Description
図1および図2に示すように、本発明に係るポリマー型リチウムイオン二次電池は、フィルム状外装体の一例であるアルミニウムラミネート材を用いたアルミニウムラミネート外装体3を有している。このアルミニウムラミネート外装体3は、図1に示すように、フィルムが折り返されてなる底部と、開口部を封止する周縁封止部4a・4b・4cとを有し、前記底部以外の扁平形状の3方が封止された3方封止構造である。そして、前記底部と3方の封止部4a・4b・4cで囲まれた本体部分の内側に収納空間2が形成されており(図2参照)、この収納空間2内に、第1扁平側面R部と第2扁平側面R部とを有する図3に示すような扁平形電極体1と、非水電解液を含むゲル状ポリマーが収納されている。
なお、本発明の適用はこの構造のアルミニウムラミネート材を用いた外装体に限定されるものではないことは勿論であり、例えば樹脂フィルムのみからなる外装体であってもよい。
コバルト酸リチウム(LiCoO2)からなる正極活物質と、アセチレンブラックまたはグラファイト等の炭素系導電剤と、ポリビニリデンフルオライド(PVDF)からなる結着剤とを、質量比90:5:5の割合で量り採り、これらをN−メチル−2−ピロリドンからなる有機溶剤等に溶解させた後、混合し、正極活物質スラリーを調製した。
体積平均粒径20μmの人造黒鉛からなる負極活物質と、スチレンブタジエンゴムからなる結着剤と、カルボキシメチルセルロースからなる増粘剤とを、質量比98:1:1の割合で量り採り、これらを適量の水と混合し、負極活物質スラリーを調製した。
上記正極9をアルミニウムから成る正極集電タブ7に、上記負極10をニッケルから成る負極集電タブ8にそれぞれ接続した。また、それぞれの集電タブと正負極とが重なる部分には、ポリフェニレンスルフィド(PPS)製の集電タブ保護テープ5・6を設けた。この正極と負極とオレフィン系樹脂からなる微多孔膜のセパレータとを、巻き取り機により図3または図7に示すように捲回し、幅(芯体の短手方向の長さ)が61mm、長さ(芯体の長手方向の長さ)が15mmの絶縁性の巻き止めテープ16を最外周の正極にかかる第2扁平側面R部上に設け、扁平形電極体1を完成させた。なお、タブ保護テープやセパレータの材質は上記材質に特に限定されるものではないことは勿論である。また、巻き止めテープ16の材質は、上記絶縁部材にかかる絶縁テープと同様に、電解液やリチウムイオンに対して高い安定性を示す絶縁性材料であれば特に限定されるものではない。
エチレンカーボネート(EC)とプロピレンカーボネート(PC)とジエチルカーボネート(DEC)とを体積比1:1:8の割合(1013hPa、25℃と換算した場合における)で混合した非水溶媒に、電解質塩としてのLiPF6を1.0M(モル/リットル)の割合で溶解したものを電解液とし、この電解液と、ポリエチレングリコールジアクリレート(分子量:1000)とを質量比9:1の割合で混合し、さらに重合開始剤(t−ヘキシルパーオキシピバレート)を加えてプレゲル溶液を作製した。
上記扁平形電極体1と上記プレゲル溶液とを、フィルムが折り返されてなる底部を有し、かつ前記底部以外の扁平形状の3方が封止された3方封止構造のアルミニウムラミネート外装体3の収納空間2内に挿入し、この外装体の開口部を封止した後、熱処理してプレゲル溶液をゲル化させ本実施の形態にかかるリチウムイオン二次電池を完成させた。
以下の実施例および比較例にかかる電池を10個用意し、各電池を高さ1.9mから自由落下(最大10回)させ、内部短絡が発生するまでの落下回数(耐落下衝撃性能)を調べた。なお、内部短絡の発生は、テスターによる集電タブ間の導通検査により確認した。
(実施例)
本実施例は、上記実施の形態にかかるフィルム状外装体を有する電池である。
(比較例)
本比較例は、正極(第1電極)に絶縁テープが設けられてないこと以外は、上記実施例と同じフィルム状外装体を有する電池である。
これらの結果から、本発明のフィルム状外装体を有する電池であると、耐落下衝撃性能に優れることが判った。
(1)本発明にかかるフィルム状外装体を有する電池は、第1電極を負極とし、第2電極を正極としても、上記実施の形態と同様に優れた耐落下衝撃性能が得られる。

Claims (6)
- セパレータを介して対向した第1電極と第2電極とが、第1扁平側面R部と第2扁平側面R部とを有する扁平形に捲回されてなる扁平形電極体を、フィルム状外装体に収納したフィルム状外装体を有する電池において、
前記第1電極は前記電極体の最外周に捲回されており、
前記第1扁平側面R部部分であって前記最外周の第1電極と、前記最外周の第1電極よりも1周内側に捲回されている第2電極との間に、当該第1扁平側面R部の下端および/または上端が完全に覆われるようにして絶縁部材が配置され、
更に、前記第1扁平側面R部部分であって前記最外周の第1電極よりも1周内側に捲回されている第2電極と、前記1周内側に捲回されている第2電極よりもさらに1周内側に捲回されている第1電極との間に、当該第1扁平側面R部の下端および/または上端が完全に覆われるようにして絶縁部材が配置されている、
ことを特徴とするフィルム状外装体を有する電池。 - 前記フィルム状外装体は、アルミニウム層と樹脂層とが積層された方形のアルミニウムラミネートフィルムが折り返され、その3方側端近傍が封止されてなる扁平形の3方封止構造体であり、
前記第1扁平側面R部の下端が前記アルミニウムラミネートフィルムの折り返された前記フィルム状外装体の底部側に位置しており、当該下端にのみ前記絶縁部材が設けられている、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のフィルム状外装体を有する電池。 - 前記第1電極は前記第2電極よりも短手方向の幅が狭く、
前記絶縁部材は、前記最外周の第1電極の内周面、および前記1周内側に捲回されている第2電極よりもさらに1周内側に捲回されている第1電極の外周面に配置されている、
ことを特徴とする請求項1記載のフィルム状外装体を有する電池。 - 前記第1扁平側面R部全面を完全に覆うようにして絶縁部材が設けられている、
ことを特徴とする請求項1記載のフィルム状外装体を有する電池。 - 前記第1電極の最外周面に、前記第2扁平側面R部全面を完全に覆うようにして、第2の絶縁部材が配置されている、
ことを特徴とする請求項1記載のフィルム状外装体を有する電池。 - 前記第1電極の巻回終端が前記電極体の最外周における第2扁平側面R部に位置しており、
前記第2の絶縁部材が電極体の巻回終端を巻き止めする絶縁性巻き止めテープである
ことを特徴とする請求項5記載のフィルム状外装体を有する電池。
