Claims (3)
- 前面基板に平行に配置される走査電極および維持電極と、背面基板に前記走査電極および前記維持電極に直交する方向に配置されるアドレス電極と、
前記前面基板および背面基板との間に形成されたセルとを有するプラズマディスプレイパネルと、走査電極を駆動する走査電極駆動回路と、維持電極を駆動する維持電極駆動回路と、
アドレス電極を駆動するアドレス電極駆動回路と、これらの駆動回路の動作を制御する制御回路とを有するプラズマディスプレイパネルの駆動方法において、
1フィールドを複数のサブフィールドに分割して動作させ、
各サブフィールドがセル内の電荷量を調整するリセット期間と、発光するセルを指定するアドレス期間と、前記走査電極および維持電極で繰り返し放電を行ないセルを発光させる維持期間と、発光したセル内に形成された壁電荷の量を減少させる消去期間とをもって各駆動回路を駆動させ、
前記消去期間は、前記維持期間と前記維持期間に後続する前記リセット期間との間にあり、
前記消却期間に、前記走査電極が前記維持電極に対して陰極となる電位の矩形波パルスを前記維持電極と前記走査電極の少なくともいずれか一方に印加するか、または前記走査電極が前記維持電極に対して陰極であって前記走査電極の電圧値が時間とともに減少する消去波形を走査電極に印加するかのいずれかをサブフィールドごとに選択する
ことを特徴とするプラズマディスプレイパネルの駆動方法。 - 請求項1に記載のプラズマディスプレイパネルの駆動方法において、
前記リセット期間に走査電極に印加され、徐々に電圧が上昇して全てのセルで放電を起こし、壁電荷を形成する書込工程と、徐々に電圧が下降して前記書込工程で形成した壁電荷を減少させる減少工程を有し、
前記消去期間において、前記消却波形は、前記減少工程で前記走査電極に印加される電圧波形と、略同一の傾きを有する
ことを特徴とするプラズマディスプレイパネルの駆動方法。 - 請求項1乃至2に記載のプラズマディスプレイパネルの駆動方法において、
前記矩形波パルスは、前記維持電極と前記走査電極の電極間電位差が前記維持期間に印加する維持放電パルスより小さいパルスか、若しくは前記維持放電パルスよりも一回の印加時間が短いパルスであることを特徴とするプラズマディスプレイパネルの駆動方法。
