etched metal is dissolved in the etchant, and the ferric chloride in the solution is reduced to ferrous chloride, resulting in an etching effect. Lost. The waste liquid that has lost its etching effect is regenerated after removing the impure metal content and reusing it as an aqueous ferric chloride solution. Various regeneration methods have been proposed depending on the type of dissolved metal impurities, and most of them are methods using metallic iron.
[0005]
For example, Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 5-255869 discloses a regeneration method when nickel is contained in the waste liquid, and Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 1-167235 discloses a regeneration method when copper and nickel are contained. When these methods are employed and ferric chloride aqueous solution is regenerated, the ferric chloride aqueous solution will increase compared to the initial amount. Is. However, since the ferric chloride aqueous solution obtained by the regeneration method contains an impurity component, there is no problem to use it as an etchant, but it becomes a problem when used as a flocculant. In this case, it is difficult to use the regenerated ferric chloride aqueous solution because a flocculant with very few heavy metals is desired.
[0006]
That is, as described above, impurities contained in the metal to be etched are mixed in the waste liquid used as the etchant. With regard to the regeneration of this waste liquid, the conventional method of removing and exchanging impurity metals and iron materials by introducing iron materials is not suitable for removing metals with a high ionization tendency and at the same time the impurities contained in the iron materials are reversed. It will dissolve in the liquid. Therefore, the reproduction by this method has a limit. Therefore, a method for further purifying the ferric chloride aqueous solution has been desired.
[0007]
In general, a crystallization method is used as a method for reducing impurities in the solution. However, when this method is applied to a ferric chloride aqueous solution, there are the following problems. When ferric chloride crystals are precipitated from a ferric chloride aqueous solution, hexahydrate crystals are usually obtained. If this crystal is obtained and dissolved, it is theoretically possible to obtain a high-purity ferric chloride aqueous solution. Is possible. However, in a solution with a concentration of 60% by mass or more, all the ferric chloride is crystallized, so it is impossible to remove impurities. In fact, when it is precipitated at 55% by mass or more, the crystal becomes sherbet and separates from the liquid. Becomes difficult. Therefore, the concentration must be less than this, but on the other hand, the crystal precipitation concentration at 20 ° C., which requires less cooling costs, is 48% by mass. Therefore, in the case of the crystallization method, the operation is performed in a very narrow concentration range. Is required and is not efficient. In addition, the crystallization method inherently has a disadvantage that the energy cost for concentration is large.
[0008]
In addition, there is a method in which a solution containing an alkali or various anions is added to remove the metal into a hydroxide or the like. Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 7-165427 discloses a method of obtaining a purified ferric chloride aqueous solution by neutralizing with alkali to obtain a hydroxide precipitate and then dissolving in hydrochloric acid. However, this method is not applicable to all metal impurities, and for example, metal impurities that undergo precipitation reaction with alkali cannot be removed, and impurities in alkali also become a problem. In addition, it requires a large amount of alkali.
[0009]
Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 57-67027 discloses basic chloride by reacting ferrous chloride in a ferrous chloride solution with a peroxide such as chlorate, chlorite or hypochlorite. A method of producing a ferric chloride solution with low free acid, characterized by producing a ferric precipitate and reacting it with hydrochloric acid is disclosed. However, this method has the disadvantages that all the iron content becomes a basic ferric chloride precipitate, so that impurities cannot be removed, and the chemicals used are expensive.
[0010]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
The object of the present invention is to solve the problem of impurities in the ferric chloride aqueous solution obtained by the conventional regeneration method, and to produce a high-purity ferric chloride aqueous solution with very few impurities that can be used in waterworks etc. Is to provide a way to do.
[0011]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present inventors completed the present invention as a result of intensive studies on a method for producing a high-purity ferric chloride solution containing few impurities using a ferric chloride aqueous solution containing a large amount of impurities used for etching. It came to do.
[0012]
That is, the present invention is characterized in that ferrous chloride in an aqueous solution containing ferrous chloride is oxidized by an oxygen-containing gas, precipitated iron oxyhydroxide is separated, and the iron oxyhydroxide is dissolved in hydrochloric acid. It is a manufacturing method of high purity ferric chloride aqueous solution.
[0013]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Specific means of the present invention are as follows.
The ferrous chloride aqueous solution used as a raw material, for example, in order to remove a specific heavy metal from an iron chloride aqueous solution containing a large amount of impurities used for etching or the like, iron material and / or iron powder is added and the heavy metal is removed. At the same time of removal, it is obtained by reducing ferric chloride to ferrous chloride.
[0014]
Next, an oxygen-containing gas is passed through the aqueous ferrous chloride solution to cause the following reaction (1) to produce ferric chloride and iron oxyhydroxide. Examples of the oxygen-containing gas include oxygen and air.
12FeCl 2 + 3O 2 + 2H 2 O → 8FeCl 3 + 4FeOOH (1)
[0015]
In order to efficiently perform this reaction, a method of supplying an oxygen-containing gas to an aqueous ferrous chloride solution using an ejector is preferable because it is inexpensive and exhibits a high reaction rate under mild reaction conditions. After the slurry containing iron oxyhydroxide precipitated by the reaction is filtered off with a filter press or the like, the iron oxyhydroxide is dissolved in hydrochloric acid, and ferric chloride is generated by the reaction (2) below.
FeOOH + 3HCl → FeCl 3 + 2H 2 O (2)
[0016]
When iron oxyhydroxide is washed with water before it is dissolved with hydrochloric acid, an aqueous ferric chloride solution with higher purity can be obtained.
[0017]
It is also possible to obtain iron oxyhydroxide by the operation (1) directly with respect to the aqueous iron chloride solution used for etching. For example, in a normal shadow mask (material iron plate) etching, the main components of the waste liquid after etching are ferric chloride and ferrous chloride. In this case, it is necessary to reduce all to ferrous chloride. It is rather efficient to oxidize directly with an oxygen-containing gas.
[0018]
The present invention will be described in more detail.
The ferric chloride solution used for the etching is an aqueous solution containing impurities derived from reduced ferrous chloride, etched steel, and the like. As impurities, for example, invar steel (iron: 64% by mass, nickel: 36% by mass) contains a large amount of nickel when etched, and a large amount of copper when etched. By introducing an iron material and / or iron powder, these impurities are deposited as a metal body on the iron surface by an ion exchange reaction with metallic iron, and are removed by filtration. As this technique, for example, JP-A-5-2555869 can be cited.
[0019]
However, in this method, a metal having a higher ionization tendency than iron cannot be removed, and further, the metal contained in the iron material and / or iron powder is dissolved into the aqueous iron chloride solution by dissolution of the iron powder. Impurities in iron materials and / or iron powder include manganese, zinc, lead, aluminum, arsenic, etc., but these impurities are all more ionized than iron and therefore cannot be removed in this process It is. These impurities are gradually stored as the reaction proceeds, and the concentration in the system increases.
[0020]
In the present invention, ferric chloride is mainly oxidized by supplying an oxygen-containing gas such as air to the ferrous chloride solution after the removal of the metal having a low ionization tendency by the iron material and / or iron powder is completed. At the same time, iron oxyhydroxide is generated. Since various ions dissolved in the system are already in a highly oxidized state of the substance, they are hardly affected by this oxidation reaction by oxygen (air). Therefore, in the slurry in which oxidation by oxygen (air) is finished and the ferric chloride solution and precipitated iron oxyhydroxide coexist, most of the metal impurities are present in the ferric chloride solution, and the iron oxyhydroxide There is little accumulation on the side. Therefore, if the slurry is filtered and separated by a filter press or the like, a ferric chloride solution enriched with metal impurities and iron oxyhydroxide with less metal impurities are obtained separately.
[0021]
However, even if it isolate | separates using a filter press etc., a metal impurity cannot be isolate | separated completely. That is, as a result of experiments by the present inventors, the iron oxyhydroxide after filter press still contains about 30% by mass of water, and a large amount of metal impurities are present in the water. Further, a large amount of ferric chloride aqueous solution enriched with metal impurities adheres to the surface of iron oxyhydroxide. Therefore, by washing the obtained iron oxyhydroxide with water, the ferric chloride solution and metal impurities adhering to the surface can be separated and removed, and iron oxyhydroxide with less impurities can be obtained. .
[0022]
A high-purity ferric chloride aqueous solution with few metal impurities can be produced by dissolving the iron oxyhydroxide with few impurities obtained in the above step with hydrochloric acid with few impurities. These series of reactions are preferably carried out at a temperature of 40 to 95 ° C., particularly preferably 80 to 90 ° C. in order to obtain a high reaction rate.
The obtained high-purity ferric chloride aqueous solution is particularly suitable for use as a flocculant in water treatment or the like, but can also be used for ordinary uses such as an etchant.
[0023]
【Example】
The present invention will be specifically described below with reference to examples. However, the present invention is not limited to the examples.
[0024]
Example, Comparative Example 2
Air was supplied to an aqueous ferrous chloride solution heated to 80 ° C. by an ejector to produce a slurry containing an iron oxyhydroxide precipitate, which was separated by a filter press to obtain iron oxyhydroxide. 1 kg of pure water was added to 1 kg of the obtained iron oxyhydroxide, stirred for 30 minutes, and then separated by filtration. This was added to 1 liter of 35% hydrochloric acid heated to 80 ° C. and dissolved with stirring ( Example ). At the same time, iron oxyhydroxide separated by the filter press was dissolved in 1 liter of hydrochloric acid heated to 80 ° C. without washing with pure water. After 30 minutes, heating was stopped, the mixture was allowed to cool and then filtered, and the concentration of metal impurities in each filtrate, ferric chloride aqueous solution, was analyzed. The results are shown in Table 1 ( Comparative Example 2 ).
[0025]
Comparative Example 1
Iron powder was added to the same ferrous chloride aqueous solution used in Example 1, and a part of the metal impurities was precipitated on the surface of the iron powder and separated by filtration. The filtrate was oxidized by blowing chlorine gas to obtain an aqueous ferric chloride solution. The metal impurity concentration in the aqueous solution was analyzed. The results are shown in Table 1. In each Example and Comparative Example 1, the ferric chloride concentration in the aqueous ferric chloride solution is shown in Table 1 in terms of 45.5%, which is the concentration in the normal product.
[0026]
[Table 1]
[0027]
As can be seen from this result, in the examples, it was found that many types of metal impurities were significantly reduced as compared with the comparative examples. Further, when the iron oxyhydroxide before being dissolved in hydrochloric acid is washed with water, the effect is further increased, and a ferric chloride solution with less impurities can be prepared.
[0028]
Of particular note is that the concentration of non-metallic arsenic, which is toxic but difficult to remove, and the concentration of base metals such as aluminum and manganese, which are problematic when used in clean water, are greatly reduced. . Therefore, it can be understood that it is extremely valuable to produce a high purity ferric chloride aqueous solution using the present invention.
[0029]
【The invention's effect】
According to the present invention, it is possible to produce a high-purity ferric chloride aqueous solution with few metal impurities, and the aqueous solution can be expected to be used in a wide range of applications such as water supply fields.
