BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a satellite broadcasting system that uses an artificial satellite to transmit information to a terrestrial service area, and in particular, enables a receiving terminal to receive information from a satellite even in an area behind a building or a mountain. The present invention relates to a gap filler device.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In recent years, construction of satellite broadcasting systems using artificial satellites (broadcasting satellites and communication satellites) has been promoted. In such satellite broadcasting systems, broadcast signals (radio waves) transmitted from terrestrial broadcasting stations to satellites are transmitted. A satellite (specifically, a repeater provided in the satellite) relays and transmits to the service area on the ground. According to such a satellite broadcasting system, it is possible to provide information to each receiving terminal (mobile station and fixed station) existing in a wide service area without having to build a large infrastructure on the ground. it can.
[0003]
However, since the radio waves used in the satellite broadcasting system have a very high frequency, they are highly straight and fly away, but when there are obstacles, they are reflected immediately. Therefore, especially when the receiving terminal is a mobile receiving terminal (a receiving device as a mobile station or a mobile station mounted on a vehicle), when the receiving terminal enters a shadow of a building where direct waves from a satellite do not reach, Broadcast information cannot be obtained.
[0004]
For this reason, conventionally, for example, as disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 10-308695, it has been considered to provide a gap filler device serving as a ground repeater in a high-rise building or the like.
In other words, the gap filler device is not capable of receiving broadcast signals from satellites and receiving point equipment that has a receiving antenna as a main part installed at a position where it can receive broadcast signals from satellites (such as the rooftop of a building). It is equipped with a transmission point facility whose main part is a transmission antenna installed at a position where radio waves can be wirelessly transmitted to the area, receives a broadcast signal from the satellite by the reception point facility, and has the same contents as the received broadcast signal A signal (relay broadcast signal) is transmitted to the unreceivable area by the transmission point facility. Then, by adding such a gap filler device as a constituent element of the satellite broadcasting system, information can be reliably provided to receiving terminals existing in various places on the ground.
[0005]
By the way, in this kind of gap filler device, if the frequency of the broadcast signal received from the satellite and the frequency of the relay broadcast signal transmitted by this device are the same, the transmitted wave (the radio wave transmitted from the transmitting antenna) is received wave (received) There is a possibility that oscillation will occur around the radio wave received by the antenna.
[0006]
Therefore, as a technique for preventing such a transmission wave from wrapping around to a reception wave, the above publication discloses a satellite broadcasting system premised on the installation of a gap filler device as shown in (1) and (2) below. It has been proposed to do.
(1) First, the satellite uses a broadcast signal transmitted from a terrestrial broadcast station as a first broadcast signal in the S band (2.6 to 4 GHz, for example 2.6 GHz) and Ku having a higher frequency. It converts into the 2nd broadcast signal of a band (12-18GHz) or Ka band (27-40GHz), and transmits the 1st broadcast signal and the 2nd broadcast signal to the service area on the ground, respectively.
[0007]
{Circle over (2)} On the other hand, the gap filler device receives the second broadcast signal having the higher frequency among the first broadcast signal and the second broadcast signal transmitted from the satellite, and the received second broadcast signal. Is converted to a broadcast signal having the same frequency as the first broadcast signal (S-band broadcast signal), and the frequency-converted broadcast signal cannot be received directly from the satellite within the service area. Wireless transmission as relay broadcast signal to impossible area.
[0008]
Then, by performing the above (1) and (2), in the gap filler device, the frequency of the second broadcast signal received from the satellite and the relay broadcast signal transmitted by the present device are different. Therefore, it is possible to reliably prevent the transmitted wave from sneaking into the received wave, and each receiving terminal on the ground has only to receive the S-band broadcast signal that is less attenuated than the Ku band and the Ka band. Broadcasting can be received with simple equipment without using a large antenna such as an antenna.
[0009]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, the gap filler device described in the above publication can prevent the transmission wave from wrapping around the reception wave, but has the following problems.
First, in general, in this type of gap filler device, a reception point for receiving radio waves from a satellite (that is, the installation position of a reception point facility) and a transmission point for transmitting a relay broadcast signal toward the unreceivable area ( That is, it is often impossible to make the transmission point facility) the same location.
[0010]
For this reason, when the gap filler device described in the above publication is put into practical use, the reception point equipment and the transmission point equipment are connected by a transmission path for signal transmission, and the reception point equipment side receives Ku from the satellite. The second broadcast signal of the band or Ka band is frequency-converted into an S-band broadcast signal having the same frequency as that of the first broadcast signal and output on the transmission line. On the transmission point equipment side, the reception point equipment passes through the transmission line. The S band broadcast signal transmitted in this manner is wirelessly transmitted to the unreceivable area.
[0011]
Here, a waveguide may be used as the transmission line connecting the reception point facility and the transmission point facility, but it is not realistic because the installation work of the gap filler device becomes very difficult.
Therefore, in general, a coaxial cable is used as a transmission line connecting the reception point facility and the transmission point facility. In order to transmit an S-band signal from the reception point facility to the transmission point facility with low loss, For example, it is necessary to use a coaxial cable having a very large diameter such as φ10 mm (10D) or φ12 mm (12D). This problem becomes more prominent as the distance between the reception point facility and the transmission point facility increases.
[0012]
The present invention has been made in view of such problems, and in a gap filler device for a satellite broadcasting system, even if a reception point facility and a transmission point facility are separated, both facilities can be connected with a coaxial cable having a small diameter. In addition, by using such a gap filler device, an object is to make it possible to construct a satellite broadcasting system having no area where broadcasting information from satellites cannot be received at low cost.
[0013]
[Means for Solving the Problems and Effects of the Invention]
The gap filler device for a satellite broadcasting system according to claim 1 of the present invention, which has been made to achieve the above object, has different frequencies transmitted from a satellite to a terrestrial service area in the same manner as the conventional device described above. In addition, the first broadcast signal having the same content as the first broadcast signal and the second broadcast signal having the higher frequency are received, and the received second broadcast signal is converted into a relay broadcast signal having the same frequency as the first broadcast signal. The frequency is converted and wirelessly transmitted to an unreceivable area where the first broadcast signal from the satellite cannot be directly received within the service area.
[0014]
In particular, in the gap filler device of the present invention, the reception conversion means receives the second broadcast signal from the satellite, and the received second broadcast signal has a predetermined frequency band whose frequency is lower than that of the first broadcast signal. The signal is converted to a cable transmission signal and output from the output terminal onto the coaxial cable. The transmission means connected to the reception conversion means via the coaxial cable transmits the cable transmission signal transmitted via the coaxial cable to the relay broadcast signal having the same frequency as the first broadcast signal from the satellite. The frequency is converted into a radio wave and transmitted to the unreceivable area.
[0015]
In other words, in the gap filler device of the present invention, the reception conversion means as the reception point facility converts the second broadcast signal received from the satellite into a signal (cable transmission signal) having a frequency lower than that of the first broadcast signal. The transmission means as the transmission point equipment is transmitted to the transmission means side via the coaxial cable, and the transmission means as the transmission point equipment uses the same signal as the first broadcast signal transmitted from the reception conversion means side via the coaxial cable. The signal is converted to a frequency signal and transmitted wirelessly to an unreceivable area where direct waves from the satellite do not reach.
Further, in the gap filler device of the present invention, each of the reception conversion means and the transmission means performs frequency conversion of the target signal by mixing the target signal to be frequency-converted and the frequency conversion signal of a predetermined frequency by a mixer. The frequency conversion signal is generated using a reference signal having a constant frequency generated by the same single oscillation circuit. Then, the oscillation circuit corrects the frequency of the reference signal to be the constant frequency by using a clock signal included in the radio wave from the GPS satellite. The frequency conversion target signal in the reception conversion means is the second broadcast signal received from the satellite, and the frequency conversion target signal in the transmission means is transmitted from the reception conversion means side via the coaxial cable. Signal for cable transmission.
[0016]
According to such a gap filler device of the present invention, a signal (cable transmission signal) transmitted from a reception conversion unit as a reception point facility to a transmission unit as a transmission point facility via a coaxial cable is transmitted from a satellite. Therefore, the signal transmission loss on the coaxial cable connecting the reception point facility and the transmission point facility can be reduced. Therefore, even if the reception point facility and the transmission point facility are separated from each other, both facilities can be connected with a coaxial cable having a smaller diameter.
[0017]
And the following effects are acquired from this.
(1) Installation work of the gap filler device is facilitated.
(2) When the gap filler device is installed in a building such as a building, the influence on the appearance of the building is reduced.
[0018]
(3) Since the signal transmission loss is reduced, the power consumption of the entire apparatus is reduced.
(4) The cost increase accompanying the increase in the distance between the reception point facility and the transmission point facility can be minimized.
[0019]
Further, according to the gap filler device of the present invention, since the receiving conversion means and the transmitting means are connected by the coaxial cable, it is not necessary to provide separate wiring for supplying power to each means. That is, a power supply inserter is provided to supply power from one means to the other means via a coaxial cable, or to insert a power supply voltage (DC voltage or AC voltage) at any location on the coaxial cable. This is because each means can be configured to receive power from a coaxial cable.
[0020]
Next, in the gap filler device for a satellite broadcast system according to
[0021]
That is, in the gap filler device according to
[0022]
The reason for this will be explained. First, generally, when a frequency conversion target signal of a certain frequency f1 is converted into a signal of a frequency If lower than that, the frequency conversion target signal and the frequency are “f1-If” or “ The frequency conversion signal of “f1 + If” is mixed by the mixer, and the signal having the frequency If is extracted from the output of the mixer by the band pass filter.
[0023]
Here, for example, the frequencies of the first broadcast signal and the second broadcast signal transmitted from the satellite are 2.6 GHz and 12 GHz, respectively, and the reception conversion unit is configured to receive the second broadcast signal of 12 GHz from the satellite. It is assumed that the frequency conversion signal of 11.6 GHz (12 GHz-400 MHz) is mixed with a mixer, whereby the second broadcast signal is converted into a 400 MHz cable transmission signal at a time.
[0024]
In this case, the signal mixed with the frequency conversion signal by the mixer includes a component 400 MHz lower than the frequency conversion signal (that is, an image of the frequency conversion target signal which is 11.2 GHz and is a desired wave). If this is the case, the image is also converted into a 400 MHz cable transmission signal, which becomes extra noise. Therefore, in the reception conversion means, before inputting the received signal from the satellite to the mixer, the band-pass filter removes the 11.2 GHz image from the received signal and inputs only the desired wave to the mixer. .
[0025]
However, in this case, the difference between the desired wave (12 GHz) and its image (11.2 GHz) is only 800 MHz (= 400 MHz × 2: about 7% of the desired wave frequency), and such a high frequency range of several tens GHz. In order to extract only the desired wave, a higher-performance band pass filter is required.
[0026]
On the other hand, for example, a 12 GHz second broadcast signal is temporarily converted to 1 GHz, and the 1 GHz signal is converted to a 400 MHz cable transmission signal. By doing so, in the first frequency conversion that handles higher frequencies, the difference between the desired wave (12 GHz) and its image can be expanded to 2 GHz (= 1 GHz × 2: about 17% of the desired wave frequency). Thus, only a desired wave can be extracted from the received signal and input to the mixer without using a very high performance band pass filter.
[0027]
Therefore, as described in
[0028]
Next, the present invention according to claim 3 provides:
A satellite for transmitting the first broadcast signal and the second broadcast signal of the same content at different frequencies to the ground service area;

A gap filler device that performs frequency conversion into a signal and wirelessly transmits to a non-receivable area where the first broadcast signal from the satellite cannot be directly received in the service area;
In satellite broadcasting system with
The gap filler device isThe gap filler device for a satellite broadcasting system according to claim 1 or 2.It is characterized by.
[0029]
That is, in the satellite broadcasting system according to claim 3, in order to cover an unreceivable area where a direct wave from the satellite does not reach,Or claim 2The gap filler device is used. Therefore, according to this satellite broadcast system, the cost for eliminating the area where broadcast information from the satellite cannot be received can be suppressed by the effects (1) and (4) described above, A satellite broadcasting system without an area where broadcasting information from satellites cannot be received can be constructed at low cost.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.
First, FIG. 1 is a configuration diagram showing the configuration of the gap filler device of the first embodiment to which the present invention is applied, and FIG. 2 is a perspective view illustrating the installation state of the gap filler device.
[0031]
The gap filler apparatus according to the first embodiment uses a broadcast signal transmitted from a terrestrial broadcast station to a satellite, and the satellite transmits a first broadcast signal of S band (in this embodiment, a broadcast having a frequency of 2.64 GHz). Signal) Sa and a Ku-band second broadcast signal having a higher frequency (in this embodiment, a broadcast signal having a frequency of 12.45 GHz) Sb, and converting both of the broadcast signals Sa and Sb to the ground It is used in a satellite broadcasting system that transmits to a service area.
[0032]
The gap filler device of the first embodiment receives the Ku-band second broadcast signal Sb out of the first broadcast signal Sa and the second broadcast signal Sb of the same content transmitted from the satellite, and The received second broadcast signal Sb is frequency-converted into a relay broadcast signal Sg having the same frequency (2.64 GHz) as the first broadcast signal Sa, and the relay broadcast signal Sg is transmitted from the satellite within the service area. The signal Sa is wirelessly transmitted to an unreceivable area where it cannot be directly received.
[0033]
In this satellite broadcasting system, each receiving terminal (mobile station and fixed station) existing in the terrestrial service area receives an S-band broadcast signal (that is, the first broadcast signal Sa transmitted directly from the satellite, The relay broadcast signal Sg) transmitted from the gap filler device of the embodiment is received.
[0034]
As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the gap filler apparatus of the first embodiment is a satellite receiving antenna as a receiving point facility installed on the roof of a building BL to receive the second broadcast signal Sb from the satellite. 2 and a transmitter 4 and two transmission antennas as a transmission point facility installed on the wall surface of the building BL in order to transmit the relay broadcast signal Sg to an unreceivable area where the first broadcast signal Sa from the satellite cannot be directly received. 6a and 6b, and the
