本発明は、スイッチング電源装置及びそれを用いた電子機器に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
トランジスタを繰り返しオン・オフさせ、そのオン・オフの時間の比率を変えることによって、直流の出力電圧の安定化させるスイッチング電源装置が知られており、電力変換効率が良く、また小型・軽量化が可能なため広く普及している。

スイッチング電源装置の一般的な構成を図5に示す。図示されるスイッチング電源装置は、スイッチング素子40,インダクタ41,ダイオード42,コンデンサ43からなるDC変換部と、ローパスフィルタ45,誤差アンプ46,PWM(パルス幅変調)回路47からなるフィードバック制御部とから構成される。DC変換部は、いわゆるブーストコンバータと呼ばれるものであって、スイッチング素子40がオン・オフされることにより、負荷50が接続された出力端子間に電源の出力電圧Vinを昇圧した出力電圧Voutを出力する。

フィードバック制御部は、出力電圧Voutを監視して、一定な出力電圧Voutとなるようにスイッチング素子40のオン時間・オフ時間の比率を制御する。出力電圧Voutは、ローパスフィルタ45により、所定の周波数(遮断周波数)以上の電圧変動成分がカットされて誤差アンプ46に入力される。

誤差アンプ46は、設定電圧Vrefが入力されており、ローパスフィルタ45からの出力電圧Voutと設定電圧Vrefとの差に応じた誤差信号を出力する。PWM回路47は、出力電圧Voutと設定電圧Vrefとの差が「0」となるように、誤差信号に基づいてスイッチング素子40のオン時間とオフ時間の比率、すなわち、スイッチング素子40を駆動する駆動信号のデューティ比を制御する。このようにスイッチング素子40のオン時間とオフ時間の比率をフィードバック制御することにより、負荷変動などで負荷電流が変動した場合であっても、出力電圧Voutが設定電圧Vrefと同じ電圧に保たれるようにしている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
ところで、上記のローパスフィルタは、フィードバック制御の安定性を確保するためのものであるが、これの応答性を低くすれば、すなわち遮断周波数を低く設定すれば、電気的なノイズの影響を受けにくくすることができる。しかし、応答性を低くすると、出力電圧を変更した時た負荷が急変した際に、フィードバック制御の遅延やその変動が検出されないなどの理由によって、設定された電圧に達するまでに時間がかかったり、出力電圧の変動が補正されないなどの現象が発生してしまうという問題があった。従来のスイッチング電源装置のローパスフィルタは、インダクタ,抵抗,コンデンサなどを用いた積分回路と呼ばれるものが用いられており、インダクタ,抵抗,コンデンサなどの回路定数が固定されているので応答性を変化させることはできなかった。

また、特許文献1では、デジタルデータを用いてフィードバック制御を行う構成も記載されているが、上記のようなスイッチング電源装置の特性については触れられていない。

本発明は、上記問題点を考慮してなされたもので、種々の条件下に最適な特性とすることができるスイッチング電源装置及び電子機器を提供することを目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記目的を達成するために、請求項1記載のスイッチング電源装置では、フィードバック制御部を、クロックパルスの入力毎に出力電圧をサンプリングしてデジタル変換して出力するA/D変換器と、クロックパルスの入力毎にA/D変換器からの出力を取り込んで演算結果を出力するローパスフィルタとしてのデジタルフィルタと、クロックパルスの入力毎にデジタルフィルタからの出力をアナログ電圧に変換するD/A変換器と、D/A変換器からのアナログ電圧と予め設定された設定電圧値との差に基づいてスイッチング素子のオン時間とオフ時間の比率を調節するPWM変調手段と、周波数の異なるクロックパルスを選択的に発生し、クロックパルスをA/D変換器,デジタルフィルタ及びD/A変換器に送出するクロック発生手段と、出力電圧の変更時,変動時に相対的に高い周波数のクロックパルスをクロック発生手段に発生させることで、デジタルフィルタの特性及びフィードバック制御部の応答性を変化させる周波数制御手段とを備えるようにしたものである。

【発明の実施の形態】
本発明を実施したデジタルカメラの構成を図1に示す。スイッチング電源装置(以下。電源装置と称する)2は、デジタルカメラの各部に給電する。負荷回路としての撮影機構3は、イメージセンサによる被写体像の撮影,メモリカードへの画像データの記録のための各種回路、電子ビューファインダとして機能するLCDやこれを駆動するための回路,撮影レンズのフォーカシングやズーミングを行うための装置等から構成されており、これらは電源装置2からの給電を受けて動作する。

システムコントローラ4は、操作部5からの操作信号に応じて電源装置2及び撮影機構3を制御する。操作部5は、これを操作することにより、デジタルカメラの電源のオン・オフ、シャッタレリーズ(撮影指示)、ズーミング等の指示を行うことができ、その操作に応じた操作信号を出力する。システムコントローラ4は、操作部8の操作により、電源のオンが指示されると電源装置2を起動して、撮影機構3に給電を開始する。なお、システムコントローラ4は、電池6から微弱電流の供給を受けて電源のオフのときにも作動しており、電源のオン操作を監視している。

PWM回路25は、誤差アンプ24とともにPWM変調手段を構成し、誤差信号に応じてオン時間とオフ時間の比率を調節してスイッチング素子12を駆動する。このPWM回路25は、誤差信号に示される移動平均電圧Vfと設定電圧Vrefとの差が「0」となるように、スイッチング素子12のオン時間とオフ時間の比率を調節する。具体的には、移動平均電圧Vfが設定電圧Vrefよりも高いときは、スイッチング素子12のオフ時間に対するオン時間を短く(デューティ比を小さく)し、低いときはスイッチング素子12のオフ時間に対するオン時間を長く(デューティ比を大きく)する。このようにして、スイッチング素子12のオン時間とオフ時間の比率を調節することで、出力電圧Voutが設定電圧Vrefと同じになるようにする。

上記デジタルフィルタ22の構成を図2に示す。デジタルフィルタ22は、乗算器31a〜31c と、遅延器32a,32bと、加算器33とから構成される。乗算器31a,31cは、それぞれ入力される出力電圧データVoutに値「1/4」を乗算して出力し、乗算器31bは、値「1/2」を乗算して出力する。各遅延器32a,32bは、入力される出力電圧データDoutを1クロックパルス分遅らせて出力する。乗算器31aと遅延器32aには、A/D変換器21から出力電圧データDoutが入力され、乗算器31bと遅延器32bとには、遅延器aから出力電圧データDoutが入力される。また、乗算器31cには、遅延器32bからの出力電圧電圧データDoutが入力される。加算器は、上記の各乗算器31a〜31cの乗算結果を加算し、移動平均電圧データDfとして出力する。

このように構成されたデジタルフィルタ22は、クロック周波数に応じた遮断周波数・応答性を有するローパスフィルタとして機能する。そして、本発明では、デジタルフィルタ22に入力するクロック周波数を変化させることでデジタルフィルタの特性を変化させ、デジタルカメラの動作に最適な応電源装置2の特性を得ている。なお、デジタルフィルタ22の構成は、クロック周波数によって遮断周波数、応答性が変化するものであれば図2に示されるものに限らない。また、デジタルフィルタ22が行う演算はハード的に行ってもよく、ソフト的に行ってもよい。

システムコントローラ4は、コントロール信号によってクロック発生器26を制御して、撮影機構3の動作に応じたクロック周波数に切り換える。クロック周波数は、デジタルフィルタ22に送出されるクロックパルスの他、デジタルフィルタ22に同期させてA/D変換器21,D/A変換器22を動作させるために、これらへのクロックパルスについても同時にクロック周波数が切り換えられる。この例では、クロック発生器26は、周波数が低い通常クロック周波数と、この通常クロック周波数よりも周波数が高い高速クロック周波数との2種類のクロックパルスを選択的に出力し、高速クロック周波数は通常クロック周波数の2倍となっている。

撮影機構3の動作が一定しており負荷電流がほとんど変動しない、すなわち負荷変動がほとんどないような通常時では、クロック発生器26は通常クロック周波数でクロックパルスを発生し、デジタルフィルタ22の遮断周波数を下げる。すなわち、図3のグラフに実線で示すように、デジタルフィルタ22が透過する周波数域を低周波側にシフトして、電気的なノイズによる影響を低減し、フィードバック制御部20によるフィードバック制御を安定させる。これにより、電源装置2からの出力電圧Voutの安定化を図る。

一方、フィードバック制御に高速な応答性が要求されるとき、すなわち出力電圧の変更時,変動時には、クロック発生器26は高速クロック周波数でクロックを発生し、デジタルフィルタ22を含むフィードバック制御部20の応答性を高くする。すなわち、スイッチング素子12のオン時間とオフ時間の調節間隔となるクロックパルスの入力間隔を短くすることによって、フィードバック制御部20の応答性を高くし、出力電圧を速やかに設定電圧とし、電圧変動を速やかに解消させる。また、高速クロック周波数を用いた場合には、図3のグラフで破線で示すように、デジタルフィルタ22が透過する周波数域を高周波側にシフトされることにより、負荷が急変した場合にも、それによる出力電圧Voutの変動を検出可能となり,フィードバック制御をより好ましいものとなる。

以上のように、本発明によれば、DC変換部の出力電圧をA/D変換器,ローパスフィルタとして機能するのデジタルフィルタ,D/A変換器を通して得られるアナログ電圧と設定電圧値との差に基づいて、DC変換部のスイッチング素子のオン時間とオフ時間の比率を調節するとともに、A/D変換器,デジタルフィルタ及びD/A変換器に供給するクロックパルスの周波数を出力電圧の変更または変動時に高くし、あるいは負荷回路の動作に応じて変化するようにしたから、スイッチング電源装置の特性を動的に変化させることができ、出力電圧の変動のとき、出力電圧を変更するときに応答性を高め、また通常時には電気的なノイズの影響を低減して安定した出力電圧を得ることができる。
