Description
【0001】
【0070】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus, and more particularly to control that can realize optimal image formation according to a passing position of a transfer sheet in a main scanning direction.
[0002]
[Prior art]
FIG. 10 is a plan view showing a schematic configuration of an image forming apparatus such as a laser printer. In FIG. 10, 1 is a photosensitive drum, 3 is a semiconductor laser that generates laser light in response to a write signal, 4 is a polygon mirror that deflects and scans the laser light, and 10a and 10b are transfer sheets.
[0003]
Here, the
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In this type of image forming apparatus, if the transfer paper is conveyed at exactly the same passing position, the same image can be formed on the transfer paper. However, a slight misalignment occurs due to various slips and paper bends that occur in the transport path from the paper feed cassette to the photosensitive drum.
[0005]
When such slipping or paper bending occurs, the conveyance direction can be aligned by a registration roller immediately before transfer.
However, for slippage or paper bending in a direction orthogonal to the transport direction (main scanning direction), it is necessary to detect a positional shift and change the scanning position of the laser beam. In the example shown in FIG. 10, the
[0006]
With respect to the transfer sheet misalignment in the direction perpendicular to the transport direction, correction has been conventionally performed by swinging the transport roller in the axial direction, but sufficient accuracy has not been obtained.
[0007]
Japanese Patent No. 2550558 discloses an image forming apparatus that detects a relative deviation from an ideal reference position of a transfer sheet and corrects an image forming position in accordance with the deviation. In the image forming apparatus disclosed in this patent publication, the positional deviation of the transfer paper is detected by a plurality of light receiving elements, and a plurality of detection results from the light receiving elements are connected to a ROM. I am trying to convert it.
[0008]
Further, since the position of the transfer paper is detected as a relative deviation from the reference value, there is a problem that it cannot be handled when the size of the transfer paper is changed or the processing becomes extremely troublesome.
[0009]
Further, as a result of the experiment confirmed by the inventor of the present application, even when a contact type line sensor is used as a sensor for detecting the displacement of the transfer paper, due to the difference in the thickness of the transfer paper, the main scanning direction A new problem has been found that the detection error of the passing position occurs. In other words, it has been confirmed that the deviation of the transfer paper cannot be accurately corrected by the occurrence of the deviation in detection of the passing position in the main scanning direction.
[0010]
Therefore, an object of the present invention is to accurately detect the passage position in the main scanning direction without being affected by the paper thickness, and to determine the image forming position according to the passage position in the main scanning direction to realize stable image formation. It is to realize a forming apparatus.
[0011]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
That is, the present invention for solving the above problems is as described below.

[0012]
According to the present invention, the sensor output of the contact type line sensor is held by the sample hold circuit, and a stable paper edge position signal can be obtained by comparing the predetermined value with the comparator, and the driving clock is output at the output change point of the comparator. Therefore, the state that the transfer paper is actually passing can be accurately detected, and the count result of the counter is corrected based on the paper thickness detected by the paper type detection sensor. Thus, it is possible to accurately detect the passing position in the main scanning direction without being affected by the paper thickness. As a result, the passing position of the transfer paper in the main scanning direction can be detected accurately, and stable image formation can be performed by determining the correct writing position.
[0013]
(2) The invention according to claim 2 is a writing means for writing image data on the image carrier as an image; By sequentially driving the sensors for one line based on the driving clock, Detect the passing position of transfer paper in the main scanning direction Ru A contact line sensor, a sample hold means for holding a sensor output output in synchronization with a drive clock of the contact line sensor, a comparator for comparing a holding result in the sample hold means with a predetermined value, Driving a contact line sensor Has started Up to the output change point of the comparator The drive clock There is a relationship between the counter for counting, the paper type detection sensor for detecting the paper thickness of the transfer paper, and the detection error of the contact type line sensor. Control means for calculating the passing position information of the transfer paper in the main scanning direction from the accumulated storage means and the counting result of the counter and controlling the writing position on the transfer paper by the writing means based on the passing position information The control means obtains a detection error in the contact type line sensor from the paper thickness with reference to the storage means, and corrects the passing position information by the detection error to control the writing position. An image forming apparatus characterized by that.
[0014]
According to the present invention, the sensor output of the contact type line sensor is held by the sample hold circuit, and a stable paper edge position signal can be obtained by comparing the predetermined value with the comparator, and the driving clock is output at the output change point of the comparator. Therefore, the state that the transfer paper is actually passing can be accurately detected, and the detection error corresponding to the paper thickness is obtained by referring to the storage means, and the detection error is passed. By correcting the position information, it is possible to accurately detect the passing position in the main scanning direction without being affected by the paper thickness. As a result, the passing position of the transfer paper in the main scanning direction can be detected accurately, and stable image formation can be performed by determining the correct writing position.
[0015]
