Description
The present invention relates to the production how the ND filter, a method for manufacturing the N D filter suitable for particular use in imaging systems such as a video camera or still video camera.
The aperture stop is provided in the optical path of the photographic optical system in order to control the amount of light incident on the solid-state image sensor on a silver salt film or CCD, etc. It is configured.
Therefore, when shooting a clear or high-brightness field, the aperture becomes a small aperture, which is easily affected by the hunting phenomenon of the aperture and light diffraction, resulting in degradation of image performance.
As a countermeasure against this, a ND (Neutral Density) filter is attached to the aperture blade so that the aperture of the aperture is enlarged even if the brightness of the object field is the same.
In recent years, as the sensitivity of the image sensor has improved, the density of the ND filter is increased to further reduce the light transmittance, and the device has been devised to increase the aperture of the aperture even if the brightness of the object field is the same. It is coming. However, when the density of the ND filter is increased in this way, as shown in FIG. 13, the light amount difference between the light a that has passed through the film and the light b that has not passed is greatly different, and a “shading” phenomenon in which the brightness differs within the screen occurs. Or the resolution is reduced. In order to solve this drawback, it has become necessary to adopt a structure in which the transmittance of the ND filter increases gradually toward the center of the optical axis.
In FIG. 13,
Generally, as a method for producing an ND filter, an organic dye or pigment that absorbs light in a film-like material (cellulose acetate, PET (polyethylene terephthalate), vinyl chloride, etc.), and a kneading type, There is a type in which an organic dye or pigment that absorbs light is applied to the material. In these manufacturing methods, it is possible to produce a filter having a uniform density, but it is extremely difficult to produce a type of filter (gradation filter) in which the density changes.
In addition, as disclosed in
In the video cameras at the time when these were proposed, the image quality was improved by the ND filter produced by this method. However, due to the further higher sensitivity, smaller size, and higher image quality of the CCD in recent years, it was especially under special conditions. In use (for example, a small-diameter aperture state under backlight), the image quality may deteriorate due to the influence of light scattering by the silver salt particles.
Further, as a countermeasure for the high image quality, a single density ND filter is bonded to a plurality of diaphragm blades and driven to change the density from a portion where the single density filter does not overlap a plurality of overlapping portions. It is possible.
However, this method has the disadvantage that the cost increases due to the increase in the number of ND filters, and the thickness increases due to the presence of a plurality of ND filters on the diaphragm blades, which makes it impossible to cope with recent miniaturization and space saving. There is.
Furthermore, in recent years, a stepwise multi-density ND filter has begun to be used, but it has been found that the optical characteristics change due to overlapping or gaps at the boundary portions of different densities, causing deterioration in image quality. .
According to the manufacturing method of the ND filter according to
Therefore, the present invention makes it possible to reduce the reflectance at the inclined portion of the film thickness, does not cause deterioration in image quality due to light scattering, can cope with high image quality, and has a flat spectral characteristic at each density. Another object of the present invention is to provide a manufacturing how the filter.
The present invention is to provide a manufacturing how the ND filter constituted as follows.
In other words, the ND filter manufacturing method of the present invention is a ND filter manufacturing method for manufacturing an ND filter by forming at least two kinds of films on a substrate by a vacuum deposition method. Revolving on the dome integrally with the substrate, forming a film of the outermost layer from the first layer having a gradation density distribution, and a second slit shifted in position from the first slit mask Revolving the mask on the dome integrally with the substrate, and further forming a film having the same composition as the outermost layer having a film thickness distribution in a direction opposite to the outermost layer from the first layer. It is characterized by having .
According to the present invention, it is possible to cope with a high image quality without causing deterioration of image quality due to light scattering, and a gradation density that allows the spectral characteristics to be flat at each density and the reflectance of the inclined portion to be reduced. it is possible to realize a manufacturing how the ND filter having a distribution.
The present invention is characterized by the configuration as described above, which is based on the following knowledge which the present inventors have intensively studied. These will be made clear by the following description of embodiments of the present invention.
1A and 1B are diagrams for explaining the configuration of a vacuum vapor deposition machine used in the present embodiment. FIG. 1A is a simplified view inside a chamber of the vacuum vapor deposition machine, and FIG. 1B is an enlarged view of a substrate.
In FIG. 1, 101 is a vapor deposition umbrella, 102 is a substrate on which a film is formed, 103 is a vapor deposition source, 104 is a base material on which an actual film is formed, and 105 is a substrate jig for fixing the
FIG. 2 is a diagram for explaining a mask used in this embodiment, and here, as an example, the normal slit mask of FIG. 2A is used.
In FIG. 2, 106 is a slit mask, 107 is a width between slits in the slit mask, and 108 is a distance between the substrate and the slit mask.
In the vacuum vapor deposition method used in this embodiment, the substrate in the chamber is provided on the
FIG. 5A shows the result of actually performing the film thickness distribution simulation using the slit mask shown in FIG. 2A, and FIG. 5B shows the parameter on FIG. 5A on the substrate. FIG. 5C-1 is a bird's-eye view of the position in the vapor deposition umbrella, and FIG. 5C-2 is a cross-sectional view of the position in the vapor deposition umbrella. Reference numeral 109 denotes a substrate position in the
The film thickness distribution shown in FIG. 5A naturally varies depending on the substrate position 109 in the vapor deposition umbrella, the
Further, the slit type mask for producing such an arbitrary gradation density distribution is a slit type mask having a shape as shown in FIG. 2A in this embodiment, and in FIG. 5A. Although described with the simulation results, in actuality, various types such as the sawtooth type shown in FIG. 2B or the comb type shown in FIG. 2C may be used depending on the gradation density distribution of the ND filter to be manufactured. it can.
When a film having a gradation density distribution is formed by the above-described ND filter manufacturing method, the reflectance is partially increased in the density gradient portion (thickness gradient portion) where the density continuously changes.
When these further described with reference to FIG. 4, since the highest uniform density portion of X 3 from the area X 4 in FIG. 4 (a) matches the anti-reflection condition, the reflectance is 2% or less. In contrast, in the concentration gradient portion = thickness inclined portion from the
As a result of intensive studies in order to solve these problems, the present inventors formed a film from the first layer to the outermost layer with the first slit mask, and then formed the film from the first layer to the outermost layer. A film having the same composition as the outermost layer having a film thickness gradient in the opposite direction is further formed on the outermost layer, and the outermost layer and the film having the same composition as the outermost layer are joined together. The film thickness of the outermost layer of the form should be a constant 1 / 4λ in optical film thickness, or a film thickness distribution of 1 / 4λ ± 1 / 8λ (λ = 500 nm to 600 nm) (in optical film thickness). Thus, the present inventors have found a solution means that it is possible to suppress the ghost / flare phenomenon by suppressing the reflectance of the inclined portion of the film thickness to 2% or less (see FIG. 4C).
At this time, as a method for forming such a film, after forming from one layer to the outermost layer with a first slit mask (see 401 in FIG. 4B), the position is shifted from the first slit mask. In addition, the second slit mask (see 402 in FIG. 4C) is formed by revolving the dome integrally with the substrate to form a film thickness gradient in the direction opposite to the outermost layer from the first layer. A method of further forming a film having the same composition as the outermost layer on the outermost layer was used.
Although the present embodiment has been described above, the present invention is not limited to the embodiment. In particular, in the description of FIG. 1 and the like, a case where a vacuum deposition method is used as an example of a method for forming an ND filter is described. However, the present invention is applied to a sputtering method, an inkjet printing method, a spray method, and the like. Since the same effect can be obtained and these film forming methods are generally known, the description thereof is omitted here.

Next, examples of the present invention will be described.
The present embodiment applies the above-described configuration and embodiment of the present invention, and these will be described with reference to the drawings.
(A-1) of FIG. 3 is the figure which looked at the slit mask set on the board | substrate at the time of film-forming from the 1st layer of this Example to the outermost layer from the top, (a-2) of FIG. (A-1) is the figure which looked at from the arrow direction, and is the figure showing how to attach the film | membrane from the 1st layer to the outermost layer by providing a space in a slit mask and a board | substrate. FIG. 3B-1 is a top view of the slit mask set on the substrate when a film having the same composition as that of the outermost layer of the present example is formed, and FIG. 2) is a view of (b-1) as viewed from the direction of the arrow, and shows how to attach a film having the same composition as the outermost layer by providing a space in the slit mask and the substrate.
In FIG. 3, 301 and 301 'are slit masks, 302 is a PET substrate, 303 is a film forming jig, 304 is a film from the first layer to the outermost layer, and 305 is a film having the same composition as the outermost layer.
Below, the manufacturing method of the ND filter by a present Example is demonstrated.
First, on the plastic base material (hereinafter referred to as PET base material) having a thickness of 75 μm, the first layer to the outermost layer of the film configuration shown in FIG. .
In this embodiment, the slit mask is a normal type shown in FIG. 2A and is arranged as shown in FIG. By setting the
As the film generation method, the vacuum deposition method was selected because the film thickness can be controlled relatively easily and the scattering is very small in the visible wavelength range. Further, as the material of the substrate, PET having high heat resistance (glass transition point Tg), high transparency in the visible wavelength range, and low water absorption was selected.
Next, the
The outermost layer and the layer having the same composition as the outermost layer are collectively referred to herein as the outermost layer.
The reason is that in the final form, the outermost layer film in the portion where the continuous film thickness is inclined from the first layer to the outermost layer and the film having the same composition as that of the outermost layer are formed so as to have a film thickness gradient in the opposite direction. This is because it is added and becomes the outermost layer.
The outermost layer and the film having the same composition as the outermost layer, that is, the film of the outermost layer in the final form, has an optical film thickness n × d (where n is a refractive index and d is a mechanical film thickness) of 1 / 4λ (λ: 540 nm). A film was formed according to the conditions. The refractive index n of the outermost layer film in the final form was selected to be 1.5 or less in the visible wavelength range. Specifically, MgF 2 was used.
As a result, the reflectance of the oblique portion can be reduced to 3% or less.
After forming from the first layer to the film having the same composition as the outermost layer as described above, heat treatment was performed in air at 110 ° C. for 1 hour. The reason for selecting 110 ° C. is that the effect of improving the environmental stability is insufficient when the temperature is less than 100 ° C., and when the temperature exceeds 130 ° C., problems such as thermal degradation of the base material and cracks in the film occur. Accordingly, the heat treatment temperature is suitably between 110 ° C and 130 ° C.
In order to investigate the environmental stability, the plastic ND filter was subjected to a standing test at 60 ° C. and 85% for 240 hours, and the transmittance before and after the test was measured. . As a reference, when the same environmental test was performed on the sample without heat treatment, and the transmittance before and after the test was measured, it increased by about 2%.
The cause of such a phenomenon is that the substrate temperature during vacuum deposition is low.
The sealing density of the film is greatly influenced by the substrate temperature at the time of film formation. If the temperature is low, the sealing density is low, and moisture, oxygen, etc. are easily transmitted. Therefore, the oxidation of Ti x O y itself as an absorption film is not performed. It is considered that the transmittance increases due to both the promotion and the low protective effect of a dielectric film such as an Al 2 O 3 film that protects it. It is considered that the environmental stability is improved by the heat treatment due to the “aging effect”.
In general, when a glass substrate is used, the substrate temperature is 200 ° C. to 250 ° C., preferably about 300 ° C. for film formation.
However, when the substrate is plastic as in this case, it is necessary to form the film at a temperature at which the substrate does not cause thermal shrinkage, and the substrate temperature is limited to less than 150 ° C.
Here, as an example of the ND filter, a pattern as shown in FIG. 11A is produced and cut out into a substantially triangular shape as shown in FIG. The state shown in FIG. The diaphragm device is the same as that described with reference to FIG. 13 and includes a plurality of diaphragm blades that are relatively driven to change the size of the diaphragm aperture. One filter is as shown in FIG. 11B, where 0 is an end face portion and X 1 X 2 X 3 from there is a density change region. X 3 to X 4 have the highest uniform density. X 5 from X 4 is an adhesive area for bonding the filter blade.
FIG. 4A shows the ND gradation filter and the state of each film thickness corresponding to the ND gradation filter.
First, the first layer to the outermost layer will be described.
In the 0, X 1 , X 2 , and X 3 regions, the respective film thicknesses continuously increase. This changing method can be set to a desired pattern by the slit width of the slit mask and the space between the substrate and the slit.
Since the X 3 and X 4 regions have a constant concentration, each film thickness is also a constant film thickness.
Next, the outermost layer and the film having the same composition as the outermost layer (the outermost layer in the final form formed by combining the outermost layer and the film having the same composition as the outermost layer) are antireflection and environmental stability. most preferred,, 1 / 4λ ± 1 / 8λ thickness of constant thickness in the region of 1 / 4.lamda a film that doubles as an optical film thickness n × d and (lambda = 500 nm to 600 nm) to 0 to X 5 is Within the distribution, the reflectance was 3% or less.
Further, the film having the same composition as the outermost layer continuously decreases in thickness in the 0, X 1 , X 2 , and X 3 regions as opposed to the first layer to the outermost layer. As for the manner of this change, the inclination becomes generally gentle when the slit width is widened, and the uniform density region tends to increase as the floating distance increases.
The film thickness of the film having the same composition as the outermost layer is set to a film thickness that corrects the film thickness change from the first layer to the outermost layer. With these two parameters, it is possible to control a desired gradient state and a uniform density region.
By adopting such a film configuration, the reflectance of the inclined portion in each region can be reduced, and the “ghost” and “flare” phenomenon can be suppressed.
FIG. 7 shows the relationship between distance and density at this time, and FIG. 8 shows the relationship between distance and reflectance.
Further, the spectral transmittance is as shown in FIG. 9, and the spectral reflectance is as shown in FIG.
Incidentally, the slit width is 0.02 m, and the floating distance between the mask and the substrate is 0.01 m.
As for the manner of change in the relationship between distance and density, the slope becomes gentler when the slit width is broadened, and the uniform density region tends to increase as the floating distance increases. With these two parameters, it is possible to control a desired gradient state and a uniform density region. Furthermore, finer control is possible by changing the slit from a straight line to a sawtooth shape and a comb tooth shape as shown in FIGS. 2 (b) and 2 (c). For example, when it is desired to take a long skirt, the sawtooth type is more advantageous.
According to the embodiment described above, it is possible to produce a gradation ND filter having a flat spectral characteristic at each density, and can meet various needs for gradation changes. Furthermore, environmental stability can be improved by performing heat treatment after vapor deposition.
In addition, it is possible to suppress an increase in reflectance due to a change in antireflection conditions, which occurs when the film thickness partially changes, and it is possible to realize a diaphragm device that can meet the demand for high image quality. In addition, it is possible to realize a camera having an optical system, the above-described light amount diaphragm device that limits the amount of light that passes through the optical system, and a solid-state imaging device that receives an image formed by the optical system.
