従来、部品実装機においてプリント基板に電子部品(以下単に部品という)を精度良く搭載するために、吸着ノズルにより吸着された部品をプリント基板に搭載する前にCCDカメラなどの撮像装置により部品を撮像し、吸着姿勢を認識して吸着時の位置ずれなど量を計算しそれを補正することにより正確に部品をプリント基板に搭載している。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、図7(C)に示すような部品20のように、形状がリード本数、リードピッチ、リード長さ、リード幅、または辺、コーナーなど幾何学的な形状で表現できない形をした部品は諸元を登録できないため、従来の方法では高精度で認識できず、搭載精度が悪くなるという問題点があった。また、幾何学的形状を定義できる部品は定義時の角度が予め設定されているという前提であるため認識時に角度の計算が可能であるが、例えば幾何学的形状が記述できない部品の画像そのものをテンプレートデータとして登録する場合、登録時の角度等が分からないために、テンプレートマッチングを行っても部品の姿勢を認識できない、という問題点があった。

本発明は、このような問題点を解決するためになされたもので、幾何学的形状を定義できないような部品であっても、部品の姿勢を高精度で認識できる実装機の部品認識装置を提供することをその課題とする。

本発明は、上記課題を解決するために、
実装機で基板に搭載される部品の吸着姿勢を、部品を基板に搭載する前に認識するための実装機の部品認識装置において、
部品の画像を、部品を基板に搭載しない状態で取得する撮像装置と、
データによる幾何学的形状の記述が困難な部品の場合に、予め仮に部品を基板に正規の姿勢で手動により搭載し、この状態で部品を吸着ノズルで吸着して撮像装置で撮像された部品画像、あるいは、部品を基板に搭載すべき角度を示すクロスカーソルをモニタに表示し、部品の画像を、このクロスカーソルに合わせて、実際に部品が正規の姿勢で基板に搭載されるときの部品画像から、該部品のテンプレートを作成する手段と、

以下、図面に示す実施の形態に基づいて本発明を詳細に説明する。

図1は、本発明に係わる部品実装機(部品実装装置)の概要図であり、図2はその制御構成を示すブロック図である。部品実装機は、フィーダあるいはトレイのような部品供給部9より供給される部品(電子部品)20を吸着する吸着ノズル3aを備えたヘッド部3を有しており、このヘッド部3はCPUで構成されるコントローラ10により駆動されるX軸モータ11によってX軸1に沿って移動し、またX軸1は、Y軸モータ12によりY軸2、2’に沿って移動できるようになっており、それによりヘッド部3は、XY軸方向に移動可能に構成される。またヘッド部3は、Z軸モータ13によってZ軸方向に駆動されて昇降し、また吸着ノズル3aはθ軸モータ14によってノズル軸を中心に回転できるように構成されている。吸着ノズルは、図1では、一個だけ図示されているが、ヘッド部3に複数個設けることができ、その場合には、部品を複数の吸着ノズルで同時吸着することができる。

また、部品実装機には、部品20を撮像するCCDカメラのようなレンズ5aを備えた撮像装置5が配置され、ヘッド部3は、部品吸着後撮像装置5に移動して、照明装置15により照明された部品20が撮像装置5により撮像され、その画像が取得される。取得された部品の画像は、CPU7a、画像メモリ7b、A/D変換器7c、テンプレートメモリ(格納手段)7dを備えた画像認識装置7に入力される。画像認識装置7のCPU7aは、設定された領域の画像を取り込んで公知のアルゴリズムにより、あるいはテンプレートメモリ7dあるいは外部の記憶装置23に格納され部品のテンプレートとのテンプレートマッチングにより部品の吸着姿勢を認識し、部品中心と吸着中心の位置ずれ、並びに吸着角度ずれを演算する。CPUからなるコントローラ10は、X軸、Y軸、θ軸モータ11、12、14を駆動するときこの位置ずれを補正し、搬送されてくる基板6に部品20を搭載する。

また、部品実装機には、部品データを入力するためのキーボード21、マウス22などの入力装置が設けられ、生成された部品データが、ハードディスク、フラッシュメモリなどで構成される記憶装置23に格納できるようになっている。部品データは、このように入力装置を介さず、部品実装装置に接続されたホストコンピュータ(不図示)から供給されるものを記憶装置23に格納しておくようにしてもよい。また、モニタ(表示器)24が設けられ、この画面には、部品データ、演算データや撮像装置5で撮像した部品画像、部品のテンプレート画像などが表示できるようになっている。

図3には、吸着ノズル3aに吸着された部品20が、照明装置15により照明され、撮像装置5により撮像される状態が図示されている。撮像された画像は、信号線7eを介して画像認識装置7に入力され、A/D変換器7cを介してデジタル信号に変換された後、画像メモリ7bに格納される。また、CPU7aは、部品データ登録時、部品が正規に搭載されるときの角度(姿勢)に設定された部品の画像から、その部品のテンプレートを作成し、これをテンプレートメモリ7dあるいは記憶装置23に格納する。また、CPU7aは、部品搭載時、吸着ノズル3aで吸着された部品の画像を取得してこれを画像メモリ7bに格納し、この格納された画像と、テンプレートメモリから読み出されたその部品のテンプレートとのテンプレートマッチングにより部品の姿勢を認識し、中心位置、吸着傾きなどを演算する。従って、CPU7aは、テンプレート作成手段、部品の姿勢認識手段となる。部品データ登録時、並びに部品搭載時に、処理される画像はモニタ24に表示させることができる。

本発明は実装機において、例えば、図7(C)に示したように、幾何学的形状の記述が困難な部品でも部品データを、テンプレートデータとして登録することを可能とし、実装機が本発明による認識システムを有することにより幾何学的形状にて表現が不可能な形状の部品も搭載をすることができるようになる。

以下に、部品データ登録と部品搭載の流れを図5、図6のフローチャートを参照して説明する。

図5は、部品データを登録するときの流れを示すもので、通常、図7(A)、(B)に示すような部品30、31を登録する場合には、キーボード21などの入力装置を用いて、部品外形サイズ、リードの本数、リード長さ、リードピッチ、リード幅情報などを入力し、これらを部品データとして記憶装置23に登録する。しかし、図7(C)に示すような部品20の場合には、そのデータを幾何学的な形状で表現できないため、撮影装置5で取得した画像をテンプレートとして登録しこれを部品データとする。そのため、部品20のデータを登録する場合は、実装機のメインコントローラ10により部品吸着ノズル3aが部品供給部9より部品20を吸着し(ステップS1)、吸着ノズル3aが撮像装置5の位置に移動し、部品20が撮像装置5により撮像され(ステップS2)、その画像が画像メモリ7bに格納される。

撮像後、部品を基板に搭載すべき角度を示すクロスカーソル44をモニタ24に表示し、部品の画像を、このクロスカーソルに合わせて、搭載すべき角度、すなわち、実際に部品が正規の姿勢で基板に搭載されるときの部品の姿勢に設定する(ステップS3)。搭載すべき角度は、ヘッド部3に取り付けられたカメラ(不図示)で、予め部品20の基板の搭載位置を表示し、その搭載角度に合わせクロスカーソル44を表示するなどにより決定し、その決定された角度でクロスカーソル44をモニタ24に表示する。例えば、図5の例では、搭載すべき部品の角度(姿勢)は、モニタ24の表示画面42に示したように、部品20の端子孔20aと20bを結ぶ線が水平となる角度なので、クロスカーソル44は、水平線と垂直線のクロス線として表示される。従って、撮像直後では、表示画面40に示したようなクロスカーソル44と部品20の撮像画像がモニタ24に表示される。

続いて、吸着ノズル3aをθ軸モータ14で回転させることにより撮像装置5で撮像された部品20の画像を回転させ、表示画面41に示したように部品の端子孔20a、20bを結ぶ線が、カーソルの水平線と平行となるように回転させる。これにより、部品画像が、搭載すべき角度に設定される。

また、予め部品を基板に正規の姿勢で手動により搭載し、この状態で部品を吸着ノズルで吸着して撮像装置で撮像することにより、部品画像を、搭載すべき角度に設定することができる。例えば、図4に示したように、部品20を基板6に手により正規の姿勢で搭載し、これを吸着ノズル3aで吸着して撮像装置5で撮像する。この場合には、モニタ24の画面には、正規の姿勢で搭載される部品の画像がそのまま表示されるので、画像を回転させることなく部品画像が搭載すべき角度に設定されることになる。

以上説明したように本発明によれば、実装機において幾何学的形状表現が困難な部品の認識搭載を行う際、搭載すべき角度に設定された部品画像から部品のテンプレートを作成してそれを登録するようにしているので、基板に搭載されるときの正規の姿勢の部品データをテンプレートとして登録することができ、種々の部品の吸着姿勢を高精度で認識して部品を正確に基板に搭載することが可能となる。
