電子部品を回路基板へ実装するための電子部品実装装置では、電子部品を所定位置へ順次供給する電子部品供給装置が用いられる。この電子部品供給装置としては、多数の電子部品をトレイ上へマトリックス状に配置して供給するトレイ方式や、多数の電子部品を一定間隔毎に支持したテープやベルトをその一定間隔毎に間欠送りして供給する間欠送り方式等が知られている。

図6は従来のトレイ方式の部品供給装置の例を示す。この部品供給装置9は、トレイ引出ユニット1によりY方向に引出可能なトレイベース2を多数積層状態で格納したスタッカ3から構成されており、このスタッカ3はZ方向に昇降可能なスタッカ昇降ユニット6により上下される。また、各トレイベース2には、多数の電子部品4をマトリックス状に縦横に配置したトレイ5が載置されている。
