Description
以下、本発明の第1実施形態を図面に基づいて説明する。雨滴検出装置は、自動車のウインドシールド60の外壁面60aに設けたワイパのためのワイパ自動制御装置(図示せず)に採用される。雨滴検出装置は、ウインドシールド60にその内壁面60bから上記ワイパの払拭領域に対応して設けられており、この払拭領域に付着する雨滴を光学的に検出して上記ワイパ自動制御装置に出力する。図1は、本発明に係わる雨滴検出装置を車両のウインドシールド60の内壁面60bに装着した状態を示した図2の導光体10のI−I矢視断面図である。図2は、図1中の導光体10、発光素子40、および受光素子50の位置関係を示す上面図である。
(1)入射側段差面および出射側段差面のそれぞれの段差面を延長した延長面が雨滴検出領域で交わっていないと、反射光は、上述の二箇所分の光量の低下を含むこととなる。結果、雨滴検出領域で二箇所の光量低下が生じ、これらの部分での雨滴の検出精度が低下し、雨滴検出領域内での雨滴の量が正確に検出できないおそれがある。
第2の実施形態を図3および図4に基づいて説明する。第2の実施形態では、入射側傾斜面および出射側傾斜面をそれぞれ三つ以上形成している。図3は、第2の実施形態に係わる雨滴検出装置を車両のウインドシールド60の内壁面60bに装着した状態の一例を示した断面図である。図4は、第3の実施形態に係わる雨滴検出装置を車両のウインドシールド60の内壁面60bに装着した状態の別の例を示した断面図である。
(1)入射側傾斜面を三つ以上形成する場合は、延長した延長面上にLED40を有する入射側段差面11cを境にPD50側には入射側傾斜面12eが一つ、その反対側には入射側傾斜面12c、12dが複数形成されている。これにより、傾斜面およびその上に形成される分割平凸レンズによる影が隣の分割平凸レンズに落とさずに導光体10bの肉厚を均一化することができる。
第3の実施形態を図5に基づいて説明する。第3の実施形態では、入射側および出射側傾斜面をそれぞれ四つ形成する。図5は、第3の実施形態に係わる雨滴検出装置を車両のウインドシールド60の内壁面60bに装着した状態の一例を示した断面図である。
(1)導光体10cの入射側および出射側にそれぞれ四つの傾斜面を形成することで、他の実施形態のどの導光体よりも薄くすることができ、肉厚を均一化することができる。
変形例1を図7に基づいて説明する。図7に示すように、導光体10dに二組の入射側分割平凸レンズ13j、13k、13l、13mと一組の出射側分割平凸レンズ16a、16bとが形成されている。なお、出射側分割平凸レンズ16a、16bとPD50は第1実施形態と同じため同一符号を用いる。
変形例2を図8に基づいて説明する。導光体10eに四組の入射側分割平凸レンズ13n、13o、13p、13q、13r、13s、13t、13uと四組の出射側平凸レンズ16j、16k、16l、16m、16n、16o、16p、16qが形成され、回路基板30にLED40c、40dとPD50a、50bが二つずつ設けられている。

Claims (9)
- 発光素子からの光をウインドシールドの内壁側から照射し、前記ウインドシールドで反射した光を受光素子にて計測することにより前記ウインドシールドの外壁面に付着した雨滴の量を検出する雨滴検出装置であって、
前記ウインドシールドの内壁側に装着され、前記発光素子からの光が透過する複数の入射側傾斜面、隣り合う前記入射側傾斜面の端部同士が結ばれた入射側段差面、前記反射した光が透過する複数の出射側傾斜面、および隣り合う前記出射側傾斜面の端部同士が結ばれた出射側段差面とが形成された導光体と、
前記入射側傾斜面上に形成され、前記発光素子からの光を平行光として形成させる第1のレンズと、
前記出射側傾斜面上に形成され、前記反射した光を前記受光素子に集光させる第2のレンズとを備え、
前記第1のレンズは、一枚の平凸レンズをこのレンズの光軸で分割したような形状を成す入射側分割平凸レンズを有し、前記第2のレンズは、一枚の平凸レンズをこのレンズの光軸で分割したような形状を成す出射側分割平凸レンズを有し、
前記入射側段差面、および前記入射側分割平凸レンズのそれぞれの分割面が、前記入射側分割平凸レンズの前記光軸に沿って配置されるとともに、前記出射側段差面、および前記出射側分割平凸レンズのそれぞれの分割面が、前記出射側分割平凸レンズの前記光軸に沿って配置され、
前記発光素子および前記受光素子は、それぞれ前記入射側分割平凸レンズの光軸および前記出射側分割平凸レンズの光軸上に配置され、
前記入射側段差面および前記出射側段差面を、それぞれの延在方向のうち、前記ウインドシールド側に延長させた延長面が、互いに前記ウインドシールドの外壁面で交わっていることを特徴とする雨滴検出装置。 - 前記発光素子および前記受光素子が実装されている回路基板を備え、
前記回路基板と前記入射側段差面の前記延長面との交線上には、前記発光素子が設けられ、
前記回路基板と前記出射側段差面の前記延長面との交線上には、前記受光素子が設けられることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の雨滴検出装置。 - 前記入射側段差面と前記出射側段差面は、前記導光体を通る前記平行光のほぼ中央に設けられることを特徴とする請求項1または請求項2のいずれかに記載の雨滴検出装置。
- 前記入射側傾斜面および前記出射側傾斜面は、前記ウインドシールド側から見たとき重ならないように形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1から請求項3のいずれか一項に記載の雨滴検出装置。
- 前記入射側傾斜面は、前記延長面上に前記発光素子の光源を有する前記入射側段差面を境に二つのグループに分けられ、
前記二つのグループのうち、前記受光素子側のグループの前記入射側傾斜面は一つであり、前記発光素子側のグループの前記入射側傾斜面は複数であることを特徴とする請求項1から請求項4のいずれか一項に記載の雨滴検出装置。 - 前記出射側傾斜面は、前記延長面上に前記受光素子の受光点を有する前記出射側段差面を境に二つのグループに分けられ、
前記二つのグループのうち、前記発光素子側のグループの前記出射側傾斜面は一つであり、前記受光素子側のグループの前記出射側傾斜面は複数であることを特徴とする請求項1から請求項5のいずれか一項に記載の雨滴検出装置。 - 前記入射側分割平凸レンズの各曲率は、前記発光素子から入射する光が前記入射側導光部に前記平行光として形成されるように設定されており、前記出射側分割平凸レンズの各曲率は、前記反射した平行光が前記受光素子に集光されるように設定されることを特徴とする請求項1から請求項6のいずれか一項に記載の雨滴検出装置。
- 前記導光体には、前記入射側分割平凸レンズが複数組、前記出射側分割平凸レンズが一組形成され、各組の前記入射側分割平凸レンズの光軸が平行となっており、
前記回路基板には、各組の前記入射側分割平凸レンズの光軸上に前記発光素子が一つずつ設けられ、前記出射側分割平凸レンズの光軸上に前記受光素子が一つ設けられていることを特徴とする請求項1から請求項7のいずれか一項に記載の雨滴検出装置。 - 前記導光体は、上面から見た外形が略正方形であり、
前記入射側分割平凸レンズと前記出射側分割平凸レンズが一組ずつ前記導光体の各辺に沿って形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1から請求項7のいずれか一項に記載の雨滴検出装置。
